Garnett Layman Hill
Garnett Layman Hill, 76 of Glendale, died Thursday, July 28, 2011 at his home. He was a native of Hardin County, a member of the American Legion Post #81 in Leitchfield and the DAV. He served in the U. S. Navy, worked in the Radio and TV Dept. at Western Auto and retired from Ft. Knox Civil Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Loxa Mae Wilmoth Hill and one brother, C. M. Hill. He is survived by one daughter and her husband, Marcia and Mike Tipton of Elizabethtown; a sister, Ellen Euphrase (Larry) Westmoreland of Florida; a sister-in-law, Tommie C. Hill of Elizabethtown; two grandchildren, Spencer (Barbara) Tipton of Rineyville and Taylor Tipton of Elizabethtown; two great grandchildren, Heidi Tipton and Jaxson Tipton and six nieces and nephews, Don (Mary Lois) Hill and Wanda Lynn (John) Farrelly all of Elizabethtown, Jeff Westmoreland of TX, Cindy Torgerson of MN, Brent Westmoreland of KY and Allison Weaver of IN. A Memorial service will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

James Lee Massie
James Lee Massie, 66, of Louisville, died Tuesday November 1, 2011, at his residence. He was an avid gun and book collector; he graduated from St. Joe's Prep School in Bardstown and Brescia University in Owensboro. He retired after 37 years as a Jefferson County Parole and Probation Officer. He also served in the Army Reserves for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin Lee and Margaret Schmitt Massie; who died one week apart in February 2002; a brother, Raymond Massie; and a niece Margaret Ann Love. He is survived by two sisters; Judith Love and Martha Massie both of Radcliff; two brothers, John Massie of Radcliff and Stephen Massie of Yorktown, VA. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family has chosen cremation. Services will be at a later date.

Dorothy M. Hughes
Dorothy M. Hughes, 88, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, October 24, 2011 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Meade County, a member of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Rosary Guild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Hughes; her son, Darrell John Hughes; and her parents Julius and Sallie Vessels Greenwell. She is survived by her son, James Hughes of Elizabethtown; a granddaughter Sara Curl of Alliance, OH; and one great-grandson. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday with a prayer vigil 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charles "Randy" Druen
Charles Randall "Randy" Druen, 52, of Elizabethtown, died Friday October 21, 2011 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Hardin County and a loving, caring father. He is preceded in death by his father, a sister Bonnie Jo and a brother Jason Howell. He is survived by his mother Elizabeth Wells of Elizabethtown; two sons Jacob (Emily) Druen of Louisville, and Lucas Druen of Rineyville; the love of his life, Sheila Mills Druen of Rineyville; step-father, Fred Howell of Elizabethtown; three brothers, Darrell Druen, Brian (Pam) Druen and Stephen (Kim) Druen all of Elizabethtown; two sisters, Debbie (Rocky) Campbell and Terry (Ronnie) Penwell both of Elizabethtown; along with several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Kerr officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Samantha Leigh Pavey
Samantha Leigh Pavey, 23, of Louisville, died Friday October 7, 2011 in Shelbyville, KY. She was a student at the University of Louisville where she had a post graduate degree in Accounting and a bachelors degree in Chemistry. She worked for one year as a Specialist for Job Placement at Medical Solutions in Louisville. She is survived by her mother and step-father; Debbie Huber and Kevin Matthews of Elizabethtown; her father and step-mother, Steve and Annette Pavey of Shepherdsville; two brothers, Matt (Leah) Pavey of Ft. Stewart, GA and Todd Pavey of Elizabethtown; one sister, Rachel Smith of Louisville; her grandparents, Lucy O'Farrill of Louisville, Harry Huber of Louisville and Helen Pavey of Elizabethtown and two step-brothers, Eric Reynolds and Chris Reynolds of Bardstown. There will be a celebration of life from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home.

Cameron James Dupin
Cameron James Dupin, 12, of Irvington, died Monday September 5, 2011 as a result of a car accident. He was a 6th grader at Breckenridge County Middle School and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He is survived by his parents, James and Dena Yates Dupin, his brother and sister, Christopher Yates and Chastity Dupin all of Irvington; his grandparents, Ollie Yates of Cecilia, Betty Burgess of Vine Grove, James M. Dupin of Irvington. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Walton officiating. Burial will follow at Howevalley cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and continue after 10 a.m. Friday.

Robert William Armbrust
Robert William Armbrust, 71 of Elizabethtown, died peacefully at his home, Friday, August 19, 2011 after battling a long illness He was born in United, PA and was raised in Armbrust, PA and a member of the VFW, DAV and the American Legion Post #113. He served three tours in Vietnam, receiving two Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star. He served in the Marines and retired from the Army and Civil Service at Ft. Knox. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He will be missed by many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Armbrust and Margaret Love Armbrust. He is survived by his wife Brigitte Kraeml Armbrust; two daughters, Billie Jo (John) Mendoza of Cincinnati, OH and Pamela (Ed) Parson of Soldotna, Alaska; two grandchildren, Brandon Armbrust and Branden Parson; two aunts, Alice Chaffey and Lois Riegler both of Pittsburg, PA and four granddogs, Caesar, Remmi, Bo and Cooper. A Memorial Service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Contributions to Hosparus or the Disabled American Veterans.

Jason Henry Bradley
Jason Henry "Bird" Bradley, 35 of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, August 9, 2011. He was a native of Hardin County and a 1994 graduate of Elizabethtown High School. He was an outstanding football player and track athlete and was loved by everyone. He was a cook by trade. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Frances Bradley and his father, Jack Bell and a sister, Terri Sue Bradley. He is survived by his infant daughter, Ezrya Rayne Bradley; his girlfriend, Holly McDougle; five brothers, Larry (Maureen) Bradley of Aurora, IL, David (Carolyn) Bradley of Virginia Beach, Ronald Bradley and Scott (Melissa) Bradley all of Elizabethtown and Robert Bradley of Louisville; nieces and nephews, Cecil Bradley, George Bradley, William Bradley, Lynndsey Bradley, Laquita Horn, Courtney Bradley, Lori Bradley, Lorenzo Bradley and Anisha Bradley and several great nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Louis Henry officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown City cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and continue after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
