LeRoy H. Thompson

STANFORD -- LeRoy H. Thompson, 78, of Hebron, died Friday at St. Elizabeth South Hospital in Edgewood.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Boone Thompson.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Spurlin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5- 7 p.m. Tuesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home in Hebron and noon - 1p.m. Wednesday at Spurlin Funeral Home.

Roscoe W. Brown

Roscoe Walker Brown, 81, of Logan Avenue died Tuesday at his home.

Born April 20, 1921, in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Allen B. and Rose Etta Lee Brown. He was a security guard, retired after 32 years at Corning Glass Works. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had attended Broadway Elementary School.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Freeman Brown; a son, Ronnie Brown of Danville; three daughters, Sandra Carey, Beth Brown and Lynn Lowry, all of Danville; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church by the Revs. Ernest Martin and Doug Wesley. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Thursday at Stith Funeral Home.

Memorials may go to Heritage Hospice or American Cancer Society.

Mary S. Brown

LIBERTY -- Mary Stayton Brown, 71, of Ky. 1547 died Friday at Nassau Baptist Medical Center in Florida.

Born June 11, 1931, in Clementsville, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Vernie Marple Stayton. She was a homemaker, a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church and the widow of Jesse V. Brown.

Survivors include two sons, Jesse V. Brown Jr. of Yerlee, Fla., and Gary D. Brown of Campbellsville; a daughter, Sharon J. Gilpin of Lexington; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita R. Brown.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Bartle Funeral Home by the Rev. Jeff Edwards. Burial will be in Peavey Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Saturday.

Edna B. Conder

LIBERTY -- Edna Bernice Conder, 66, of Adams Street died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born April 15, 1936, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Ora and Mary Wall Napier. She was a homemaker, a member of Grove Ridge Baptist Church and the widow of James Conder.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Rowland and Shawn Martin, both of Liberty; a daughter, Vickie Luttrell of Liberty; two sisters, Violet Fraley and Velma Bastin, both of Liberty; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by C.B. Carman and G.W. Smith. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday.

LANCASTER -- Homer Gilliam, 63, of Campbell Street died Tuesday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Spurlin Funeral home.

Irene M. Horn

HARRODSBURG -- Irene M. Horn, 86, of Mackville Road died Tuesday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 27, 1916, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Minnie Kurtz Vaught. She was a homemaker and a member of Bruners Chapel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 27 years and was a member of Willing Workers.

She also was a member of Order of the Eastern Star for 40 years, past president of Women's Missionary Union, life member of Mercer County Extension Homemakers and Town and Country Homemakers Club, and a former member of North Mercer Concerned Citizens. She was the widow of Bush Horn.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy J. Fluhr of Louisville and Glendon Rose Followell of Harrodsburg; a stepson, Maurice A. Horn of Campbellsville; a stepdaughter, Virginia A. Chumley of Mercer County; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Don Reed and Greg Humpert. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Byron and Brice Followell, Michael and Mark Wolchik, Leroy Burns and Rodney Thompson.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., and after 7:30 a.m. Friday

Wayne G. Taylor

HARRODSBURG -- Wayne G. Taylor, 45, of Greenwood Drive died Tuesday at his home.

Born March 11, 1957, in Norfolk, England, he was the son of Shirley Moss Taylor of Harrodsburg and the late Owen W. Taylor. He was a former owner and operator of Barr's Food Mart and was in retail management.

Other survivors include a daughter, Loren Taylor of Georgetown; and three sisters, Belinda Houston of Connersville, Ind., Sharon Blankenship of Harrodsburg and Melanie Taylor of Lexington.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Sam Stow and Brackie Willoughby. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jack and Jeff Robertson, George Cheatham, Phillip Peavler, Jason and Ben Houston.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today and after 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

Rowena Rowland

Services for Rowena Helen Rowland, 69, of East Walnut Street will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Revs. Bennie Fields and Johnny Rowland. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

She died Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born April 15, 1933, in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late John and Rowena Leffew Howard. She was a former employee of GENESCO and had been a cook at ABC Grill, Britts coffee shop and Matsushita cafeteria.

Survivors include her husband, Virgil Lee Rowland; two sons, Robert Rowland and Bill Rowland, both of Danville; three daughters, Linda Harlow of Perryville, Betty Jean Barger of Manchester and Rena Rowland of Danville; two sisters, Becky Bishop of Lebanon, Ind., and Lizzie Rowland of Danville; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Rowland, Gary Barger, Tommy Craig, Danny Peavey, Barry Camden and Doc Goodlett. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Barger and Marvin Rowland.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.

Elizabeth R. Barrick

PERRYVILLE -- Services for Elizabeth Gray Reynolds Barrick, 88, of Perryville will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wilder Funeral Home by the Rev. John David Lane. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

She died Sunday at Cedars of Lebanon nursing home.

She was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Mollie Steward Gray.

Pallbearers will be Warren Reynolds II, David and Larry Cochran, Aaron Gray, Glenn Cocanougher and Dwight Conley. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Hundley, W.E. Taylor Jr., Denny Cocanougher, Harlie Lanham Jr., Danny Divine, Jack Roney, Claude Wise and Prentice D. Shewmaker.

Visitation is 5:30-7:30 p.m. today.

Danny Bast

HARRODSBURG -- Services for Danny Bast, 49, of Bondville Road will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by Joe Smith. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

He died Sunday at his home.

Born June 9, 1953, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late William J.B. and Bessie O. Smith Bast. He was a construction worker, had served in the Army, and was a Methodist.

Survivors include his son, Eric D. Bast of Harrodsburg; four brothers, Roy Bast and Donnie Bast, both of Harrodsburg, Connie Bast of Frankfort and Tony Bast of Salvisa; three sisters, Betty Olszanski of Temple, Calif., and Anita Bottoms and Judy Hurst, both of Harrodsburg; and a granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Bryan, Scott and Brad Hurst, Donovan and Anthony Bast, and Larry Merriman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tony and Eddie Bast.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today and after 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Kaye D. Edwards

LANCASTER -- Kaye Darlene Edwards, 43, of Asheboro, N.C., died Saturday at Wesley Long Memorial Hospital.

Born April 23, 1959, in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late William D. and Edith O. Ballard Collett. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Don Edwards; a son, John Hockensmith of Lancaster; a stepson, Don Edwards Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio; three stepdaughters, Donna Hall, Dianna Lapp and Dena Barger, all of Cincinnati; three brothers, Jackie D. Collett, William K. Collett and Ronald K. Collett, all of Lancaster; a sister, Carolyn F. Collett of Lancaster; and 16 grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ramsey Funeral Home by Ralph Sallee. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gary Cooper, Bob Swartz, Terrell and Ronald Edwards, Jason Seybold and Ken Williams.

Visitation will be after noon Friday until time of service.

Vester Kendall Sr.

MORELAND -- Services for Vester Kendall Sr., 101, of Hustonville were today at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Greg Nimmo. Burial was in Hustonville Cemetery.

He died Saturday at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.

Born June 18, 1901, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late James W. and Mary Mosehart Kendall. He was a retired employee of C&O; Railroad, a member of Hustonville Baptist Church and the widower of Catherine Gaddis Kendall.

Survivors include a son, Vester Kendall Jr. of Moreland; two daughters, Allene Combs and Linnie Dunn, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Willard Kendall.

Pallbearers were David Hoff, Michael Heilman, Michael Moeddel, Eddie Kendall, Frank Horton and John Postel.
