Beatrice Gowen, 89

Beatrice Gowen, 89, of Columbia, Ky., died at 1:32 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia after an illness.

Daughter of the late Walter Lee and Birbie Jane England Compton, she was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church and a retired employee of Union Underwear in Campbellsville.

She was married to Harbert Gowen, who preceded her in death on March 1, 1971.

Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Sneed Samuell, Shirley Corbin, Sylvia Coomer and Glinda Waggener, all of Columbia; one brother, Colby Compton of Columbia; two sisters, Edna Sexton of Louisville, Ky., and Irene Pickett of Scottsville, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Gary Sneed, Barry Corbin, Debra Willis, Sheila Sexton, Sharon Green, Lee Grider and Doug Waggener; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Clayton Compton, Clinton Compton and James Watson Compton; and four sisters, Nina Jessie, Mildred Moore, Ruby Dial and Margaret Jessie.

Funeral was Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Bros. Darrell Karnes and Charles Stanton officiated.

Pallbearers were Randy Dial, Roy Dial, Russell Dial, Ronnie Jessie, Wendall Jessie and Sammy Sexton.

Velma Corbin Harris, 61

Velma Corbin Harris, 61, of Columbia, Ky., died at 6:40 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at her home after an illness.

Daughter of the late James and Bessie Burton Corbin of Adair County, Ky., she was a member of Bloomington Chapel Brethren in Christ and a former nurses' aide.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Thelma and Chuck Glandorf of Knifley, Ky., and Donna and Michael Foster of Columbia; three brothers, Bill Corbin and Fred Corbin, both of Columbia, and Jerry Corbin of Clementsville, Ky.; two sisters, Eula Corbin of Somerset, Ky., and Betty Gilbert of Columbia; five grandchildren, Kate Foster, Carlos Foster, Amandjewell Foster, Andrew Glandorf and Bradley Glandorf.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Harris; and one brother, James Ed Corbin.

Funeral was Sunday, Nov. 7 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Bro. Ralph Foster officiated. Burial was in Bearwallow Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bill Corbin, David Corbin, Jerry Corbin, Carlos Foster, Preston "Shorty" Gilbert and Curtis Hadley.

Honorary pallbearers were Fred Corbin, Michael Foster and Chuck Glandorf.

Dennis Albert Ferrie Jr.

Dennis Albert Ferrie Jr. of Louisville, Ky., died on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at Meadows South Healthcare.

Son of the late Juanita Hisle and Dennis Albert Ferrie Sr., he was a native of Borden, Ind.

Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, James and Diane Ferrie; an aunt and uncle, Donald and Betty Bilbrey; and three nephews, Jamie Ferrie, Wes Ferrie and Tim Ferrie.

Funeral was Thursday, Nov. 4, at Resthaven Funeral Home. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to Gideons Bibles.

Brenda J. Miller, 31

Brenda J. Miller, 31, of Ray Street in Campbellsville, died on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, in Campbellsville.

Daughter of the late Robert E. Miller and Flonnie Anderson Miller, she was born in Wayne County, Ky., on July 28, 1973. She was an employee of Druthers Restaurant.

Survivors include one son, Derick Miller of Campbellsville; two sisters, Debbie Clan of Louisville, Ky., and Judy Rich of Burkesville, Ky.; and three brothers, David Miller of Monticello, Ky., Steve Miller of Somerset, Ky., and Ronnie Miller of Champaign, Ill.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Misty Dawn Miller; and one brother, Terry Miller.

Funeral was Friday, Nov. 5 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Bro. Robbie Spencer officiated. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Brandon Cox, Carvel Cox, Jared Cox, Brian Miller, Kelby Murphy and Jonathan Wallace.

Judith Moss Eastridge, 58

Judith Moss Eastridge, 58, of Camelot Place in Campbellsville, died at 11:12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 in Campbellsville.

Daughter of Nina Williams Moss and the late J.T. Moss, she was born in Marion County, Ky., on May 28, 1946. She was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church and had retired as Taylor County School director of pupil personnel on June 30, 2003.

She was married to Bobby Eastridge on Nov. 21, 1962. He survives.

Survivors also include one son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Jessica Eastridge of Campbellsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Meredith Eastridge and Jon Moore of Campbellsville; five grandchildren, Lauren Eastridge, John Robert Eastridge, Chloe Eastridge, Kensi Moore and Jace Moore, all of Campbellsville; and one sister and brother-in-law, Betty Moss and Calvin Chaney of Campbellsville.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at Campbellsville Baptist Church with burial in Brookside Cemetery. The Rev. Skip Alexander and Pastor Wayne Brooks will officiate.

Pallbearers are Terry Coyle, J.D. Eastridge, W.M. Hall Jr., Palmer McKinney, Jim Noe and Randall Phillips.

Family requests expressions of sympathy be donations to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.

Michael Glenn Burchett, 34

Michael Glenn Burchett, 34, of Hamilton Street in Campbellsville died on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at his home.

Son of Glen and Ora Rae Burchett of Campbellsville, he was a member of Brethren In Christ Church.

Survivors also include six sisters, Helen England and Cary Elaine Cox, both of Campbellsville, Janice Gayle Smith and Michelle Lynn Powell, both of Indiana, Bonita Hull of Tennessee and Shannon Leigh Raikes of Bradfordsville, Ky.

Funeral was Tuesday, Oct. 12 at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel in Campbellsville. Bros. Roy Phillips and Mark Adams officiated. Burial was in Old Liberty Cemetery in Lebanon, Ky.

Pallbearers were Keith England, Byron Humphrey, Kevin Mann, Greg Cox, Danny Milby, Jimmy Raikes and Larry Hull.

Tommy Browning, 83

Tommy Browning, 83, of Bambridge Lane in Campbellsville, died at 6:25 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, in Campbellsville.

Son of the late James Chapman Browning and Mary Dahoney Browning, he was born in Adair County, Ky., on July 26, 1921. He was a member of Green River Memorial Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, a retired farmer and breeder and racer of thoroughbreds.

He married Pauline Bohannon on Aug. 19, 1943. She survives.

Survivors also include four daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Nolan Robinson and Ellyn and Robby Davis, all of Campbellsville, and Janice and Richard Storey and Patty and Michael Martin, all of Lebanon, Ky.; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Gabehart of Campbellsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, George Thomas Browning II; five brothers, Billy Browning, Frank Browning, Richard Browning, Allen Browning and J.C. Browning Jr.; and two sisters, Bernice Morgeson and Elnora Glasscock.

Funeral was Tuesday, Oct. 19 at Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. Don Gowin officiated. Burial was in Haven Hill Cemetery with full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers were Tony Allen, Eric Nally, Jason Nally, Steven Robinson, Caleb Storey, Trevor Storey and Nathan Williams.

Honorary pallbearers were Ivan Barnes, Marion Clark, David Cox, Harold Cruse, Mac Gaskins, Danny Moore, Lacky Peavy, L.M. Read, Walter Rhodes and Max Richerson.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Marion County Veterans or Green River Memorial Baptist Church.
