Steven Allen "Orange" Jolly, 50, died Thursday, October 6, 2005.

He was born January 10, 1955 to the late Herman & Georgie Mae Maines Jolly, was a native of Nicholas Co. and was a painting contractor.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Mary Ann (Gerald) Browning, Carlisle, Andrea (Matt) Burton, Lexington & Danielle Jolly, Richmond, 4 brothers, Herman Jolly, Jr., Cynthiana, Bobby (Jean) Jolly, Nicholasville, James (Jean) & Terry (Judy) Jolly, Carlisle, a sister, Shirley (Freelin) Dotson, Carlisle, 4 grandchildren, Todd & Courtney Browning, Madison & Emily Burton and a special friend Dalphine Goldy.

Services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Mathers-Gaunce F.H. by Bro. James Jolly. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Friday.

Josephine Hogg Flora

Josephine Hogg Flora, 75, widow of Milton Flora died Monday June 26, 2006 at Central Baptist Hospital.

She was born June 23, 1931 in Letcher Co. to the late John B. & Mary Gilley Hogg was a retired employee of Jockey International and was a member of Myers Christian Church.

Survivors include 2 sons, Jim Flora, Mays Lick & Jackie Flora, Carlisle, 3 daughters Virgilene Miller, Maysville, Helen McIntyre, Fleming Co. & Rosie Hughes, Carlisle, a sister, Fiercy Duncan, Carlisle, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter Brenda Fulton.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Mathers-Gaunce F.H. by Bro. Don Wagner. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday.

The Rev. Damon L. Helton, 78, of Route 1 in Corbin, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003 at his home.

He was born in Knox County Feb. 3, 1925 to the late Don Helton and Lillie Pridemore Helton. He worked as a coal miner in Harlan County for several years, 23 years at National Standard Co. in Corbin and pastored several churches in the Harlan, Corbin and Barbourville areas. He was a member of the Keck Baptist Church of Gray and a member of the Masonic Lodge, also of Gray.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jewell Cox Helton; two sons, Phillip Wayne Helton and wife Willa of Corbin and James Russell Helton and wife Glenda, also of Corbin; five grandchildren, all of Corbin; 12 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Opal Campbell of Harlan, Valdean Jones of VanBuren, Arkansas and Donna Smith of Cawood. He is also survived by a great host of friends and loved ones to mourn his passing.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 pm at the Hart Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Carl Gallion officiating. Burial will follow in the Dowis Chapel Cemetery.

The Cumberland Valley Lodge #751 will confer Masonic rites at 7 pm Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be deacons of Keck Baptist Church and Honorary Pallbearers will be all preaching brethren.

Georgetown - Shainon (Shain) Lee Fugate, age 25, died at Georgetown Community Hospital, ER, Saturday, December 31, 2005. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky and was the son of Elijah and Judy Hall Fugate. He worked at Audubon Farms. Beside his parents he is survived by: a brother; Kyle Fugate of Georgetown, KY, maternal grandparents; Robert & Margaret Helm of Oxford, Wisconsin, several aunts and uncles and his girlfriend; Loretta Bailey of Georgetown. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Charlie & Rachel Fugate. Funeral services will be 1 PM, Thurs., 01/05/06 at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home with George Lusby officiating. Burial will be in Midway, KY at Midway Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Kyle Fugate, Kenneth White Jr., Lloyde White, Allan Patten, Timmy Wells, Jimmy Trouget, Davy Hamilton and J.D. Welling. Lu Mattox Brown, 79, of Georgetown, died Sunday of complications from pneumonia. Mrs. Brown, formerly of Lexington and Danville, was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Read Brown. In earlier years, she was an active member of St. Michael's and Christ Church, Lexington. She is survived by two sons, the Rev. Raymond F. Brown of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Nicholas N. Brown of Bowling Green; by two granddaughters, Dr. Katherine M. Brown of Providence, Rhode Island, and Margaret B. Brown of Washington, D. C.; and by a daughter-in-law, Judith M. Brown of Fayetteville. A burial service will be celebrated by the Rev. Anisa Willis at St. Michael's on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Michael's Episcopal Church.

Lester Dillard Brewer, 78 died Wed. Dec. 14, 2005 at his home. He was the widower of Luella Rice Brewer. He was born March 20, 1927 in Scott Co. to the late Mathew Brewer and Morah Shirley Brewer Turpin. He retired from construction work and was a lifetime member of International Union of Operating Engineers local 181.He was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God and a WWII Navy Veteran. Survivors include a son, Lester W. (Sue) Brewer; 3 Daughters, Meryl Patterson, Bessie (Davis) Pollitt, and Morah (Mark) Shell; 10 Grandchildren Tony Paterson, Davy Pollitt, Vanessa Stewart, Mathew Brewer, Jamie Townsend, Luella Barrett, Clarissa Shell, Steven Brewer, Joseph Shell, and Nicky Shell; a step grandson Adam Shell; 14 great grandchildren; 7 Step great grandchildren; 2 adopted great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and his special friend and co-worker of 50 years Nolan Glass. He was preceded in death by 2 sons Roger and Timothy Brewer and a daughter Regina Hope Brewer; and a grandson Lester Russell Pollitt; 2 brothers Woodrow and Harold Brewer; a sister Stella Rankin. Services will be Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at the Tucker, Yocum, and Wilson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Grandchildren. Honorary Bearers will be Nolan Glass, Frankie Rankin, Glen Williams, Harlan Wilson, Tolbart Barnhill, J.B. Walton, and Jackie Kidwell. Visitation will be 5-9 Saturday at the Funeral Home.

Lillian M. Barkley age 77 and the widow of Billy Ray Barkley died Thursday December 22, 2005 at the Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana, Kentucky. She was born on March 30, 1928 inFayette County and was the daughter of the late James T. and Ida Lee Sams Mefford. She is survived by the following family members: Son, David Ray Norton of Sadieville, Ky., Daughters:Betty Lou Reffett and Janet Gail Spigles both of Harrison County, Ky. and Rowena Ray Barkley of Sadieville, Ky. Sisters: Rose Curtis, Pat Morris, Dorothy Gregg and Jean Jenkins all of Georgetown, Ky., Frances Fryman of Sadieville, Ky., and Martha Garnett of Indiana. 9 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Gloria Collins. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Tuesday December 27, 2005 at the Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Gary McQuain officiating, burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery . Henry J. Thomas, 82, of Georgetown, Kentucky, formerly of Bloomington, Illinois, died Sunday afternoon in Georgetown. Mr. Thomas was born December 26, 1923 in Normal, Illinois, a son of Henry and Frieda Thomas.He is survived by his wife of twenty three years, Martha Goldia Thomas, one brother, Orville (Betty) Thomas, of Normal, Illinois and one sister, Henrietta Toepke of Bloomington, Illinois; three daughters, Janet (Rex) Lynn Crow of Blue Mound, Illinois, Cindy (Steven) Glass of St Clair, Michigan, and Debra (Richard) Rotz of Bloomington, Illinois; two stepdaughters, Mary Habenicht of Beecher, Illinois and Phyllis (Ken) Hawkinson of Galesburg, Illinois. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; Kate and Kelly Crow, Stephanie, Stacy, and Nikki Glass, Stephen (Stephanie) Habenicht, Scott (Kristi) Habenicht, Susan (Ed) Orzechowski, Diane (David) Glenn, Christine (Wayne) Swanson and many great grand children.He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty years, Doris Sullivan Thomas, one son, Gregory H. Thomas, a brother, John C. Thomas, and a childhood sister, Frances Marie Thomas and a grandson Spencer Habenicht.Mr. Thomas was a devoted Christian and loving father and grandfather. He was a engineering graduate of the University of Illinois and retired from Clark Equipment Company in Georgetown in 1980. He was a World War II infantry veteran serving in Europe under General George S. Patton. Mr. Thomas was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Georgetown.Funeral services will be at the First Presbyterian Church of Georgetown at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2006. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home, 320 W. Main St, Georgetown, Kentucky. He was born in Georgetown, KY on July 2, 1919 to the late Dorsey Drury & Lola Bell Hammons Sargent. He was a member of Gano Baptist Church, a long time member & deacon of Dry Run Baptist Church, served as Scott County Commissioner in the late 50's, a member of the National Rifle Association & KY Farm Bureau, a retired farmer & former employee of Scott Co. Board of Ed. Beside his wife he is survived by; sons: Dorsie Lee (Denise) & Norvel Marion (Sherry) Sargent, both of Georgetown, KY, daughters: Sue Mitchell Lunsford of Lexington, KY, Dora Marie Gregory of Stamping Ground, KY & Anita ( Herbie) Franklin of Georgetown, KY, a brother: James Harvey Sargent of Sparks, Nevada & sisters: Garnetta Penn & Dorothy Duncan both of Georgetown, 14 grandchildren & 19 great grandchildren. He was a retired Sgt. with the Georgetown Police Dept., Member & Board of Director of the Bluegrass Railroad Museum. and a member of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church Lexington. Survivors beside his wife and parents include sons Michael (Theresa) Weir Lexington and David (Elizabeth) Weir Nicholsville, Stepchildren, Shannon Pierce Georgetown and Anthony Rinehart, Atlanta Ga. 14 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Services will be Thursday Dec. 8, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Good Shephard Episcopal Church Lexington Ky. Pallbearers will be Georgetown Police Officers that he served with.
