Mr. Elton Vernon Morris, 88, of Madisonville, KY, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at 1:12 P.M., at his residence.

Born May 30, 1918, in Christian County, KY, to the late Walter and Mary Martin Morris. In addition to his parents, a daughter, Sandra Kay Martin, also preceded him in death.

He was a member of First Church of God and a U. S. Army WWII veteran. He retired from Island Creek Coal Company after 42 years as a coal miner. He was a member of the UMWA and an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gladys Franklin Morris of Madisonville; two daughters, Rita Dame and Paula Crick, both of Madisonville; one son, Vernon “Buddy” Morris of Morganfield, KY; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and four great - great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at 2:00 P.M., at the Barnett - Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Robert White officiating. Burial will follow in Grapevine Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 6 and VFW Post 5480.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 13, 2006, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and from 12:30 P.M. until the service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Chris Crick, Kevin Crick, Brad Morris, Chase Dame, Erik Dame and Troy Dame.

Mrs. Wilma E. Tyson

Visitation: 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.on Tuesday and from 9:00 A.M. until the service time on Wednesday
Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Barnett - Strother Funeral Home
Interment: New Suthards Cemetery in Earlington

Mrs. Wilma E. Tyson, 67, of Madisonville, KY, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at 5:35 P.M., at the Regional Medical Center.

Born February 8, 1939, in St. Charles, KY, to the late Sylvester Brunson and Kathleen Shipp Brunson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Grace Comiere and Janetta Morrison, and one brother, Tommy Brunson.

She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Madisonville.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, William Tyson of Madisonville; four daughters, Sandra Strong of Madisonville, Lori Combs of Madisonville, Tracy Green of Hopkinsville, KY and Donna Tyson of Madisonville and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at 11:00 A.M., at the Barnett - Strother Funeral Home with Pastor Van Williams and Pastor Laddie Pride officiating. Burial will follow in New Suthards Cemetery in Earlington, KY.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 13, 2006, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and from 9:00 A.M. until the service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Allen Strong, James Combs, Don Burkhart, Bob Schmitt, James Cunningham and Bob Miller.

Memorial donations may be made to Maranatha Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mary Lou Knight

Mrs. Mary Lou Knight, 69, of Madisonville, KY died at 4:30 P.M. Friday, June 9, 2006 at her residence.

Born September 17, 1936 in Henderson County, KY, she was the daughter of Charles W. Badger and Julia Badgett Badger of Grand Rivers, KY.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Madisonville and a member of Lakeshore Ladies Golf Association.

She is survived by her parents, her husband, Joseph E. Knight of Madisonville; two sons, Paul Knight of Princeton, KY and Keith Knight of Louisville, KY; two sisters, Helen Byrum of Evansville, IN, and Rhea Badger of Livingston County, KY; three brothers, Russ, Kirk and Chad Badger all of Livingston County; four grandchildren and one great - grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 12, 2006 at the Barnett - Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Lon Lorton officiating. Graveside services will be private.

Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. Monday until the service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Marshall Lutz, Glenn Lutz, Larry Crouch, Paul Stodgill, Will Mashburn, and Ken Lacy.

Memorial contributions may be made to Green River Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Mr. E.F. “Buck” Hibbs, 84, of Madisonville, KY died at 4:20 A.M. Thursday, June 8, 2006 at the Senior Citizens Nursing Home.

Born July 16, 1921 in Madisonville, he was the son of the late Fred Hibbs and Essie Parker Hibbs. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Alyine Beshears Hibbs on Sept. 16, 1977 and one daughter, Arleen Hibbs in 1990.

He was a retired railroad car repairman and retired in 1998 as custodian of the Hopkins County Court House. He was a member of the Gospel Assembly in Dawson Springs, KY.

He is survived by his wife, Hattie Hibbs of Madisonville; one daughter, LaVerne Jackson of Madisonville; two sons, Fred Hibbs of Birmingham, AL and Ernie Hibbs of Bowling Green, KY; one sister, Ruth Helen Lloyd of Kingsman, AZ; seven grandchildren, five great - grandchildren and four great - great - grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the Barnett - Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Harley Langley officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Nathan Byers, Jason Byers, David Butero, Chris Hibbs, Steve Travis, Justin Randolph and son, Ernie Hibbs.

Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday and on Saturday after 9:00 A.M. Saturday until the services.

Mrs. Gertrude Edwards, 76, of Madisonville, KY died at 4:55 A.M. Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at the Regional Medical Center.

Born March 6, 1930 in Greenville, KY she was the daughter of the late Eugene Sanford and Ethel Jessup Sanford. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ruth Nelson and one son, Wayne Edwards.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Rowland Memorial Baptist Church in Greenville.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, C.L. Edwards of Madisonville; two daughters, Lisa Clayton of Hanson, KY and Fay Metcalfe of Eddyville, KY; one son, Anthony Edwards of Hanson; nine grandchildren and five great - grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 9, 2006 at the Barnett - Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Monroe Rambo officiating. Burial will follow in the West Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chuck Metcalfe, Bruce Wickham, Matt Edwards, Adam Gibson, Eric Edwards, Bernard Smith, Zac Clayton and Nick Clayton.

Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Fay Britt, 69, of Madisonville, KY died at 9:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at his residence.

Born August 8, 1936 in Clarksville, TN he was the son of the late Joseph Eskew Britt and Lily Bell McWhorter Britt.

He was a retired Right of Way Agent for the Commonwealth of KY. He was a member of the Madisonville First United Methodist Church. He served as a Commissioner of the Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Division for 12 years and was an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eva Britt of Madisonville; two sons, Joseph Wilson Britt of Clarksville and Cyrus Ross Britt of Madisonville; one sister, Margie Howse of Rome, GA and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 8, 2006 at the Barnett - Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Weyman McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the service at the funeral home.

Memorial gifts may take the form of donations to the First United Methodist Church.
