Russell Edward Aubrey of Hodgenville

Russell Edward Aubrey, age 59 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Friday, August 5, 2016, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

He was a former employee of Reynolds Inc. in Louisville.

He was preceded in death by a son, Russell Anthony "Tony" Aubrey and his father, Horace John "Buddy" Aubrey.

He is survived by his wife, Shelia Hoback Aubrey, two sons, Jeff Aubrey and Cody (Katie) Aubrey both of Hodgenville, his mother, Mary Duncan Aubrey of Hodgenville, three sisters, Mary Arnold of Brooks, Patricia Webb of Hodgenville and Stella Atwell of Buffalo, two brothers, James Aubrey of Munfordville and John Aubrey of Buffalo and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Shannon McCubbins officiating. Cremation will follow.

Visitation will be 1-8 PM Monday and after 9 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Leslie L. Dever of Prophetstown, Illinois, formerly of Hodgenville

Leslie L. Dever, age 90, of Prophetstown, Illinois, formerly of Hodgenville, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 in Rock Falls, Illinois.

Leslie was born July 19, 1926 in New Haven, KY, the son of Leslie and Alma (Durbin) Dever. He served in the US Navy and later was employed by Dever Construction in Prophetstown, Illinois. Leslie enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, collecting coins and mushroom hunting.

Survivors include three daughters, Pam (Mark) Shaner of Prophetstown, Illinois, Alma (Doug) Dunlap of Lyndon, Illinois and Anne Oncken of Bauxite, Arkansas, a son, Jeff Dever of Buckville, Arkansas, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Edlin Creek Cemetery near Lyons Station.

Visitation will be 4-5 PM Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.

Robert "Bob" Hummer of Hodgenville

Robert "Bob" Hummer, age 60 years, passed away, Thursday, August 11, 2016, at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irby and Kitty Hummer and a brother, Brad Hummer.

After graduation from Western Kentucky University, he was employed by the United States Postal Service, where he worked for 34 years. He served as postmaster at the Hodgenville Post Office for several years. He was a major in the Army Reserves after 15 years of service. Bob was a former member of the Hodgenville Lions and Rotary Clubs, and the Lincoln Museum Board. He was also a member of Saint James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown.

Bob is survived by a sister, Ida Jo Bowling of Bowling Green, a brother, Bill Hummer of Nashville, TN, two nephews, Seth and Nathan Hummer both of Hodgenville and four nieces, Shannon Bowling of Plano, Texas, Cameron Hosenfield, Ginna Hummer, and Cicily Hummer all of Nashville, TN.

A very special thanks to everyone for their visits, calls and cards over the months; especially Hosparus of Central Kentucky for all the care and kindness they provided for Bob and his family.

A family celebration of his life and memorial service will take place at a later date.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hosparus of Central Kentucky PO Box 2149, Elizabethtown, KY 42702, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the local LaRue County Relay for Life.

Mary Jane Lewis Zajdel of Buffalo

Mary Jane Lewis Zajdel, age 77 years, of Buffalo, passed away, Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.

She was a member of the Family Worship Center in Hodgenville, where she was affectionately referred to as "the blessed lady", and was a retired executive secretary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruffus Treadway and Gladys Redman Wade, a sister, and seven brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley Zajdel, three sons, Thomas Lewis of Memphis, TN, Timothy (Rita) Lewis of Louisville and Mark (Wanda) Lewis of Hodgenville, two daughters, Teresa Zajdel and Shanna Zajdel both of Buffalo, a sister, Helen Criss of Nashville, TN, 32 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Family Worship Center with Pastor Mark Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Sonora.

Visitation will begin after 11 AM Tuesday at the church until time for services.

Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville is in charge of the arrangements.

Iva Marie "Mamaw Iva" Phelps of Hodgenville

Iva Marie "Mamaw Iva" Phelps, age 86 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Helmwood Healthcare Center in Elizabethtown.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hodgenville and was a retired bookkeeper at Hardin County Milling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Malcolm and Nettie L. Ragland Chaudoin and two sisters, Rosa Chaudoin and Ruth Rickenbacker.

She is survived by three daughters, Angela (Louis) Humes of Louisville, Anita (Bill) Wright of Florida and Ruth Ann Phelps of Elizabethtown, a son, David Russell (Noli) Phelps of California, five grandchildren, Tabitha (Scott) Ward, Brett Phelps, Toby Tucker, Alena (Carlos) Perez and Gretchen Fraze, and four great-grandchildren, Hattie Ward, Tori Tucker, Gracie Tucker and Kian Perez.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. George Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11 AM to 12:30 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Kentucky Chapter, Kaden Tower, 6100 Dutchman's Lane, Suite 401, Louisville, KY 40205 or the Magnolia Cemetery Fund, in care of, Howard Ragland, 485 Shady Rest Rd. Hodgenville, KY 42748.

Mildred Christine "Chris" Little of Lexington

Mildrend Christine "Chris" Little, age 87, of Lexington, passed away, Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Lexington.

She is survived by a daughter, Janice Kay Hearn of West Virginia; two grandchildren; and a nephew who cared for her, Jack Marcum of Louisville.

Per her request there will be no services.

Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery.

Leroy Gardner of Hodgenville

Leroy Gardner, age 87 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Monday, August 22, 2016 at his residence.

He was retired from civil service at Ft. Knox after 40 years of service, an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of South Fork Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Edna Thomas Gardner, his parents, Creed and Vadie Carter Gardner, two sisters, Alene Clopton and Frances Powell and two brothers, Creed J. Gardner and Arnold Gardner.

He is survived by a brother, Bro. Gerald (Margie) Gardner of Hodgenville and several nieces, nephews, neighbors, church family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Rev. Jonathan Carl officiating. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 11 AM Friday at the funeral home until time for services.
