Larry Wayne Carrington, 60, Loyall, died Feb. 18, 2005, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
A native of Illinois, he was a retired truck driver from Giles Moving and believed in the Holiness faith.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Evan Davenport.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Carrington, Loyall; his mother, Nellie Davenport, Harlan; four children: John D. Laven, Bloomington, Ill.; Larry Carrington Jr., Virginia; Jennifer Blanton, Tennessee; and Crystal Carrington, Loyall; four stepchildren: Lisa Brock and husband, Wayne, Tremont; Katherine Estes and husband, James, Loyall; Donna Brock, Loyall; and Bradley Johnson, Loyall; nine grandchildren: Justin Templeton, Catlyn Brock, Josh Estes, DeShawn Estes, Chris Estes, LaDonna Kelly, Russell Engle, Chrissy Estes and Jamie Estes; five great grandchildren: Shawn Estes Jr., LaQuesha Estes, Haley Estes, Antonio Phillips and James Phillips; and several other friends and relatives.
Visitation was Sunday in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Lonnie Napier and Pastor Ronnie Williams officiating.
Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas D. Creech
Groveland, Florida
February 26, 2005
Thomas D. Creech, 38, Groveland, Fla., formerly of Cumberland, died Feb. 26, 2005, of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Groveland.
He was a native of Cumberland and a resident of Groveland, Fla., for the past 16 years. He was a former employee of Roses Department Store in Cumberland and K-Mart of Harlan. He was employed as a mechanic by Stone Automative Repair in Groveland. Thomas was a member of the First Christian Church of Cumberland.
Survivors include his parents, Herbert and Thelma Mattox Creech, Cumberland; one brother, Benjamin Creech and wife, Kristi, Lexington; and one sister, Elaine Creech Hewitt, Lansing, Mich.
Visitation is Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Tri-City Funeral Home in Benham and after 11 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Cumberland.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Cumberland with the Rev. Russell Burbank and the Rev. Robert Warren officiating.
Burial will follow in Huff Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jack Franklin, Dennis Daugherty, Larry Gray, Brandon Burton, Michael Burton and Terry Creech.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Warren, Jimmy Dixon and Darris Brock.
Tri-City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

George R. Cupp
Memphis, Tennessee
February 27, 2005
George R. Cupp, 75, Memphis, Tenn., died Feb. 27, 2005.
A native of Harlan County, he was a former employee of Modern Electric and Cumberland Valley Music Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Montana Sowders Cupp.
Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Gunter Williams, Hudson, Fla.; a son, David G. Cupp, Cordova, Tenn.; three sisters: Dolphia Branim, and Eva Cupp, both of Memphis; and Vera Allen, Garrett; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in Memory Hill Gardens.
Memphis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John Burton Damron
Pikeville
February 23, 2005
John Damron
John Burton Damron, Pikeville, 90, died Feb. 23, 2005, at Cedar Assisted Living Facility.
He was born in Pike County on June 10, 1914, and was a coal miner. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lizzie Sword Damron and King Solomon Damron; his wife, Lynn Lowe Damron; three deceased sisters and two deceased brothers.
Survivors include two daughters: Marilyn Jean Lay and husband, Arlie, Harlan; and Cathy Lynn England and husband, Bill, Pikeville; a brother, Willie Auxier Damron, Toler's Creek; a sister, Nellie Mae Adkins, Ecorse, Mich.; a special niece, Doris Scott; two grandchildren: Jean Lay Ely, Harlan; and Arlie Lay III and wife, Stephanie, Harlan; two step-grandchildren: William England III and Jason England; four great-grandchildren: John Philip Ely Jr., Tyler Lowe Ely, Devin Kyle Lay and Justin Matthew Lay; several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends at Cedar Creek Assisted Living.
Visitation is today after 7 p.m. at J.W. Call Funeral Home in Pikeville. Evening services will be held today at 7:30 p.m. and Friday at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church with Sam Crawford officiating.
Burial will follow at Davidson Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Merlyn Wilburn, Taylor Bishop, William England III, Saul Wright, Barry Wright, Arlie Lay III and Billie Joe Justice.
Honorary pallbearers are Mac Hall, Dean Conn, Carl P. Mims and Dr. R.V. Metty.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Damron's memory may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 5469 North Mayo Trail, Pikeville, Ky., 41501 or the American Cancer Society, 4338 13th St., Ashland, Ky. 41102-5432.

Dana Joyce Owens Dixon
Beaver Falls, Penn.

Dana Joyce Owens Dixon, 57, Beaver Falls, Penn. died March 4, 2005, in the Aspinwall VA Medical Center, Pittsburgh, Penn.
Born Dec. 19, 1947, in Partridge, she served in the U.S. Air Force as a medic and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son, Robert Dixon and wife, Donna, Beaver Falls, Penn.; a daughter, Andrea Langford, Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren: Joshua Langford and Abigail Dixon; a brother, Keith Owens, Lewis Creek; two sisters: Geneva Tollaver, Partridge; and Tiny Creech, Partridge; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Riley Ernest and Samantha Raleigh Owens; her husband, Thomas Dixon; and a sister, Sylvia Works.
Visitation is Sunday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at the Tri-City Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Tri-City Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Maggard Cemetery, Partridge.

John Farley
Evarts
February 20, 2005
John 'Tarzan' Farley, 69, died at his home Feb. 20, 2005, after a battle with cancer.
He was born and raised in Evarts, where he graduated from Evarts High School. He attended Morehead State University and served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He worked for the state of Kentucky for several years as a state inspector and then went on to work for National Life Insurance, later known as American General. There, he was a staff manager and agent, winning many awards for sales in that field. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mellie and John Farley Sr.; and three brothers: HC, Creed and James.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanne; son, Brent Farley and daughter-in-law, Libby; his daughter, Stacy Smith and son-in-law, Troy; four grandchildren: Devan Farley, Tori Borders, Emily Farley and Lucas Smith; two step-grandchildren: Jason Sparks and Jessika Neace; two sisters: Sue Hagy; and Carol Pridemore and brother-in-law, Clarence Pridemore, Evarts; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Micheal Newland officiating.
Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery.
Kerr Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jeanette Gilpin
Dowling Park, Florida
February 18, 2005
Jeanette Gilpin, 72, Dowling Park, Fla., formerly of Loyall, died Feb. 18, 2005.
She was a retired nurses aide for Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital and a retired secretary of Holiday Apartments. She was also a member of the Loyall Church of God and a member of the Church of God of Dowling Park, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Gilpin; her parents, Grant Powers and Pearl Hibbard Powers; and one brother, Buddy Ferguson Powers.
She is survived by three children: Crystal Jones and husband, Frank, Live Oak, Fla.; Gloria Mitchell and husband, Jim, Harlan; and Mike Gilpin and wife, Kim, Covington; seven grandchildren: James Gilpin, Kimberly Gilpin Coburn, Elizabeth Gilpin, Melissa Lay, Steve Mitchell, Amelia Jones and Joel Jones; and five great grandchildren: James Brown, James Mitchell, Dalton Lay, Alexandria Coburn and Elizabeth Coburn.
Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Loyall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Loyall Church of God with the Rev. Frank Jones and Rev. Kenneth Turner officiating.
Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Loyall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
