Juanita Saunders
1915-2009
FLEMINGSBURG - Juanita Saunders, age 93, of Pioneer Trace Nursing Home, Flemingsburg, Kentucky, died on Monday, April 27, 2009.
Ms. Saunders was born November 28, 1915, in Fleming County, Kentucky, the daughter of Alvin T. Saunders and Lillie Nealis Saunders. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Saunders and Alvin W. Saunders; two sisters, Mildred Teater and Eldiva Wood; and a nephew, Paul Saunders.
She is survived by a sister, Olive Waterman of Norman, Oklahoma; nephews, James Saunders, Donald Saunders, and Gerald Saunders; and her longtime caregiver, Mabel Hamilton.
Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2009, at the Hillsboro Cemetery with the Rev. Marvin W. Suit officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Kentucky.

Alice Howard Back
1932-2007
WELLINGTON - Alice Howard Back, age 75, of Wellington, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. She was born May 8, 1932, in Morgan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Conley and Sadie Morris Howard. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, J. K. Back, on September 15, 2005; one son, Cordell Back; two grandsons, Michael Timothy Fugate and Kyle Layne Back; one granddaughter, Alicia Back; one great-grandson, Austin Back; one brother, Curtis Howard; and two sisters, Cora Flack and Bertha Marie Howard.She is survived by four sons, William Back and Betty Fugate, Mike Back, and Estill and Sabrina Back, all of Wellington, Kentucky, and Grady and Tammy Back of Olympia, Kentucky; three daughters, Kathy and A.C. Rigsby and Connie and Leslie Viars, all of Wellington, Kentucky, and Media and Delbert Fairchild of Xenia, Ohio; one brother, Billy Lee Howard of Berea, Kentucky; two sisters, Barbara Jean Howard of Morgan County, Kentucky, and Betty Phillips of Peebles, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.Mrs. Back was a homemaker, a member of the Lions Club and a member of the Korea Church of God.Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2007, at the Korea Church of God with the Rev. David Hale officiating. Burial was in the Back Cemetery in Menifee County. Visitation was at the Korea Church of God at Wellington after 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2007, and after 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2007. Dorothy Louise Swim Van Corbach
1928-2007
MOREHEAD - Dorothy Louise Swim Van Corbach, age 79, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. She was born July 15, 1928, at Bluestone, Kentucky, in Rowan County and was the daughter of the late William and Minnie Sands Swim. Survivors include her husband, William B. Van Corbach; one son, Robert Van Corbach of Norman, Oklahoma; and one granddaughter, Meredith Van Corbach. Dorothy was a graduate of Farmers Elementary School and Morehead High School, where she was a cheerleader. She also attended Morehead State University. She was a homemaker and had been a General Telephone operator and an antique dealer. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gregg Whitt officiating. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Leo Williams, Ben Williams, Aaron Whitt, Mathew Dickens and Greg Whitt. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2007, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals.

James Wells
1922-2007
FLEMINGSBURG - James W. Wells, age 85, Stockwell Ave., Flemingsburg, Ky., passed away Wednesday Oct. 10, 2007. Mr. Wells was a retired supervisor with Farm Bureau Insurance; retired from the Board of Directors of Fleming Mason Energy; a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of Morehead Masonic Lodge #654. He was born in Fleming County, Kentucky Feb. 26, 1922. His parents were the late Oscar and Vada Williams Wells. Survivors: Wife Betty Hutton Wells, Flemingsburg; 1 son John L. (Jan) Wells, Madison, Alabama; 1 stepdaughter, Brenda (Carroll) Vice, Flemingsburg; 2 sisters, Berniece Leet (Porter) Grant, Flemingsburg, and Edith Wilson, Flemingsburg; 1 brother, Leslie Wells, Mountain Grove, Missouri. Also survived by 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 2 step grandsons and 2 step great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife, Muriel Whitton Wells, 7 sisters, Ella Simons, Lucille Carpenter, Christine Dotson, Dolene McCord, Ruby Boggess, Ruth Whitton, and Grace Bentley. Funeral services were 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Flemingsburg with Rev. Ray Snider and Rev. H.G. Pratt officiating. Burial in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Masonic services were Friday conducted by the Morehead Masonic Lodge. Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to First United Methodist Church, 117 W. Main Street, Flemingsburg, KY 41041.

Blake Thomas Phillips
2007-2007
MOREHEAD - Blake Thomas Phillips, infant son of Brad Phillips and Mary Greeley Phillips of Fallen Timber Branch, Clearfield, passed away at birth on October 13, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Taylor Phillips and Ashley Phillips, both at home; paternal grandfather, Bill Phillips of Clearfield; and maternal grandmother, Christine Lambert Greeley of Clearfield. Graveside services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2007, at the Clearfield Cemetery with Brother Gerald Saunders officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals.

Adron Howard Coldiron
1926 – 2006
MOREHEAD – Adron Howard Coldiron, 80, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2006 in the Mountain Crest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was born on May 6, 1926 in Rowan County, Kentucky to the late Allie Walter and Mandy Bray Coldiron.
Mr. Coldiron was a retired technician for an ink manufacturing company and he was a United States Army Veteran. He was of the Church of Christ Faith and enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds play ball and playing cards.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Eulene White Coldiron who passed away on March 13, 1989, one daughter, Donna Dean Gilreath who passed away on February 23, 2004, one brother, Albert Coldiron; one granddaughter Peggy Gilreath and one great-granddaughter, Veronica Gilreath.
Survivors include three brothers, David Coldiron of Houston, Texas, Charles Paul Coldiron of Miamisburg, Ohio and Carl Coldiron of Sandy Hook, two sisters, Daisy Fraley of Elliottville and Molly Browning of Chillicothe, Ohio, three grandchildren, Allen Gilreath, Terry Gilreath, and Crystal Vanover, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, August 16, 2006 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Bill Catron and Clint Kelsey officiating. Burial will follow in the White Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Donald C. (Pete) Ison
1966-2006
MOREHEAD - Donald C. (Pete) Ison, age 40, of Big Brushy Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2006. He was born July 25, 1966, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and is the son of Donnie Ison and Lahoma Eldridge Ison of Morehead.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Katrina Jackson Ison; two daughters, MyKenzie Dawn Ison and Katie Marie Ison, both at home; one son, Jaramei Ison of Edmond, Oklahoma; two brothers, Sgt. George S. Ison with the U.S. Army and Jimmy Ison of Morehead, Kentucky; and one sister, Donna June Ison of Toledo, Ohio.
Pete served his country in the U.S. Army and was an employee of Nestle in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. He was a great outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with the Rev. Cecil Ison officiating; burial will follow in the Jackson Cemetery on Maxey Flat Road with full military rites conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Eddie Meckelburg, Matt Crawford, A. J. Stevens, Mike Branham, Chuck Ferguson, and Paul Roberts. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Vernon E. King
1938-2006
MOREHEAD - Vernon E. King, age 68, of Christian Street, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2006, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born March 27, 1938, in Carter County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late John and Edna Artis King. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clayton King and Marion King, and two sisters, Oretha Hall and Betty Layne King.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Cox King; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Wanda King of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and John Elliott of Morehead, Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Dalton King, Raegan King and Lauren Elliott. Other survivors include one brother, Phillip King of Dade City, Florida; three sisters, Bernice Carter of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Juanita Colegrove of Grayson, Kentucky, and Dixie Charnley of Hartford City, Indiana.
Vernon served in the National Guard for six years, was a former bus driver at Morehead State University, and a former truck driver for Earnie Weaver. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with the Rev. Lloyd Dean and the Rev. Michael Anderson officiating; burial will follow at Cox Cemetery at Elliottville with full military rites conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Elvis Middleton, Shane Middleton, Carlos Cox, Doug Easton, Melvin Hall, Ricky Charnley, Tim Hall, Jeff Hall, and Mike Hall. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Charles Edward (Edd) Kiser
1926-2006
MOREHEAD - Charles Edward (Edd) Kiser, age 80, of Maxey Flat Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2006, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. He was born July 31, 1926, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Hiram Ashbrook Kiser and Fannie Jane Roberts Kiser.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Ruth Curtis Kiser; six sons: Ricky Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada; Roger Johnson of Brighton, Michigan; Randal Johnson of Columbus, Ohio; Phillip Edward Kiser of Freeport, Florida; Bruce Johnson of Columbus, Ohio; and Charles Ashley Kiser of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; three daughters: Susan Baker of Howe, Indiana; Sharon Findlay of Durham, North Carolina; and Libby Adkins of Lexington, Kentucky; six sisters: Betty Hall of Wallingford, Kentucky; Lillian Kiser of Morehead, Kentucky; Lou Selby of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; Pauline Mellot of Yorktown, Indiana; Olive Whetsel of Muncie, Indiana; and Ruby Fannin of Murray, Kentucky; 24 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Kiser served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, retired from the Kentucky State Highway Department after 25 years of service, and was a farmer. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Christian Church.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 2006, at Mt. Pisgah Christian Church with the Rev. James DeAtley and the Rev. Commodore Manning officiating; burial was in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with full military rites conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Active pallbearers were Jackie Shields, Rockie Shields, Robert Drake, Randy Bradley, Johnny Rigdon, and Greg Keeys. Honorary pallbearers were Paris Jackson, Jr., Paul Tranbarger, Willie Lee Pennington, Eddie Johnson, and Vencil Eldridge. Arrangements were under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Frankie Joe Dulin
1960-2006
MOREHEAD - Frankie Joe Dulin, age 46, of Mabry Ridge, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 4, 2006, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born November 30, 1960, in Morgan County, Kentucky, he is the son of Clayton and Inda Sue Gambill Dulin of West Liberty, Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Joyce Kay Sloan Dulin; one daughter, Sarah Dulin, at home; three stepdaughters, Beth James of Morehead, Kentucky, Crystal Caudill of Clearfield, Kentucky and Kayla James of Farmers, Kentucky; one brother, William Dulin of West Liberty, Kentucky; and two sisters, Joyce Watson and Ressie Stacy, both of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Santana Adkins and Dalton Caudill; one grandchild to be born soon; two nephews, Jr. Stacy and J. C. Watson. One brother, Leroy Dulin, preceded him in death.
Joe was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union #248 in Lexington, Kentucky, and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of the Zag Community Church.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Donald Cox officiating; burial was in the McClain Cemetery on Route 172 in Morgan County. Pallbearers were Sammy Adkins, Denzil Hall, Shane Henderson, Justin Sloan, Dale Sloan, and Rick Manns. Visitation Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
