Max Goldberg
FALMOUTH – Max Goldberg, 94, of Falmouth, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19. He is survived by one nephew, Stephen Goldberg of Morehead. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth. Interment with full military honors by the Hardin-Browning Post #109 will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 4-7 p.m. and Sunday from 1-2 p.m.

Myrtle Faye Gulley Brown
1926-2007
MOREHEAD - Myrtle Faye Gulley Brown, age 81, of Brown Lane, Morehead, Kentucky passed away Thursday, November 8, 2007, at her residence.
She was born September 21, 1926, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late William Harvey and Flora Estee Buckner Gulley.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harold Eugene Brown, whom she wed January 27, 1945; two sons, Dallas and Nancy Brown of Morehead, Kentucky, and Randy Eugene and Beverly Brown of Nicholasville, Kentucky; two daughters, Linda and Paul Boudreaux of Morehead, Kentucky, and Lesa and Tom Crose of Muncie, Indiana; four brothers, Harold Gulley of Morehead, Carl Gulley of Muncie, Indiana, William Gulley of Richmond, Indiana, and Howard Gulley of Morehead, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Tony Brown, Jeremy Boudreaux, Ryan Brown, Joshua Cooper, Matthew Boudreaux, Brady Brown, Erin Brown, and Adam Brown; and six great-grandchildren. Special thanks are extended to Hospice nurse Cheryl Bridenthal, and Vonda Davis, her caregiver.
Mrs. Brown was a former employee of the Rowan County School System at Tilden Hogge Elementary and a member of the Morehead Apostolic Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Funeral services were conducted 3:30 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Michael Anderson and the Rev. Lloyd Dean officiating. Burial was in the Clark Cemetery. Grandchildren served as pallbearers.
Arrangements were under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Emmitt Eugene (Gene) Carroll
1934-2007
MOREHEAD - Emmitt Eugene (Gene) Carroll, age 73, of Rockledge, Florida, died on Friday, November 9, 2007, in Rockledge. He was born in Fultz, Kentucky, on January 15, 1934, son of the late Rufus and Nellie Carroll.
He moved to Florida in March of 1982 from Austin, Texas. He was a retired civil service employee. His civil service career began at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Texas, relocating to Patrick Air Force Base in March of 1982, then to CCAFS in 1986. He served a total of 22 years in civil service. Gene also served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and had assignments in Korea, Vietnam, and Europe, retiring at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas. Gene was an avid golfer, loved to play poker, was an active supporter of Kids Without Christmas, C.I.T.A, and the Central Brevard Humane Society.
Gene is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lesley. Survivors also include his daughter, Melisa Ann Carroll; stepdaughter, Lynn D. (Keith) Admire; stepson, Robert A. (Lyndy) Olinger; sister, Agnes Henderson; in-laws, Andy and Audrey Whitney; and six grandchildren: Luke, Randy, Joshua, Jordan, Nicholas, and Natalie.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Allan Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Carroll-Littleton Cemetery in Olive Hill with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Visitation is Friday, November 16, 2007, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Hobert Lewis Cassity
1929-2007
ZILPO – Hobert Lewis Cassity, 78, of Dogwood Lane passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007, at ARH in West Liberty succumbing to an extended illness that he fought to the very end.
He was born April 29, 1929, in Yale, Kentucky, to the late Joseph Sr. and Flora Alley Cassity. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Jr. Cassity.
Survivors include one brother, Carl Alley Cassity and wife Joan of Zilpo, Kentucky, and five beloved nieces: Carolyn Cassity Sanders (Darrell), Lynn Cassity, Carmen Cassity, Kari Cassity, and Connie Cassity.
Hobert received his primary education from Salt Lick and continued on to the Cleveland Institute of Electronics where he earned an advanced communications engineering diploma.
Hobert served his country in the United States Army and Air Force, where he was granted a “Sustained Superior Performance Award.” He continued his service at the Bluegrass Army Depot where he retired.
After his service in the Armed Forces, he returned home to Cave Run Lake where he operated his own C.B. & Ham Radio Business and proudly wore the C.B. handle of “Snake on the Lake.”
More importantly his return home brought him the overwhelming joy of caring for his mother until her death at age 105.
When his mother would let him, Hobert would spend every spare minute doing what he loved most – golfing at Carrington Greens (in fact she threatened to sue the course if he continued playing as much as he did)!
Hobert also enjoyed riding his motorcycles, hiking, and just being on the lake. He loved spending time with his family and spoiling his nieces.
Hobert was a member of Farmers Christian Church where he served as a board member and deacon.
Uncle will be sadly missed by all that had the privilege to know him.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 15, 2007, at the Farmers Christian Church with Brother William Teegarden and Dr. Jack Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Carey Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers will be Gary Murray, Garry Glover, Billy Jones, Rudy Jones, Danny Brotherton, Rick Stalder, Roy Dale Byrd, and Bob Alley.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Robert (Bob) Lee Grey
1929-2007
MOREHEAD - Robert (Bob) Lee Grey, age 78, of Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2007 at his residence.
He was born May 6, 1929, Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Esther Woods Grey and stepfather Leonard Grey. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Nathaniel Grey.
Mr. Grey is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Yvonne Sargent Grey; two sons, Len Grey and wife Donna of Morehead, Kentucky, and Michael Grey and wife Rebecca of Carbondale, Illinois; one daughter, Janet Grey of Morehead, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Drew Grey, Ryan Grey, Will Grey, Kayla Grey, Emily Grey, and Megan Grey; and a special cousin, Martha Jean Farmer of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Also surviving are several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Bob’s family moved to Morehead in 1942. He and his mother owned and operated the Dixie Grill from 1942 until 1969. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1951 through 1954, and retired from the U. S. Postal Service in 1986 with 28 years of service. He was a member of the Morehead Volunteer Fire Department for twenty years.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Wendell Clevenger officiating. Full military rites were conducted at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Burial was in the Sargent Family Cemetery in Greenup, Kentucky.
Grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were former and current members of the Morehead Volunteer Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes are suggested to St. Claire Hospice, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351 or Morehead Fire Club, 135 Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, KY 40351.
Arrangements were under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Jason Scott Hodges
1976-2007
MOREHEAD - Jason Scott Hodges, age 31, of Kentucky Avenue, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007, at his residence.
He was born March 26, 1976, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and is the son of Leroy Hodges, Jr. and JoAnn Black Hodges. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Donna Sue Melton Hodges, whom he married March 6, 1998; one son, Jacob Scott Hodges and one daughter, Destiny Marie Hodges, both at home; one sister, Leigh Ann Lambert and husband Bo of Morehead; paternal grandparents, Leroy and Norma Ellington Hodges of Morehead; one niece, Alexandra Lambert; and one nephew, Dylan Lambert.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Woodford and Hazel Stidom Black.
Jason was a former heavy equipment operator and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Fannin and Brother Richard Engle officiating. Burial will follow in the Black Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bud Cox, Ralph Cox, Arvil Brown, Jim Bo Moore, Junior Wallace, Woody Black, Tony Black, Steve Hodges, and David Lambert.
Visitation is after 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Dorothy Albers Perry Horsley
1913-2007
MOREHEAD - Dorothy Albers Perry Horsley, age 94, of Carter County, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2007, at the Brakebill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.
She was born January 16, 1913, in Carter County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Cora Reeder Perry. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Horsley, on September 24, 1984; one sister Murl Alexander; and one half brother, Ted Reeder.
She is survived by three sons, Bernard E. (Joyce) Horsley of Manchester, Tennessee, William Ronald Horsley of London, Ohio, and Mark B. (Debbie) Horsley of Dickson, Tennessee; three daughters, Phyllis Gail Horsley of New York City, New York, Kathleen (Bob) Graham of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Carmen (Tom) Chandler of Milton, Kentucky; one sister, Rachel Erwin of Lucasville, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Ronda Johnson, Malinda Deacon, Timothy Horsley, Paul Horsley, Brent Graham, Donna Humphries, Blake Graham, and Holly Ginn; and thirteen great-grandchildren, William David (Billy) Deacon, Nathaniel Johnson, Joshua Horsley, Jeremiah Horsley, Debbie Deacon, Sharon Deacon, Rebecca Deacon, Jenna Graham, Kaylyn Graham, Nathan Graham, Wesley Graham, Caleb Graham, and Jenna Ginn.
Mrs. Horsley was a former employee of the U.S. Shoe Factory in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, and Hillsboro Elementary cafeteria. She enjoyed homemaking and was an avid quilter and wonderful cook. A member of the Church of Christ, Mrs. Horsley always studied the Bible and put God first in her life.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Darrell Pinkerton officiating. Burial was in the Bowen Chapel Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky.
Pallbearers were grandsons and nephew Clinton Alexander, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons.
Arrangements were under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
