VENDEL

Mollie M. (Harris) Vendel, 65, of Ingalls passed away June 25, 2013 at her home. She was born March 20, 1948 in Wallins Creek, KY to the late Delbert B. and Mildred Constance (Blanton) Harris. Mollie was a construction worker for Little Construction Company.

She is survived by her husband Bob Vendel whom she married July 15, 2000 in Ingalls; daughters Chara L. Bickle of Indianapolis and Tara D. (Anthony J.) Haynes of Williamstown, KY; grandchildren Jon H. and Silas G. Haynes; brothers Delbert F. Harris of Wallins Creek, KY and David B. Harris of Ooltewah, TN; and sisters Martha R. Smith of Lily, KY.

She was preceded in death by sisters Dessie L. Smith and Dorothy Jean Harris. Per her wishes, there will be no services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC, 20090-6929.

YORK

Dennis Wade York, 48 of Harlan passed away Thursday June 20, 2013 at St. Joseph East, Lexington.

Dennis was born April 28, 1965 to the late Obie York and Mona Belle Day York. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Roger York and sister, Loretta Wallace.

He is survived by his wife Melissa Helton York; his children, Chris (Vivian) York, Dennis York, Jr., April York, Bridget York; 1 grandson, Brayden York; brothers, Mitchell (Linda) York, John (Brenda) York, Obie (Julie) York, Jr, Darrell York; sisters, Bridget Taylor, Bertha York, Jill (Freddie) Burke, Ginger (Rick) Moses; he leaves a host of nieces and nephews to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be Friday June 28, 2013 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones.

Burial will follow in the York Family Cemetery, Wallins.

Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home is honored to be serving the York Family.

DEBUSK

Carl Smith Debusk, 88 of Pansy passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at his home.

He is the husband of Polly Hensley Debusk.

MEEKS

Billy R. Meeks, 77, passed away on July 1, 2013. He was born Nov. 13. 1935 in Loyall and work on the Astronaut Rescue Team for Fire and Rescue Department at the Kennedy Space Center.

COCHRAN

Thelma Naomi Smith Cochran, 71, of Evarts went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport following a brief illness. Born September 20, 1941 in Harlan County, she had lived here all of her life. She was a homemaker and believed in the Pentecostal faith.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Oreain Luther Cochran, Jr.; her parents, Roy Smith and Celia Thompson Smith; one sister, Linda Gail Smith; and three brothers, Roy Ed Smith, Bill Smith and Frank Smith.

Survivors include five children, Teresa Phillips and husband, Ralph, Kildav; Jane Perkins, Coxton; Marie Perkins and husband, Terry, Coxton; Oreain Wayne Cochran, Kildav; and Stewart Cochran, Evarts; two sisters, Lana Risner and husband, Dewey; and Joyce Amburgey, all of Verda; three brothers, Roger Smith and wife, Debbie, Evarts; Harold Smith, Somerset; and Johnny Smith, Evarts.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Melissa Phillips, Jonathan Phillips and wife, Ashley, Amanda Perkins and Trisha Perkins; four great-grandchildren, Megan, Hayley, Ryan and Kialia Phillips; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Guthrie and the Reverend Chris Napier officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Evarts Funeral Home is in charge of her arrangements.

LANGFORD

Stella Mae Langford, age 77 passed away Tuesday April 16, 2013 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born in the Board Branch section of Smith.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 PM Friday April 19, 2013 at the Mountain Assembly Church of God with Rev. Frank Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 PM at the church Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com

FOUTCH

Mr. John D. Foutch Jr., 81, of Barbourville, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 18, 2013 at the Knox County Hospital. He was a son of the late John D. and Eva Jackson Foutch born on November 20, 1931 at Victory.

Mr. Foutch was a retired middle school teacher from the Lynch Independent School System. He was a member of the East Barbourville Baptist Church and enjoyed the computer, playing poker, trading stocks and was an avid UK fan. He faithfully served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

On July 30, 1954, he united in marriage with Geraldine Osborne in Rock, NC and to this union two children were born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Curtis Foutch.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Foutch of Barbourville; two children, Roger Foutch and wife, Jennifer, of Tallahassee, FL and Randy Foutch and wife, Theresa, of Bardstown; a brother, James Bradley Foutch and wife, Faye, of Alexandria; three grandchildren, Brandon and wife, Halle, Bryan and Bradley; a great grandson, Nathan Roger; a sister-in-law, Lois Jean Foutch of Alexandria; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, April 21 at 2 P.M. with Rev. James Vandy and Rev. Josh Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Landrum Cemetery at East Bernstadt with military funeral honors.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday after 12 noon until the funeral hour.
