Jerry Paul Fultz
Born: Mon., Jul. 14, 1930
Died: Tue., Jun. 3, 2014

Jerry Paul Fultz, 83 of Loyall, Kentucky died June 3, 2014 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. He had served his country in the U.S. Air force and had worked at Manalapan Mining for several years. He was a former member of the Loyall Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Hall Fultz; his parents, Irvin and Etta Fultz; brothers, Jack Fultz and Robert Fultz.

Surviving are two daughters, Jackie King of Loyall and Vickie Sergent of Loyall; two special grandchildren that he considered and raised as his own, Ronnie King and Cissy King Daniels, he was the only father they knew; grandchildren, Joshua Sergent and Cammi Sergent; great-grandchildren Rylee Sergent, Halee Creech, Madison Creech, and Jace Daniels; and brother, Glen Fultz of Kitts.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7:00 PM with the Reverends Perry Long and Jesse Kinder officiating.

Interment will be Friday, June 6, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Resthaven Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by the Harlan Honor Guard and they will serve as pallbearers.

Frances (Howard) Ball
Born: Tue., Jun. 5, 1917
Died: Mon., Jun. 2, 2014

Frances Howard Ball, 96, of Harlan (Sunshine), Kentucky died peacefully at her home Monday, June 2, 2014. Frances was a Lifelong resident of the Harlan Area, She loved going to church, traveling and doing cross word puzzles. She was a retired school teacher with the Harlan Independent School System; she was a lifelong member of the Sunshine Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Flem Ball; parents, Hiram and Sudie Howard; her brother, Reed (Lillian) Howard; two sisters, Lola (Dewey) Gentry and Luella (Jim) Lankford; and son-in-law, Frank Bryant.

Surviving are her son, Jim (Kay) Ball; daughter, Susan Bryant of Harlan; grandchildren, Frank Bryant, Jr., Jonathan (Jamie) Bryant, Darius (Shannon) Ball, and Jimmy Joe (Teresa) Ball; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Bryant, Marissa Bryant, Darion Ball, Lucas Ball, Shelby Ball, and Austin Ball. Also surviving are special friends Lana and Don Carmical, Randi Lee and Gary Grant.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Anderson- Laws and Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will follow the visitation Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home. The Rev. Ernest Boggs will be officiating the services.

Interment services will be Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, Kentucky. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Bessie (Noe) Trammell
Born: Mon., Mar. 14, 1932
Died: Fri., Jan. 24, 2014

Bessie Trammell, 81 of Wallins passed away Friday Jan. 24, 2014 at the Harlan ARH.

Bessie was born March 14, 1932 in Dayhoit, KY to the late John D. and Bertha Day Noe. She was a homemaker and attended Bannerfork Pentecostal Church. She loved baking for her family and friends.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Luster Trammell and granddaughter, Crystal Roberts Trammell; stepson, Raymond Trammell.

She is survived by 3 loving children, Danny (Brenda) Trammell of Wallins, Teddy (Regina) Trammell of Wallins, and Kim (Glenn) Helton of Pathfork, KY; 3 stepchildren, Ronnie Trammell of New Carlisle, OH, Nora D. Hensley, Huber Heights, OH, and W C Trammell of Cincinnati, OH; she leaves 5 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be Monday (Jan. 27) from 5 until 7:00 pm at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Don Thomas officiating.

Graveside services will be at 12:00 pm on Tuesday (Jan. 28) at the Resthaven Cemetery in Keith, KY.

Peggy Jo (Nicholas) Jones
Born: Tue., Oct. 31, 1944
Died: Fri., Jan. 24, 2014

Peggy Jo Jones, 69 of Wallins passed away Friday Jan. 24, 2014 at her home.

Peggy was born Oct. 31, 1944 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to the late Wallace and Mearl Brunner Nicholas. She was a homemaker and believed in the Christian faith.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Jesse Jones on Oct. 7, 2013; her daughter Lisa Nicholas and son Jim Jones; 1 brother, Doug Nicholas.

She is survived by three daughters, Jessica Gaydos of Wallins, Lottie (Willie) Jeffries of Sand Springs, OK, and Crystal (Kelly Kent) Jones of Lakemore, IL; 1 brother, Arkie (Mary Lou) Nicholas of Arkansas; 1 sister, Connie (Bill) Dotson of Illinois; Six Grandchildren: Serena Angellotti, Jesse Jones, Joseph Jeffries, Amanda Schleehauf, Kayla Kent, and Jim Kent along with two great grandchildren: Michael and Jesse Rochester; she leaves several nieces, nephews other relatives to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be Tuesday (Jan. 28) from 1-3:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Graveside services will follow at 3:30 pm at the Park Howard Cemetery in Wallins.

Mary Helen (Franks) Sizemore
Born: Tue., Jul. 31, 1945
Died: Tue., Jan. 21, 2014

Mary Helen Sizemore, 68 of Harlan passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 at the Harlan ARH.

Mrs. Sizemore was born July 31, 1945 in Harlan, KY to the late Harmon and Martha Couch Franks. She was a former nursing aide at the Harlan Health & Rehabilitation Center.

She is survived by her Sons, Dewey and Johnny Sizemore; her grandson, Michael James Sizemore; brother, Steven Gene Franks all of Harlan. She leaves other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be held Monday (Jan. 27) from 5 until 6:00 pm at the Clover Street Church of Christ.

Memorial services will follow at 6:00 pm with Pastor Terry Turner officiating.

Paul Randall Maynard
Age: 68
Visitation: Visitation will be in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel after 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral Service: Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with Travis Maynard and Kimberly McPeek officiating.
Interment: Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Shelbiana, Kentucky.

Paul Randall Maynard, age 68 of Pikeville, Kentucky passed away, Saturday, August 22, 2015 at his home.

He was a Retired Kentucky State Police Lieutenant and a veteran of the United States Army Reserves.

Lt. Maynard was born in Pikeville, Kentucky on October 25, 1946 the son of the late Orville and Jetta Ann Jenkins Maynard.

On August 31, 1985 he married his beloved Molly Maria Stidham Maynard.

He is survived by two children, Travis J. Maynard of Tallahassee, Florida and Kimberly Ann (Keith) McPeek of Dorton, Ky.

He is also survived by two grandchildren, Kolby Keith (Skyler) McPeek and Kerrigan Ann McPeek and two great-grandchildren, Scarlett Klaire McPeek and Audrey Skye McPeek.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made in his memory to Trooper Island, P.O. Box 473, Albany, Ky. 42602

Nancy (Huff) Howard
Born: Fri., Mar. 22, 2013
Died: Mon., Jan. 13, 2014

On January 13, 2014 Nancy Huff Howard of Harlan, Kentucky went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was the wife of the Late Henry Kay Huff and the Late William Howard. Nancy was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking.

Along with her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents Manzo Surgener and Martha Surgener Stewart; Brothers: Columbus, John, James and Henry Surgener; and Granddaughter: Penny Huff.

Surviving are sons: Williard Huff of Bledsoe, Tommy (Lessie) Huff of London, and Rod (Debbie) Huff of Bledsoe; Grandsons: Jeffrey (Robyn) Huff, Scott (Christy) Huff, and Miles Huff; Great Granddaughters: Holly and Harley Huff; one Brother Clarence Surgener of Cawood; one Sister Hazel Couch of Bledsoe; as well as several nieces, nephews, friends and Church Family will mourn her passing.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, KY.

Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Kermit Creech Officiating.

Interment will be conducted, Thursday, January 16 at 1:00 PM in the Huff Cemetery In Napier, KY. Rod Huff, Tommy Huff, Scott Huff, Jeff Huff, Miles Huff and Willard Huff will serve as Pallbearers.
