GROSS

Donna Sue Gross, 41, of Pathfork passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, at her residence. Born September 28, 1971 in Dayton, OH, she was a homemaker and believed in the Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Gross and Freda Howard Gross; and her son, Cody Tyler “Cody Bug” Skidmore.

Donna is survived by her fiancé, Ricky Daniels, Pathfork; one daughter, Natasha Farley, Evarts; two brothers, Mark Gross, Coldiron and Scott Allen; two half brothers, Rex Gross, Harlan and Jimmy Gross, Wallins; four sisters, Debbie Henderson and husband Matt, Hulen; Colleen Bass, Florida; Cindy Alfery, Mount Sterling, KY and Louise Howard; and one step-sister, Kathy Gross.

She also left behind a very special friend, Hobert Daniels, Pathfork and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Saylor Cemetery, Pathfork.

Loyall Funeral Home was in charge of her arrangements.

CRESS

Brandon Lee Cress, 26, of Loyall, was born September 26, 1986 and passed from this life on July 5, 2013. He was a loving husband and a loving father of three children. He believed in the Church of God faith. Brandon loved fishing and spending time with his wife, children and family.

He is preceded in death by one son, Travis Lee Cress; grandparents, Denver and Irene Cress; Stella Turner; two aunts, Charlotte Morris and Bobbie Jean Short; an uncle, Tom Fields; and a cousin, Billy Wayne Cress.

Survivors include his loving wife and best friend, Jennifer Cress; three children, John Issac Pace, Brian Dewayne Cress and Emily Leann Cress, all of Loyall; his parents, Verlin and Connie Cress; a sister, Melissa Cress (Hubert Lear); a brother, Anthony “Chuck” Cress (Amanda Eldridge); and four nieces. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and in-laws.

Visitation will be from 5 – 9 pm Tuesday evening and from 10 am until 1 pm Wednesday at Harlan Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Carter officiating.

Burial will follow at Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family welcomes donations to be made to the Harlan Funeral Home to help with expenses.

Harlan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

GOODIN

Ruth Alice Goodin, age 59, of Smith, KY passed away June 30, 2013 at the Harlan ARH following a long illness. She was born June 12, 1954 in Harlan, KY to the late Eugene Engle and Aline Clark Brannon. She believed in the Pentecostal Holiness Faith.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Mac “Ott” Burkhart and sister, Barb Sizemore, her mother and father in law, Edith and Charles Goodin, and her nephew, Clayvis Kelly.

Left to mourn her passing is her loving husband of 40 years, Gary Wayne Goodin, of Smith, KY, her children: Sabrina Day and husband, Kenny, of Smith, KY, Shannon Pruitt and husband, Jonathan, of Smith, KY, Johnny Goodin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Jennifer Bruce and husband, Daniel, of Harlan, KY, Tammy Goodin and husband, Wayne, of Smith, Nicki Jones and husband, Jon, of Totz, KY, Kim Dillman and husband, Kyle, of Upper Elcomb, KY, brothers: Tom Brannon and wife, Trish, of Chatsworth, Georgia, Bill Engle and wife, Wilma, of Elcomb, KY, sisters Ann Spurlock and husband, Junior; Deb Curry and husband, Terry. Special nephews: James Kelly and Joe Sizemore, 16 grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Spencer Burkhart Pentecostal Holiness Church, Smith, KY from 5 to 9PM. Funeral will be Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 2PM at the church with Spencer Burkhart officiating. Burial will be at the Vine Daniels Cemetery, Smith, KY. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Pruitt, Jon Jones, Kenny Day, Kyle Dillman, Wayne Howard, and Daniel Bruce.

Mount Pleasant Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

FELOSI

Elva Felosi, 92 of Harlan, was born on Saturday, June 4, 1921 and died on Thursday, June 27, 2013. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Felosi and a daughter, Carolyn Felosi.

She is survived by her son, Ralph and wife Carolyn Felosi of Harlan; Her grandchildren, Tony Felosi; Bridget and husband, Terry Wynn; Sue and husband, Ron Frazier; Jimmy and husband, Ted Pace; Bobby and wife, Tiffany, Slusher. Her great-grandchildren, Christopher and wife, Rebecca Felosi, Justin Felosi, Dylan Wynn and Daylon Wynn, Tyler Frazier, Cassidy Slusher, Autumn Pace, and Olivia Pace. Also surviving are her great-great-grandchildren, Dahlia Felosi and Sawyer Felosi. One sister, Georgia Mullins and a sister-in-law, Freda Felosi, also survives.

Visitation will be Sunday June 30th from 6pm to 8pm in the Chapel of Henson & Rich Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Monday July 1st at 2pm in the Chapel of Henson & Rich Funeral Home with the Reverend Arnold Martin officiating.

Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

DEBUSK

Carl Smith DeBusk, 88 of Gulston, KY passed away on Wednesday June 26, 2013 at his residence with his wife and son-in-law at his side.

Smith was born June 2, 1925 in Rose Hill, VA to the late Harve and Alice DeBusk. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and served his country during WW II.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Jean DeBusk; 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife Polly Hensley DeBusk of Gulston; his son Russell (Laura) DeBusk of Hoover, AL; a daughter, Sandy (Clark) Hatfield of Gulston; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Colby (Corky) Debusk of Gray, TN; 2 sisters, Louise Montgomery and Fredia Whitt of Rose Hill, VA; 2 sister-in-laws, Janice DeBusk of Sullivan, IN and Maude DeBusk of Rose Hill, VA; he leaves several nieces, nephews other relatives to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be Saturday June 29, 2013 from 5 until 8:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 8:00 pm in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones with Rev. Robert Keith officiating.

Gravesides services will be 1:00 pm Sunday June 30, 2013 at the DeBusk Cemetery in Rose Hill, VA.

HALCOMB

Arthur Earl Halcomb, 65, of Loyall passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the Harlan App. Reg. Hospital. He was born October 3, 1947 in Harlan County.

Art worked as a manager for several convenient stores, worked for Harlan App. Reg. Hospital for 17 years, was a charter member of the Pine Mountain Ambulance Service, the fire chief for Loyall Fire Dept. for nearly 20 years, a member of the Harlan Fire Dept., a member of the Harlan County Emergency Rescue Squad and a member of the Baxter First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Preston Halcomb and Ada Hicks Halcomb; and one brother, Ralph George (Spike) Halcomb.

Art is survived by his wife, Janice Kaye Halcomb, Loyall; two sons, Arthur Halcomb, Jr. and wife Betty, Baxter; and Preston Lee Halcomb and wife Mary, Lexington; four grandchildren, Kristen Halcomb Swanner, David-Thomas Dillon, Phillip Tayler Dillon and Jacob Arthur Halcomb; and two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Swanner and Cassidy Swanner.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of the Loyall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, in the chapel of Loyall Funeral Home with Reverend Dallas Messer and Dan Lawson officiating.

Fire Departments members will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Taylor Dillon and David-Thomas Dillon.

Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY.

Loyall Funeral Home is in charge of his arrangements.

SAYLOR

James Edward Saylor, age 67 of Tway, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at his residence. He was born May 24, 1946 to the late Isaiah and Mossie (Mosley) Saylor. James was a Veteran of the United States Army and a retired coal miner.

Survivors include his children, Jami Leigh Hensley and husband, Jeff of Calhoun, GA and their children, Stephen Tyler and Lucas Gray; and Michael Raymond Saylor and wife, Beth of Harlan, KY and their children, Riley Drew, Preslee Lauren, and Meadow Jamison; 3 sisters, Ramona Napier, Darlene Saylor, and Loretta Martin. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

To fulfill the wishes of James, burial services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel at Resthaven Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Gilbert officiating. Those who will attend are asked to meet at the cemetery prior to services. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Henson & Rich Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
