Edna Faye Moore
1945-2007

MOREHEAD - Edna Faye Moore, age 62, of Christy Creek Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, July 6, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born March 29, 1945, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Ivory Sloan Crum. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Crum, and one sister, Glessie Fultz.

She is survived by one son, Raymond (Jackie) Moore of Morehead, Kentucky; two daughters, Carolyn (George) Gyurik and Cindy (Darrell) Glover, of Morehead, Kentucky; three brothers, Danny Crose of Kingman, Indiana, Lester Crum, and Bill Crum of Muncie, Indiana; one sister, Mary McKinney of Kingman, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Robbie Moore and wife Amy, Matt Hamilton and wife Jamie, Cara Fultz and husband Chad, Brooke Hamilton, Tierra Hamilton, Ryan Moore, Khalee Gyurik, Mandy Glover, and Ryan Glover; one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Patrick-Moore; and the father of her children, Roy Moore of Morehead, Kentucky.

Mrs. Moore was a homemaker and former employee of Heck’s and Wal-Mart. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with her family.

Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. James Allen and Rev. Kenneth Hamilton officiating. Burial was in Trent Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tracy Hamilton, Matt Hamilton, Chad Fultz, Ryan Moore, Ryan Glover, and Robbie Moore.

Visitation was Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Wilma Jean Johnson Middleton
1935-2007

MOREHEAD - Wilma Jean Johnson Middleton, age 72, of Sharkey Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. She was born February 4, 1935, in Fleming County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Arlie Moses Johnson and Glada Ethel Black Johnson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Donnie Ray Johnson, and the father of her children, Earsel Ray Middleton.

Wilma is survived by two sons, Elvis Ray Middleton and wife Kim of Morehead, Kentucky, and Jackie Ennis Middleton and wife Brenda of Hillsboro, Kentucky; three daughters, Eloise Nadean Humphries and husband Nelson of Hillsboro, Kentucky, Brenda Elisha DeRossett and husband Michael and Lisa Enore Summers, of Winchester, Kentucky; two sisters, Audrey June Jamison of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and Judy Kay Adams of Morehead, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Chad Wayne Humphries, Dustin Randall Conn, Shane Ray Middleton, and Kaycie M’Lyn Middleton; and one great-grandson, Declan Rhys Humphries.

She was a homemaker and member of Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Chad Wayne Humphries, Dustin Randall Conn, Shane Ray Middleton, Scottie Jamison, David Adams, Jr., Glenn Hyatt, Herb Hyatt, Dick Ellington, and Asa Wayne Johnson.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Virginia Tonkovich

TENNESSEE - Virginia Eulene Bates Tonkovich, widow of the late Daniel Tonkovich, (formerly of Fleming County), passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007. She was the daughter of the late Ada and Garrett Bates. She is survived by son Paul Edward Dople of Jellico, Tennessee, and daughter Cathy Lee Helterbrand-Owens of Clearfield, Kentucky. One son preceded her in death, Billy Ray Dople of Chicago, Illinois. Cox and Son Funeral Home conducted a private graveside service at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2007, at the Douglas Cemetery in Jellico Tennessee. Rev. Lester Cox officiated.

William Harvey “Bill” Caudill
1934-2007

MOREHEAD - William Harvey “Bill” Caudill, age 72, of Sharkey Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 23, 2007, at the Saint Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky, after a sudden illness. Born March 2, 1934, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Davis Franklin Caudill and Leota Thornsbury Caudill. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, John Davis Caudill in 2005, and one brother, Sherman Dale Caudill.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Blair Caudill; 3 daughters, Billie Mae Caudill of Michigan, Donna Sue Carpenter and Linda Brown both of Taylor, Michigan; 1 brother, Curt Caudill of Morehead, Kentucky; 4 sisters, Frances Summers of Riverview, Michigan, Ada Cooper of Hillsboro, Kentucky, Ruby Johnson of Wellston, Ohio, and Regina Stevens of Morehead, Kentucky; and 7 grandchildren.

Mr. Caudill was a retired crane operator at a steel mill in Michigan and a retired minister. He was an avid gardener and fisherman.

Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Deward Hall and Elder Irvin L. Hogge officiating; burial was in New Alfrey Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Bruce Davis, Larry Benton, John Blair, Bobby Joe Blair, Wesley Caudill, Allen Cogar and James Fannin. Visitation was Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Carra Bruce Higgins
1910 – 2007

MOREHEAD – Carra Bruce Higgins, 96, of Louisville, Kentucky formerly of Morehead passed away Thursday, February 22, 2007 in Hillcreek Manor in Louisville.

She was born on July 30, 1910 in Rowan County, Kentucky to the late George W. and Una Hamilton Bruce.

Mrs. Higgins was a retired schoolteacher having taught in the Rowan County and Boone County school systems for over 50 years. She was a graduate of Morehead Teachers College and was a member of the Morehead First Christian Church, Rowan County Retired Teachers, Morehead Women’s Club and St. Claire Regional Medical Center Women’s Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis T. Higgins who passed away on September 12, 2000, one daughter, Betsy Higgins Travis, six brothers, Curt Bruce, Clyde Bruce, Clell Bruce, Clester Bruce, Cliff Tussey and Claude Tussey and two sisters, Clara Bruce and Chloe Redman.

Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Higgins of Louisville, four granddaughters, Beth Fultz and her husband, Donnie, Kristi Greer, Lynn Travis and Suzanne Harwood, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 24, 2007 in the Brown Cemetery with Rev. Ben Furman officiating.

Pallbearers were Donnie Fultz, Paul Fultz, Zach Bruce, Mike Funk, Mike Watts and Alan Watson.

Roger D. Brown

Roger D. Brown, age 41, of Elliott County, son of Darlene Winkleman Brown of Elliott County and the late Tommy Brown, passed away Thursday morning at his residence.

Mr. Brown was employed by the Elliott County Board of Education.

Charlotte Gregory Donahue
1939-2009

MOREHEAD – Charlotte Gregory Donahue, age 70, of Dry Creek Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009, at her residence.

Born June 3, 1939, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Corbett and Gladys Brown Gregory. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nettie Adkins and Dorothy Law, and two brothers, Elvia Gregory and her twin, Charles Gregory.

Charlotte is survived by her husband of 51 years, Winford Donahue; one daughter, Elaine Littleton and husband Rick of Clearfield, Kentucky; one grandson, Jason Littleton and his wife Kristen; two great grandsons, Tanner Mason and Bennett Littleton; and several nieces and nephews.

Charlotte retired from Imperial Cleaners where she worked for 15 years. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and spending time with her family. Charlotte’s dog Lily was also special to her.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Carlos Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jason Littleton, Rick Littleton, Tanner Mason, Larry Law, David Phillips, Richard Phillips, Audrey Staton, and Roger Mason.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Wagoner and Wayne Stevens.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Phyllis J. Flanery

Phyllis J. Flanery, 72, of Tunnel Hill, passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

She retired from the Whitfield County School System. She was a graduate of Morehead State University and taught at Elliottville Elementary School.

Survivors include her husband, Denver Flanery of Tunnel Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Mark Opasinski of the US Navy; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Florita Flanery of Dalton, and Patrick and Hetty Flanery of the U.S. Marine Corps; grandchildren, Stephanie Jane, Della Jean, and Kyung Joon Otis Flanery. A memorial service was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home. Messages of comfort may be sent and the guest register signed at www.julianpeeples.com. Julian Peeples Funeral Home, Pleasant Grove Chapel, Dalton was in charge of funeral arrangements. For more information, call (706) 259-7455.
