Larry Hoskins
1943-2008

WEST LIBERTY - Larry Richard Hoskins of White Oak, KY, passed away Monday, January 7, 2008, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, KY, at the age of 64 years, 7 months, and 1 days. He was born on Sunday, June 6, 1943, a son of the late Hobart and Lenora Gregory Hoskins.

He was united in marriage to Carole Jean Allen. To this union were born two sons, Jason and Cory. He was a retired Vocational Rehabilitation Administrator for the State of Kentucky. He was a member of the White Oak Christian Church where he served as Deacon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Hoskins; one brother, Chuck Hoskins; and one sister, Maxine Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Carole Jean Hoskins; two sons, Jason and Melissa Conley Hoskins of West Liberty and Cory Hoskins of West Liberty, KY; three grandchildren, John Tyler Hoskins, Preston David Hoskins, and Madison Alexandra Hoskins; one half brother, Frank Phillips, Jr. of Shelby, OH; one brother-in-law, Freddie Jones of IN; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service 1 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2008 at the White Oak Christian Church with Rev. officiating. Burial in the Allen Cemetery, White Oak. Visitation at 5 p.m., Thursday at the Potter Funeral Home.

Pallbearers: Tony Perry, Jack Cline, Danny Allen, Steve Measel, Jody Mayse, Scott Johnston, Frank Phillip, Jr., Walter Henry, Ronnie Mayse, David Nutter, and Charlie Crigger.

Honorary Pallbearers: All his family and friends.

Memorials are suggested by the family to: White Oak Christian Church or St. Claire Foundation Oncology Department.

Pauline Redwine Johnson
1920-2008

MOREHEAD - Pauline Redwine Johnson, 87, of Morehead died peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at home after a long illness. Born March 15, 1920 in Clearmont County, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Lowel and Effie Johnson Redwine. A longstanding member of Morehead First Church of God where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a retired educator, starting her career in 1939 in a rural school in Elliott County. She taught school for 10 years at Haldeman and then 21 years at Fern Creek High School, Fern Creek, Kentucky.

She was the devoted wife to her husband of 67 years, Clester Ovel Johnson. Survivors include a son, James Ovel Johnson and his wife, Betty Anderson Johnson; grandsons Jeffrey Ovel Johnson and his wife Shannon Doud Johnson; James Leland Johnson and his wife Heather Houston Johnson; granddaughter Julia Johnson Segars and her husband John Henry Segars, junior. Great grandchildren Jacob Lyddon Johnson, Grace Anderson Johnson, Isabelle Bailey Johnson, Ellison Anne Johnson, Emma Grace Johnson, John Anderson Segars, Sam Henry Johnson, and Anna Marina Segars.

She is also survived by a brother Sam Redwine and two sisters, Emogene Barbour and Joy Garifalon and her husband, Paul and sister-in-law, Emma Hutchinson of Morehead.

Visitation is at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the Northcutt and Son Home of Funerals in Morehead.

A 2 p.m. service will be followed by private family services at the gravesite.

Georgia Ann Bair Staton
1917-2008

MOREHEAD - Georgia Ann Bair Staton, age 90, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 7, 2008, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

She was born February 21, 1917, in Leadingham, Kentucky, to the late Jackson Berlin Bair and Susan Rebecca Lemasters Bair. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Virgil Bair; one sister, Zada Johnson; one son, Elzie Joe Staton in 1937; one daughter, Alice Lucille Staton Daily in 2003; and four grandchildren: David, Wayne, and Kimberly Perry and Vicki Davis.

Her husband of 38 years, Paul Staton, whom she married in 1932, preceded her in death in January, 1970.

Survivors include one son, Harley Staton and wife Ann of Summerville, South Carolina; one daughter, Corene Caudill and husband Franklin of Morehead, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gary McQuain officiating. Burial will follow in the Clearfield Cemetery.

Matthew Carmen Totich
1961-2008

MOREHEAD - Matthew Carmen Totich (Lil Pope), age 46, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at his residence.

Born September 23, 1961, in Kearney, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Matthew and Frances Catena Totich. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his uncle, George Totich.

Matthew is survived by two sisters: Donna Fossett, his twin, and Laura Skaggs, both of Morehead and six nieces and nephews: Daniel Totich, Nicole Skaggs, Marrianne Skaggs, Emily Skaggs, Katie Fossett, and Matthew Fossett.

A 1980 graduate of Rowan County Senior High School, Matthew was a member of the football team. He graduated from Morehead State University in 1987, where he was a cheerleader and member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He was Catholic.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bill Buelterman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hope Center, Attention Heather Mitchell, P. O. Box 6, Lexington, KY 40588.

Virgie Hall
1921-2008

SALT LICK - Virgie Mae Hall of Kissimmee, Fla., formerly of Salt Lick passed away Friday, June 27 in Florida.

Mrs. Hall was born March 1, 1921 at Salt Lick, the daughter of the late John and Callie Blevins Ingram. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and member of the First Christian Church of Kissimmee and was the widow of the late Bruce Hall.

Survivors include her daughter Patty Mikel and husband Dennis of Kissimmee; three sisters, Alberta Pergram of Newport, Deloris Wills of Muncie, Ind. and Geneva Hunt of Greensburg, Ind.; one brother, Raymond Ingram of Georgetown, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be conducted Thursday, July 3 at 12:30 p.m. at Polksville Cemetery in Salt Lick with Rev. George Stewart officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon on Thursday at Powell Funeral Home.

Sam Price Williams
1922-2008

MOREHEAD – Sam Price Williams, 86, of Salt Lick formerly of Morehead, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.

He was born on April 6, 1922 in Richmond, Kentucky, a son of the late Charles and Ella Whitaker Williams.

Mr. Williams was retired from Columbia Gulf Transmission Company and spent his years helping people, lending a hand and a smile wherever needed. He served as a Technician Fifth Grade in the United States Army Infantry during World War II from 1942-1946. Mr. Williams was a Christian of 35 years and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Kentucky, the American Legion and a Kentucky Colonel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Opal Martin Williams after a 46-year marriage, his second wife, June Dalton Jamison after a 5-year marriage, and six siblings.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Gayle Calvert and her husband, Tom of Lexington and Sammye Sue Rice and her husband, Michael of Morehead, two grandchildren, Troy Calvert and his wife, Traci of Cleveland, Ohio and Cassie Roberts and her husband, Joe of Leitchfield, three great-grandchildren, Lauren Calvert, Caitlin Roberts and Samuel Roberts, one sister, special friend, Ginny Chappell of Port Elgin, Ontario, Canada and many long-time friends and fellow campers at the Outpost Campground in Salt Lick.

A memorial service will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Sunday, July 6, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. H. G. Pratt officiating. Full military rites will be conducted at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home by the Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. A special remembrance celebration will follow at the Outpost Campground.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Grand Masonic Lodge of Kentucky or the American Legion.

Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is caring for all arrangements.

Joyce Marie Albright
1931 - 2008

GRAYSON - Joyce Marie Albright, 77, of Grayson, KY, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 17th, at Community Care Hospice Center, in Ashland.

She was born February 5th, 1931 in Olive Hill, Carter County, KY, daughter of the late William Riley and Nellie King Jessee. In addition, she was preceded in death by one sister, Letha Nolan, and two brothers, Archie Jessee and William Riley Jessee, Jr.

Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a member of Hopewell Holiness Mission.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles W. Albright; three sons, Ricky Albright, of Grayson, KY, Charles W. (Yetive) Albright, Jr., of Corbin, KY, and Gary (DeeAnna) Albright, of Grayson, KY; two daughters, Vickie (Wendell) Brooks, of Mt. Sterling, KY, and Jennifer (Rex) Clark, of Morehead, KY; a special niece, Alyce Hammond, of Olive Hill, KY; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 19th, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at Sparks Funeral Home, in Grayson, KY; followed by funeral services at 6:00 pm, at the funeral home, with Randy Binion, Minister. Burial will follow in the Watson Cemetery, Olive Hill, KY.

Helen Jean Triplett Calhoun
1925 - 2008

GRAYSON - Helen Jean Triplett Calhoun, 82, Lexington, Kentucky, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 17th, 2008.

Helen was born August 25, 1925 in Carter County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Charles and Carrie Houck Triplett.

A lifelong Christian, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morehead, Kentucky, where she resided most of her life. She will be remembered for her many good deeds. One of the original “Super Moms”, she used her amazing organizational skills both in her work as a business manager at various companies, as well as maintaining a lovely home, and being an attentive mother.

Helen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bill Calhoun, Lexington; a son, Charles “Larry” Calhoun, Lexington; daughters, Susan Calhoun, Lexington, and Becky (Rodney) Trimble, Georgetown; grandsons, Adam Dickison, Ashland, Ryan Trimble and Jeremy Trimble, both of Georgetown; sisters, Betty (Billy G.) Wellman, Ashland and Muriel (Bill) Farrissey, Sanford, North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Leone (Howard) James, Bedford Park, Illinois, Hazel (Max) Calhoun, Grayson, Norma (Chan) Calhoun, South Shore, Opal (Lawrence) Calhoun, Grayson, Jean (Webb) Young, Ashland, Joy (Harold) Nolan, Grayson, Dolores (Glen) Calhoun, Dayton, Ohio, and Helen (W. W.) Triplett, Monaca, Pennsylvania; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Pat Beaty.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four beloved brothers, Dennis (Nancy), Charles, Jr. (Mary Alice), W. W. “Bill”, and Elijah (Peggy) Triplett, and two sisters, Eloise (Thornton) Crawford and Burnetta (Nick) Tolar.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Sunday, June 22nd, at Sparks Funeral Home, Grayson, Kentucky. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, on Monday, June 23rd, at the funeral home, Rev. Don Mantooth, Minister. Burial will be in Grayson Memorial Park, Grayson, Kentucky.
