Roland T. Varney, 86 of Hardy, Ky. passed away Monday, March 8, 2010 at his residence.
He was born October 22, 1923 in Pike County, Ky. the son of the late Lewis and Vada Blackburn Varney. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ida Murphy Varney, son, Ronnie T. Varney, granddaughter, Danielle Lynn Childers, brothers, Benny, Willie and Tommy Varney and sisters, Verda Bostic, Vicy Maynard, Gertie Blackburn.
He was a retired coal miner from Eastern Coal Corp., a member of the UMWA, he was a US Army Veteran in World War II and a member of the Old Pond Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Danny J. Varney of Canada, Ky.; one brother, James Lewis (Sharon) Varney of Meriden, CT; two sisters, Marie Justice of Toler, Ky. and Ruby Blackburn of Metter, GA; two grandchildren, Krystal Francis (Timothy) Campbell of Pikeville, Ky. and Chadwick (Regina) May of Canada, Ky.; three great grandchildren, Emily Jean May, Hunter Dalton May and Lyndsey Nicole Childers and special friends; Judy and Eddie Martin and Jake Staton and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday, March 12, 2010 at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Elswick, Raymond Stanley and Jeff Dotson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with Belfry Chapter #141 DAV conducting Military Graveside rites. Pallbearers will be family and friends and Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Martin, Jake Staton and Charles "Fuzzy" Keesee. Visitation will be held after 6 PM Wednesday and Thursday at the Funeral Home Chapel with special services both nights at 7 PM.

Steven Russell Ward, 43 of Raleigh, N.C. formerly of Williamson, WV passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Rex Hospital, Raleigh, N.C.
He was born May 29, 1966 in Williamson, WV the son of Bonnie Rose Francis Ward of Williamson, WV and the late William Russell Ward. He was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Steven William Ward.
Steven was a Maintenance Technician for Drucker & Faulk Corp. and a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church.
Besides his Mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Victoria Lynn Marcum Ward of Raleigh, N.C.; two very special cousins, Brian (Michelle) Lowe and Mitchell (Amanda) Lowe all of Sidney, Ky.; neice and nephew, Terri and Jesse Anderson of Raleigh, N.C; great neice and nephew, Hailey and Hunter Anderson of Raleigh, N.C. and a host of other family and friends and very special friends from Raleigh, N.C.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, March 5, 2010 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Lowe Family Cemetery, Sidney, Ky. with Mitchell Lowe, Brian Lowe, Frank Altice, Avery Marcum, Dewey Marcum and Chris Marcum serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 PM Wednesday and Thursday at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with special services both nights at 7 P.M. R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry is in charge of arrangements.

Alisha Mae Mollette, infant daughter of Ryan Lee Mollette and Chasity Nicole Thacker of Stone, Ky. was stillborn Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the Pikeville Medical Center.
Besides her parents she is survived by her grandparents, Lisa Hall, Elster Hall, Sylvia Mollette and Mickey Mollette.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at the Hensley Cemetery, Stone, Ky. with Gerria Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Hensley Cemetery.

Mustapha M. Nasser, 47, of Delbarton, West Virginia, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010 in the Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, West Virginia, due to injuries substained in an Auto accident, March 28, 2010.
Mustapha was born June 24, 1962 in Beirut, Lebanon the son of the late Mohsen and Amal Nasser.
He was a Corpral at the Southwest Regional Jail at Holden, WV for 13 years and he was of the Muslim Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Debra M. Nasser; step daughter, Rebecca Loughry and step son, Justin A. Dean; brothers, Ibrahim M. Nasser of Chula Vista, California, Kassem Nasser of Beirut, Lebanon and Mohammed Nasser of San Diego, California; two sisters, Baria Nasser and Fatima Nasser both of Beirut, Lebanon; two step grandchildren, Jalen Loughry and Emma Loughry and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will mourn his passing.
Visitation will be held from 3 P.M. till 9 P.M. Wednesday April 14, 2010 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Ky. with a Memorial Service at 7 P.M. with Father Nick England officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date.

Mary Moneka Whitt, 65, of Forest Hills, Kentucky, passed away, Thursday, April 15, 2010 in the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Kentucky.
Born September 4, 1944 at Varney, West Virginia a daughter of the late Willard and Nellie (Tinsley) Musick. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Musick.
Mary was a homemaker and member of the Williamson Area Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold (Bron) Whitt; one son, David Anthony (Carla) Whitt of Pikeville, Ky.; one daughter, Joni Marie (Tim) Hatfield of Turkey Creek, Kentucky; Three sisters, Naomi Glaspy of Tennessee, Ida Jackson of West Virginia and Katherine (Bob) Sorley of Tennessee; four brothers, Sid (June) Musick of Tennessee, Dallas (Betty) Musick of Tennessee, David (Darlene) Musick of Georgia and Donnie (Colletta) Musick of Ohio; two grandchildren, Haley and Carson Hatfield and a host of loving friends.
Funeral Services will be held 12 Noon Monday at the Williamson Area Church of Christ with Elder Cliff Hatcher officiating. Visitation will be from 11 A.M. until time of the funeral, with burial to follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Kentucky with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Wanda Gayle May, 63, of Canada, Kentucky, died Friday, April 16, 2010 in the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Kentucky.
Born March 6, 1947 at McVeigh, Kentlucky, a daughter of the late Ersel Williamson and Maudie Wlliamson Smith. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian Ault and one brother, Larry Kent Smith.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Lonesome Dove Old Regular Baptist Church.
Wanda is survived by her step-father, Raymond Smith of Canada, Kentucky; one son, Thomas Christopher Smith of Turkey Creek, Kentucky; one daughter, Tanya Hatfield of Hardy, Kentucky; one brother, Clarence "Bud" Smith of Canada, Kentucky; seven sisters, Margaret Thacker of Wingo, Kentucky, Bonnie Bonbrake of Pinsonfork, Kentucky, Roberta "Bertie" Coleman of Canada, Kentucky, Kaye Maynard of Pikeville, Kentucky, Madonna McKinney of Canada, Kentucky, Freda Stanley of Columbia, Kentucky And Rhonda Johnson of Meta, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Tyler Hatfield, Paul David Mounts, Matthew Smith and Sammy Smith and a host of loving friends.
Funeral Services will be held 1 P.M. Monday, April 19, 2010 at the Lonesome Dove Old Regular Baptist Church with Raymond Smith, Gabe Lowe, Billy Cochran and other Regular Baptist Ministers officiating.
Burial will follow in the Stanley Cemetery, Canada, Kentucky, with Chris Smith, Keith Hatfield, Larry Coleman, Clarence Bud Smith, Brice Hatfield, Jackie Hatfield, and grandsons, Tyler Hatfield and Paul David Mounts serving as Pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 P.M. Saturday and Sunday Evening at R. E Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Kentucky, with special services both nights at 7 P.M.

Bridith Dean Phillips Jr., 49 of Stone, Ky. passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at his residence.
He was born February 14, 1961 in Williamson, WV the son of the late Bridith and Molly Geraldine Hallet Phillips. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Mark Allen Phillips.
He was a disabled construction worker.
Survivors include one sister, Billie Sue Phillips of Richmond, Ky. and one brother, John Riley Phillips of Burlington, Ky. and a host of friends.
Memorial services will be held at 7 PM Saturday, May 1, 2010 a the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with James Justice officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 PM till 9 PM Saturday.

Arvel Elmer "Elmo" Vermillion, 80 of South Williamson, Ky. passed away Friday, April 30, 2010 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV.
He was born May 17, 1929 at Nolan, WV the son of the late Sherman and Nettie Hargis Vermillion. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ruth Vermillion, one daughter, Judith Ann Vermillion and two sons, Ronnie and Curtis Vermillion.
Elmo was a retired coal miner, member of the UMWA and attended the Toler Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children. Deborah Lynn Vermillion of Hamilton, Ohio, Sharon Kay Caverlee of Greenville, Ohio, Lisa Gail Shank of Panama City, Fl., Steven Ray Vermillion of Dayton, Ohio, Darlene Vermillion of South Williamson, KY, Carolyn Vermillion, Darrell Vermillion and Larry Vermillion; two sisters, Pauline Browning of Williamson, WV and Doris Towles of Ypsilanti, Michigan; two brothers, Ernest Vermillion of Williamson, WV and Hubert Vermillion of Georgetown, Ky.; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Monday, May 3, 2010 at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Donnie Williamson and Lonnie Francis officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 PM Saturday and Sunday at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with special services Sunday night at 7 PM.

Rhonda Sue Caudill, 43, of Ransom, KY, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday May 1, 2010 at her residence. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother of four beautiful grandchildren.
Rhonda was born on March 26, 1967 in Williamson, WV She was the daughter of Betty Wolford of McCarr, Ky. and the late Ronald Wolford. She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Glenn Caudill. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her husband; Allen Caudill Jr. of Ransom, KY, a daughter; Heather M. (Johnny) Jude of South Williamson, KY, four grandchildren; Shyla Michelle, Rebecca May, Johnny Caleb and Lilly Ann Jude, mother; Betty Ruth Wolford of McCarr, KY, sister; Kathy Jean (Eugene) Phillips of Ransom, KY, brothers; Ronald Scott (Donna) Wolford of South Williamson, KY, Mark Edward Wolford and Angela West and David Paul (Melanie) Wolford of Stone, KY, sister-in-laws; Janice Faye (Lawrence) Collins and Carolyn Caudill all of Lynn, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday May 6, 2010 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Terry Joe Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow at Alley Cemetery, McCarr, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be after 6 P.M. Tuesday and Wednesday at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with special services both nights at 7 P.M.

Janet Fay Garrison, 70 of Belfry, Ky. passed away Monday night, May 3, 2010 at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Ky.
She was born October 22, 1939 in Pike County, Ky. the daughter of the late Rhoda Hunt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Garrison, son, Leroy Garrison III and daughter, Ellen Garrison.
Janet was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy (Delton) Lipscomb of Lawrenceburg, Tn.; three grandchildren, Ashley, Mahaley and Courtney Lipscomb all of Lawrenceburg, Tn.; a special friend, Billie Rolen of Belfry, Ky. and a host of cousins.
Entombment will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Mountain View Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Huddy, Ky.

Ida Pearl Coleman, 73 of Thomasville, NC formerly of Ransom, Ky. passed away Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Thomasville Medical Center.
She was born June 18, 1936 in Pike County, Ky. the daughter of the late Rev. Kit Carson Ratliff and Thelma Mae Dotson Ratliff. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Moses Wayne Coleman, sisters, Billie Mounts, Bobbie Gillman, Margaret Williams and Anna Hodge and brother, George Ratliff.
She was the owner and operator of the former LynnMar Motel, a 1956 Graduate of Belfry High School and a member of the Samaria Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa (Clifford) Sullivan of Thomasville, NC and Teresa (George Randall) Jackson of High Point, NC; one brother, Will Drainen (Nancy) Ratliff and one sister, Jackie (John) Coleman both of Kimper, Ky.; three grandchildren, Mark Sullivan, Sabrina Nichols and Shawn Jackson and one great grandchild, Kason Spann.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Samaria Primitive Baptist Church with Paul Varney, Shawn Dotson and Jeff Dotson officiating. Visitation will be held after 3 PM Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Samaria Primitive Baptist Church with special services Wednesday night at 7 PM with Paul Varney and Thursday night at 7 PM with Mike Smith. Burial will follow in the Dotson Cemetery, Ransom, Ky.

Howard Lee Davis, 85 of New Philadelphia, Ohio passed away Tuesday May 4, 2010 at Hennis Nursing Home in Dover, Ohio. He was born February 14, 1925 in Mingo County, W. Va. a son of the late William L. and Maggie Mae Allen Davis. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Susan Dalton. He was a retired boss at N & S Railroad and a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served at Pearl Harbor.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Faye Bryant Davis; one daughter; Marla Jane Aisenbrey of North Carolina, two sisters; Ruth (Burl) Blackburn of Hurricane, W.Va. and Marie Mason of Williamsburg, Va. one brother; Cecil (Jean) Davis of Statesville, N.C. three grandchildren; Ella (Matt) Mellito of Siera Vista, Az. Brooks Dalton of Tampa, Fl. and Lisa Towery of Clemons, N.C. and one great grandchild; Aiden Matthew Mellito.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 11 AM at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. B. R. Kincaid officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher, WV. with Belfry Chapter #141 D.A.V. conducting military graveside services. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 PM Friday, May 7 at the Funeral Home Chapel.
