Robert Joe Blackburn 75, of Sevierville, TN formerly of Toler, KY passed away Friday December 24, 2010 at LeConte Medical Center of Sevierville, TN.
Born November 24, 1935 in Pike County, Kentucky, a son of the late John and Sylvann Blackburn.
He was a retired Coal Miner and Truck Driver. Robert was of the Freewill Baptist Faith.
He is survived by two sons, David (JoAnna) Blackburn of Sevierville, Tn. and Terry Joe (Lena) Blackburn of Hardy, Kentucky; two sisters Bobbi Sue Blackburn of Sevierville, Tennessee and Tammy Blackburn ; two brothers, James "Buddy" (Sarah) Blackburn of Hellier, Kentucky and Junior (Helma) Blackburn of Lawton, Oklahoma; two sisters, Nocha (Elbert) Steele of Dandridge, Tennessee and Alice (Grover) Smith of Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren, three Great Grandchildren and a host of loving friends.
Funeral Services will be held 1 P.M. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home with Greg Whitetree officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Kentucky, with Aarron Robert, Terry James, John Wesley and family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Sunday and Monday with special services both nights at 7 P.M.

Elmer Cleveland Plummer, 34, of Huddy, KY, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington, WV.
He was born July 26, 1976 at South Williamson, Ky. the son of Shirley Hensley Plummer Stanley and step father, James Stanley of Huddy, Ky. and the late Estil Plummer. He was also preceded in death two sisters, Christie Plummer and Janie Carol Hensley and grandparents, Elmer Hensley, Tilda Rose and John Filter Plummer.
He was a graduate of Belfry High School and a member of the McVeigh United Baptist Church.
Other survivors include his brother, Estil Plummer Jr. of Huddy, Ky.; sisters, Shirley Jane Williams of Ransom, Ky. and Marlena K. Plummer of Huddy, KY, grandmother, Hattie Hensley of Huddy, Ky.; nieces, Shyla and Hattie Bush; nephews, Walker Plummer and Billy Williams; Uncle, Larry (Judy) Hensley of McVeigh, Ky. and cousins, Judy Scott, Larry A. Hensley and Ariel Scott.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the McVeigh United Baptist Church with Orbie Justice officiating. Burial will follow in the Coeburn Point Cemetery, Huddy, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 PM Tuesday and Wednesday at the McVeigh United Baptist Church with special services both nights at 7 PM.

Charles Ray Chapman, 77, of Turkey Creek, KY, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Ky. after a 6 year battle with lung cancer.
He was born November 19, 1933 at Stone, Ky. the son of the late Frank and Ruth Williamson Chapman. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Kelly Chapman and a sister, Peggy Bow Thompson.
Charles was a retired welder, a veteran of the United States Army and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors includes the love of his life for 55 years, his wife, Ruby Sellards Chapman of Turkey Creek, Ky.; five children, James Chapman, JoAnn (Bobby) Miller, Janet (Mike) Barker, Cindy (Jack) Hampton and Kelly Ray Chapman all of Columbus, Ohio; four granddaughters, Angela (Dave) Detrow, Brittni (Josh) Walters, Christie Hampton and Dannelle Miller; eight grandsons, Tony (Stephanie) Hampton, Michael (Amanda) Hampton, Jimmy Chapman, Danny Hampton, Joey Chapman, Jack Hampton Jr., Cody Hampton and Michael Barker Jr.; great grandchildren, Angelina Hampton, Destini Hampton, Trenton Hampton, Calib Hampton, Quintyn Hampton and Darren Chapman; two brothers, Donnie (Hong) Chapman of North Carolina and Eddie (Bonnie) Chapman of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Liz (John) Ivan of Columbus, Ohio and Gay Thacker of California and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 31, 2010 at 1 PM with the Rev. Rick Hisle at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with Belfry Chapter #141 DAV conducting Military Graveside Services. Grandsons and other family will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 3 PM till 9 PM Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home.

Hazel Rebecca Smith, 88 of South Williamson, KY, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born September 21, 1922 at Williamson, WV the daughter of the late James and Allie Clark Morris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lat Smith and three brothers, Joseph, Bert and Everette Morris.
She was a former employee of Cox"s Department Store and Magic Mart and a member of the First Baptist Church of Williamson.
Survivors include her son, Lat (Debra) Smith of Turkey Creek, Ky.; sister, Pansy Thompson of Rio Grande, Ohio; two grandchildren, Kimberly (Bradley) Dunkelberg of Warren, Mi. and Timothy Scott (April) Smith of Pocomoke, Md.; six great grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Dunkelberg, Noah, Zachery, Isaac and Aiden Smith and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 1, 2011 at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Ed May officiating. Burial will follow in the Reed Family Cemetery, Turkey Creek, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 PM Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Funeral Home Chapel.

Jacqueline Akers, 56 of Hatfield, KY, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born January 15, 1954 in Williamson, WV the daughter of the late Stanley Jack Briggs and Mary Naomi Hatfield Briggs. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Daniel Briggs and two sisters, Abigail Prater and Dorothy Blankenship.
Survivors include her husband, Ermel Lee Akers of Hatfield, Ky.; one son, David Lendell (Gina) Francisco of Pikeville, Ky.; one daughter, Mary Naomi Ortega of Pikeville, Ky.; three brothers, Thomas Edward (Beatrice) Briggs of Tn., Jerry Lee (Joy) Briggs of Phelps, Ky. and Raymond Morriss Briggs of Phelps, Ky. and one grandson, Gavin Lucas Francisco.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 2, 2011 at 1 PM at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Richard McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinson Cemetery, Rockhouse Fork, Sidney, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 PM Friday and Saturday at the Funeral Home Chapel with special services both nights at 7 PM.

Freddie Smith, 83 of McCarr, Ky. passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 at her residence.
She was born May 23, 1927 at McVeigh, Ky. the daughter of the late Francis M. and Melda Runyon Hatfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Langley Smith; brother, Hugh C. Hatfield and sisters, Jane H. Smith, Martha Smith, Betty Sue Farley and Emma Lee Anderson.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Samaria Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Peggy (Duke) Blackburn of McCarr, Ky.; son, Tommy M. Smith of Pikeville, Ky.; sisters, Kate Keesee of Virginia Beach, Va. and Cordia (Ralph) Swafford of Logan, WV; grandsons, Greg (Nickie) Blackburn, Mark D. Blackburn and Tommy Dale Smith; granddaughter, Shannon (Adam) Shelley; great grandson, Matthew Langley Blackburn and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 2, 2011 at 10:30 AM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Dotson and other Primitive Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery, McCarr, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation after 4 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home Chapel.

Sidney Ervin May, 79, of Cincinnati passed away December 29, 2010, loving husband of Katharine Hatfield May.
He was born March 8, 1931 in Pike County, Kentucky a son of the late Sidney and Ethel "Hazy" (Phillips) May and one brother, Darrell D. May.
Sidney, served his country with the U.S.Army during the Korean War and was a retiree of the Proctor and Gamble Company.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Timothy Lee (Elaine) May of Lebanon, Ohio and Neal Allen May (Rob Klaben) of Bellbrook, Ohio; grandchild, Tricia Kelley (Brad) and great grandchild, Ava.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 12:00 P.M. at the Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church with Emery Varney officiating. Burial will follow in the Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. DAV Services will be held by the Belfry Disabled American Veterans Chapter #141. Donations may be made to the VA Medical Center, Attn: Voluntary Service, in Memory of Sidney E. May, 3200 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio

Homer Lee Slone, 79 of Black Gem, Ky. passed away Monday, January 17, 2011 at the Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born August 11, 1931 in Pike County, Ky. the son of the late Willard and Sadie Hunt Slone. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Slone, one daughter, Cheryl Slone Fields and one sister, Owedia McCoy.
Homer was a truck driver for Hogans Transfer and a veteran of the United State Air Force.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Jason (Tonya) Fields of Hardy, Ky. and Jessica Steele of Louisville, Ky.; great grandson, Brian Fields of Hardy, Ky.; one brother, Hearl Gene (JoAnn) Slone of Williamson, WV; nephew, Gregory Slone and niece, Lisa Slone Fields and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Bostic officiating. Burial will follow in the Scott Cemetery, Black Gem, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 PM Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel.

Carrie M. (Stanley) Peake 90, of Huddy, Ky passed away Monday January 17, 2011 at her residence. She was born March 6, 1920 in McDowell County, WV the daughter of late Monsie Stanley and Minnie Susan Frith Stanley. She was also preceded in death by her husband; Ernest N. Peake and two brothers; Raymond Stanley and Monsie R. Stanley Jr. She was a homemaker, a member of Stone Chapter #533 Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Stone United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan (Peake) (Everette "Rusty") Thompson of Lexington, Ky. one son, David Brian (Debbie Woods) Peake of Hardy, Ky.; three grandchildren; Kelli (Thompson) (Dale) Krantz, Russell (April) Thompson and Melissa (Jamie) Stacy, five great grandsons; Taylor Stacy, Dalton Stacy, Dakota Stacy, Pavel Krantz and Evan Russell Thompson; one brother, Joe Stanley of Princeton, WV; her best friend for over 50 years, Juanita Waskey and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, January 20, 2011 in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Brother J. D. Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with Dale Krantz, Terry Kinser, Ronnie Kinser, William Jones, Greg King, Randall West and Jeff Hatfield serving as pallbearers. Visititation will be held after 6 PM Wednesday at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Appalachian Hospice Care PO Box 3457 Pikeville, Ky. 41502.
