Sonny Lee Hall, 75 of Pikeville, KY, passed away Tuesday February 11,
2014 at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born September 15, 1938 in Pike
County, KY, the son of the late Floyd and Ollie West Hall.
He was a retired coal miner, a member of the U.M.W.A. since 1971 and
of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife; Barbara Sue Thompson Hall of Pikeville, KY;
two sons, Gary Lee (Susan Vicky) Hall of Canada, KY, and Brian Keith
Hall of Elkhorn City, KY; daughter, Deborah Lynn (Bobby) Starr of Maher,
WV; brother, Woody Gene Hall of Bybee, TN; four grandchildren,
Nathanial Starr, Vicki Leigh Ramey, Caleb Starr and Gary Lee Hall II; three great
grandchildren, Hannah Starr, Alivia Ramey and Aubrey Starr and a host of loving family and
friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Friday February 14, 2014 at R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home with Gary Thacker officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery, Sidney,
KY, with Gary Lee Hall, Brian Keith Hall, Bobby Starr, Nathaniel Starr, Joey Ramey and Gary
Lee Hall II serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday night at the funeral home with special services at 7
PM.

Norma Jean Bevins, 72 of Williamson, WV formerly of Turkey Creek, Ky. passed away
Feb. 10, 2014.
Friends may gather at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 10 AM
and go to Davis Memorial Gardens, Stone, Ky. for a graveside service at 11 AM.

James Wallace "J.W." Young Jr. 75 of Hardy, Ky. passed away
Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital,
South Williamson, Ky. surrounded by his loving family.
J. W. was born November 26, 1938 at Meta, Ky. the son of the late
James Wallace Young Sr. and Blanche Ray Young. He was also
preceded in death by a brother, Gene Young and a sister, Aster Bond.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps having
served for 22 years and retiring as a First Sergeant. He served in the
Vietnam Conflict and was awarded three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star
with a Combat V. He was also retired from the N. & W. Railroad after more than 22 years of
service. He was a member of Stone Masonic Lodge #890 F. & A. M., a member of Belfry
Chapter #141 Disabled American Veterans and a Christian man of the Baptist Faith who loved
His God, His Family and His Country.
Survivors include his loving wife, Patricia Ann "Pat" Young of Hardy, KY; daughters,
Patricia "Patty" Young and Donna Young (Rick Carpenter) both of Hardy, KY; brother, Roger
(Dorothy) Young of Texas; sister, Patty Lipscomb of Texas; grandchildren, Preston Young,
Amanda (J. P.) Chafin, James Chapman and Jessica Ball; great grandchildren, Carson Young,
Adalyn Chafin, Bryson Chapman and Braxton Keith and a host of other loving family and
friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 17, 2014 at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Donnie Williamson and Roger Mullins officiating. Burial will
follow in the Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Huddy, KY with Preston Young, J. P. Chafin,
James Chapman and other family and friends serving as pallbearers.
There will also be Military Graveside Services.
Visitation will be held Saturday and Sunday from 6 - 9 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel with Stone Lodge # 890 F. & A. M. conducting Masonic Services Sunday night
at 6:30 PM and Church services at 7 PM with Buddy Kendrick officiating.

Kathy Jean Staggs, 56 of Ransom, Ky. passed away peacefully Sunday morning, February
16, 2014 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Kathy was born February 26, 1957 at Williamson, WV the daughter of the late James Goble
"Pete" Alley and Goldene Smith Alley. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, David
and Gary Alley.
Kathy was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ and was a member of the Belfry United Methodist Church, where she was dearly loved
by everyone.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Douglas Staggs of Ransom, KY; son, Douglas Staggs
II of Lexington, KY; daughter, Jessica Lynn (Andrew) Petrey of Pikeville, KY; sisters, Denise
Alley of McCarr, KY and Karen (Jackie) Smith of Ransom, KY and a host of other loving
family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 11 AM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the Alley
Cemetery, Ransom, Ky. with her family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 17, 2014 from 6 - 9 PM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel.

Augustine Marie Robinette, 84 of Sidney, Ky. passed away Sunday
morning, February 16, 2014 at her residence.
She was born August 27, 1929 at Sidney, Ky. the daughter of the late David
Francisco and Nancy Jane Keesee Francisco. She was also preceded in death
by her husband, Elmer Lee Robinette who died February 5, 1993; two
grandsons, Gregory Shawn Thacker and Lester Robinette and two brothers,
Lendell Kenneth Francisco and Chester Allen Francisco.
She was a former employee at Cantees Department Store and Watson's
Department Store; a member of Belfry Chapter #141 DAV Ladie's Auxillary
and a member of the Sidney Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis Thacker of Sidney, KY; brothers, Lester Eugene
Francisco and Jerry Francisco both of Sidney, KY; sister-in-law, Anna Jean Francisco of
Sidney, KY; grandsons, Bobby Vee Thacker of Hildebran, NC and Scott Thacker of Sidney,
KY; great grandchildren, Jacob Thacker of Lexington, KY, Jeremy Smith of Lincolnton, NC,
Matthew Thacker of Wilmore, KY, Natoshia Robinette of Tomahawk, KY and David Robinette
of Paintsville, KY; great great grandchildren, Daniel Allen Hall and Austin Tyler Hall; a host of
nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 12 Noon in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Shawn Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery,
Sidney, KY with Randy Francisco, Michael Paul Francisco, Dwayne Francisco, Bill Young,
Eric Robinette and Mark Postell serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be 6 - 9 PM Monday and Tuesday at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with special
services Tuesday night at 7 PM.

Preston Howard Jr. 90, of Chattaroy, WV, passed away February 19, 2014 at his residence.
He was born February 3, 1924 in Martin County, KY, the son of the late Preston Howard Sr.,
and Pearl Kirk Davis. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Howard.
He was a retired coal miner, a member of the U.M.W.A., a member of the Warfield Masonic
Lodge, a Veteran of the United State Air force and Navy, a Gambling Man and a Great Dad and
Grandfather.
He is survived by three sons, Doug Howard, Joe Howard and Paul Howard all of Chattaroy,
WV; one daughter, Carolyn Mahone of Chattaroy, WV; brothers, Earl Howard and Bobby
Howard of Chattaroy, WV; sister, Ruby Huff of Chattaroy, WV; nine grandchildren, Jeremy
Howard of Canada, KY, Robbie Howard of Chattaroy, WV, Josh Howard of Lexington, KY,
Paul Howard Jr. of Chattaroy, WV, Doug Howard Jr. of Chattaroy, WV, Samantha Howard and
Shawna Howard of Charlotte, NC, Lorrie Jo Mahone of Chattaroy, WV and Alexis Howard of
Chattaroy, WV; seven great grandchildren, Baylei Howard, Bella Howard, Canaan Howard,
Carter Howard, Levi Howard, Kaci Mahone and Madison Howard and a host of other family
and friends.
Graveside services will be Friday, February 21, 2014 at 1 PM at the Chattaroy Community
Cemetery, Chattaroy, WV.

James Howard Key, 62 of Hatfield, Ky. passed away Monday, February
24, 2014 at his home.
He was born August 30, 1951 in Charleston, WV the son of the late
John William Key, Sr. and Mary Jane Estep Key. He was also preceded in
death a son, James Howard Key II and his mother and father-in-law, Helen
Lusk Pennington and Charles Frenchie Lusk.
He was a retired office manager for Tug Valley Home Care and a
member of the Williamson Church of God Kingdom of Ministries.
Survivors include his wife, Garnet Joyce Lusk Key of Hatfield, KY; son, Charles William
(Misty) Key of Hatfield, KY; daughter-in-law, Anna Key of Matewan, WV; brothers, John W.
(Gilda) Key Jr. of Beckley, WV, Donald Ray (Sheree) Key of Beckley, WV and Samuel A.
(Diane) Key of Princeton, WV; sisters, Carletta Sue Harper of East Bank, WV, Gloria (Roger)
Frye of St. Albans, WV and Damaris Lambert of East Bank, WV; grandchildren, Destiny Key
of Belfry, KY, Daniel Marcum of Martin County, KY, Austin Key of Hatfield, KY, Haley Key
of Hatfield, KY, James Cameron Key of Matewan, WV and Alex Collins of Matewan, WV;
great granddaughter, Khloe' Marcum of Martin County, KY. and a host of other family and
friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel with Pastor Earl Coleman and Pastor Dewey Lusk officiating. Burial will follow
in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV with Randy Hensley, Chuckie Key, Daniel
Marcum, Sam Key, Alex Collins, John W. Key Jr., Austin Key and James Cameron Key
serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 28, 2014 from 6 - 8 PM at Rogers Funeral Home.
