Louise Moore Church
Louise Moore Church, age 80, of Langley, widow of Richard Church, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2002, at Our Lady of the Way Hospital, Martin.
She was born April 4, 1922, in Knott County, the daughter of the late Tommy Moore and Katie Triplett Moore. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Howard of Martin; one brother, Doc Ed Moore of Martin; one sister, Mary Alice Shropshire of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda Webb.
Funeral services for Louise Church will be conducted Friday, September 6, at 3 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Clergyman Denver Meade officiating.
Burial will follow in the Louise Webb Cemetery, at Langley, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Milford Bryant
Milford Bryant, age 66, of Teaberry, husband of Augustine Bentley Bryant, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2002, at his residence.
He was born March 8, 1936, in Floyd County, the son of the late John Wess Bryant and Draxie Hamilton Bryant. He was a retired coal miner, and a member of the Boldman Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Charlie Dean Bryant and Milford Bryant Jr., both of Teaberry; three daughters, Jackie Tackett of Honaker, Kathy Thomas of Teaberry, and April Akers of Pikeville; one brother, Sollie Bryant of Betsy Layne; two sisters, Emma Hall and Gilvia Bryant, both of Teaberry, and six grandchildren, Candice, Matthew, Cory, Allison, Sarah, and Hannah.
Funeral services for Milford Bryant will be conducted Friday, September 6, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with the clergymen, Belmont Johnson and Bill Slone, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Kelly A. Webb
Kelly A. Webb, age 83, of Jenkins, formerly of Prestonsburg, passed away, Tuesday, September 3, 2002, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital in Pikeville, after an extended illness.
He was born December 29, 1918, in Van Lear, the son of the late Willie and Bertha (Clark) Webb. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of D.A.V. Chapter No. 18 of Auxier. He was a retired coal miner, having worked at Princess Elkhorn Coal Company at David; and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie (Boling) Webb.
Other survivors include two daughters, Gwendalyn Duclos of Ambin, Ohio, Pamela Blair of Jenkins; one brother, Chester Webb of Van Lear; three sisters, Irene McKenzie of Auxier, Elsie M. Ramey of Paintsville, and Bernie Austin of Hager Hill; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 6, at 1 p.m., at the Burke Funeral Home, Prestonsburg, with Rev. Bill Campbell officiating.
Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
All arrangements are under the direction of Burke Funeral Home.

Myrtle Smith
Myrtle Smith, 77, of Stanville, died Tuesday, September 3, 2002, at her residence.
Born July 24, 1925, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Goldie Conn Lewis. She was a homemaker and a member of the Boldman Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Smith.
Survivors include four sons, William Smith of Pikeville, Donald Smith and Carl Ed Smith, both of Stanville, and Jerry L. Smith of Shelbiana; and two daughters, Phyllis Gibson of Varney, and Ruby Young of Betsy Layne; three brothers, J.C. Lewis of Stanton, Woodrow Lewis of Marion, Ohio, and Sam Lewis of Sandusky, Ohio; one sister, Lorrain Shull of Cleveland, Ohio; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 6, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with James Elkins and Willis Adkins officiating.
Burial will be in the Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Rex Meade
Rex Meade, age 77, of McDowell, husband of Bonnie Bell Meade, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2002, in the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospi-tal, McDowell.
He was born August 12, 1925, at Hi Hat, the son of the late Sam T. and Vada Gibson Meade. He was a retired carpenter, and bus driver for the Floyd County School System.
Survivors include one son, Sam Meade of Charleston, South Carolina; one daughter, Deborah Patrick of Charlotte, North Carolina; two step-sons, Randy and Kermit Bell Jr., both of McDowell; one brother, Edgar Meade of Allen Park, Michigan; two sisters, Betty Breeding of Lexington and Genevieve Stidham of Eaton, Ohio; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by one brother, Raymond Meade.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 26, at 12 noon, at the Little Rosa Regular Baptist Church, McDowell, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial was in the Meade Family Cemetery, McDowell, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation was at the church.
Pallbearers: Brent Lux-more, Gary Meade, Meredith Slone, Raymond Ward, and Terry Paige.

Angieline Howell
Angieline Howell, age 77, of Prestonsburg, passed away Monday, September 2, 2002, at Prestonsburg Health Care Center, Prestonsburg.
She was born June 1, 1925, at Prestonsburg, a daughter of the late James and Martha (Adkins) Shell.
She was married to Winford Howell who preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, and four daughters, Mitchell Howell of West Liberty; Stella Bryant, Polly Howell, Mattie Howell, and Diana Howell, all of Martin; two brothers and two sisters, Henry Shell, and Roosevelt (Buster) Shell, both of Prestonsburg; and Dorothy Baker of Somerset, and Mary Baker of Findlay, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 5, at 1 p.m., from the Burke Funeral Home, Prestonsburg, with Rev. Tommy Nelson officiating.
Burial will be in the Meade/Hackworth Cemetery, on the Left Fork of Abbott Creek, Prestonsburg.
All arrangements under the direction of Burke Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home.

Barbara A. Carter
Barbara A. Carter, 85, of Lexington, died Sunday, September 1, 2002, at Tanbark Health Care Center.
Born in Floyd County, she was a daughter of the late Schuyler Colfax and Rhoda Preston Allen.
A graduate of Morehead State University, she was a teacher for the Fayette County Public Schools at Cassidy Elementary, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, the Fayette County Homemakers, and the Fayette County Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Rice and her husband, Donald, of South Carolina, and Vicki Harmon of Lexington; five grandchildren, Michele Suffridge, Michael Allen, Margie Barks, Joshua Barker, and Keith Harmon; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Corinne Allen, of Floyd County.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, at Second Presbyterian Church by Dr. David Renwick.
Visitation, from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Main Street, Lexington.
Services will also be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, at Hall Funeral Home in Martin, with visitation from 3 p.m. until time of service.
Burial will follow in the Allen Family Cemetery in Floyd County.
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Barker, Joshua Barker, Brian Harmon, Robert Barks, Brent Allen, Bryan Allen, and Bennett Allen.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Dr., Lexington, KY. 40504, or Second Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 460 East Main St., Lexington, KY. 40507.

Elmer Parsons
Elmer Parsons, 68, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, died Thursday, August 29, 2002, at his residence.
Born August 3, 1934, in Blue Moon, he was the son of the late Noah Parsons and Plina Hall Parsons. He was a crane builder for American Hoist and retired in 1982, and was employed in the Maintenance Department at IPFW until 1997. He was a member of the Church of Christ, LaGrange, Indiana. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was an avid gardener, known for many varieties of roses. He enjoyed fishing and car and truck restoration.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara K. Kirkpatrick Parsons.
Other survivors include two sons, Steven Parsons of Raymond Street, and Terry L. Brown of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one step-son, Mark Mettert of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one daughter, Rose Parsons of LaGrange, Indiana; two step-daughters, Michelle Meyer of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one step-daughter, Monica Boyd of Greenwood, Indiana; one brother, Able Parsons of Eastern; two sisters, Mabel Lay of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Linda Stewart of Honaker; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Sue; one sister, Ellen Dey; one brother, Orville, and a step-son, Jerry Brown.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, September 3, at the Klaehn, Fahl and Melton Funeral Homes, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W. Wayne Street, with Rev. Jay Tyler officiating.
Burial was in the Highland Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to Parkview Healthcare and Hospice or Cancer Services of Allen County.
