Maxie Holbrooks Hackworth
Maxie Holbrooks Hackworth, 77, of Prestonsburg, Ky., died Monday, May 21, 2001, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, Ky., following a sudden illness.
Born on June 2, 1923, at Floyd County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Milt and Eliza McKenzie Holbrooks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Hackworth.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, John D. Holbrooks, Sollie Holbrooks and Theodore Holbrooks; two sisters, Roxie Butler and Nettie Holbrooks; five infant brothers and sisters.
She was a homemaker and attended the Chestnut Grove United Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Jarvis Hackworth of Salyersville, Ky.; one daughter, Elmina and Homer Nelson Jr., of Prestonsburg; two brothers, Ollie Holbrooks of Adrian, Michigan and Martin Holbrooks of Warsaw, Indiana; three sisters, Madelyn Hobbs of Warsaw, Indiana, Annie Adams of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Bethlee Wallen of Prestonsburg, Ky; four grandchildren, Mike and Karen Nelson, Sherry and Doug Greene, Tammy and Charlie Amburgey, James Jarvis and Tonya Hackworth; and four great-grandchildren, Matthew Amburgey, Lakeyn Mariah Green, Jayden Hackworth, and Kaelyn Greene.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 26, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, with Larry Adams, Morris Ray Miller and Jackie Prater officiating.
Burial will be in the Nelson Family Cemetery, Richardson Branch, Prestonsburg, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation was at the funeral home.

Myrtle Horne
Myrtle Horne, age 93, of Hueysville, Ky., wife of the late Grant Horne, passed away Friday, May 18, 2001, at her residence.
Born May 4, 1908, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Hood Gearheart and Molly Gearheart Allen. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hueysville Church of Christ.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Horne of Kendallville, In., Ronnie Horne and Mack Horne, both of Hueysville, Ky.; four daughters, Georgia Brown of Wilmington, Oh., Donna Young of Williamsburg, Ky., Linda Adcox of Hueysville, Ky., and Connie Prater of Eastern, Ky.; one brother, Herman Allen of Paris, Ky.; one sister, Peggy Dudleson of Hueysville, Ky.; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Myrtle Horne were conducted, 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2001, at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with Clergyman Paul Rice officiating.
Burial followed in the Gearheart Cemetery, Hueysville, Ky., under the professional care of Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Mike Shepherd, Larry Shepherd, Todd Bailey, Alan Knight, Brian Shepherd, Rick Allen and Kyle Tharp.
Honorary pallbearers: Ricky Young, Rodney Young and Randy Allen.

Paula A. Hall Mitchell
Paula A. Hall Mitchell, age 47, of Grethel, Ky., widow of Rex Mitchell, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at Harold, Ky., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born May 26, 1953, in Paintsville, Ky., the daughter of Angie Hunt Hall, Banner, Ky., and the late Earl Hall.
Survivors include one daughter, Brittany Erin Mitchell of Grethel, Ky., and one sister, Glenna Hall Childers of Banner, Ky.
Funeral services for Paula A. Hall Mitchell will be conducted Friday, May 25, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the clergymen, Doug Lewis and Ronnie Samons, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Jones (Webb) Cemetery, Allen, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Donna M. Rorrer
Donna M. Rorrer, age 61, of Prestonsburg, passed away Monday, February 24, 2003, at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born February 8, 1942, at Johns Creek, a daughter of the late Elzie and Grace (Privitt) Powers.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Rorrer.
Other survivors inclulde three daughters, Pat Lemaster, and Stephanie Hall, both of Prestonsburg, and Tammy Hammonds of Michigan; two brothers, Palmer Powers of Auxier, and Porter Powers of Brookhaven, Mississippi; three sisters, Helen Clark of Ironton, Ohio, Shirley Banks of Mishawauka, Indiana, and Ruth Phelps of Ypsilanti, Michigan; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 28, at 1 p.m., from the Auxier Freewill Baptist Church at Auxier, with Rev. Bobby Joe Spencer, Dave Powers, and Junior Fannin officiating.
Burial will follow in the Auxier Relocation Cemetery, at Auxier.
Visitation is at the Auxier Freewill Baptist Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Burke Funeral Home, Prestonsburg.

Johnny Glenn (Carbide) Terry
Johnny Glenn (Carbide) Terry, 50, of Wayland, died Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at Our Lady of the Way Hospital, Martin.
Born June 11, 1952, in Martin, he was the son of the late Corbett and Ellen Hicks Terry. He was a construction worker.
Survivors include two brothers, Jack Terry of Wayland, and Greg Terry of Newport News, Virginia; and two sisters, Joyce Bush of Martin, and Judy McGuire of Prestonsburg; a nephew, Brent McGuire; four nieces, Kristen Thacker, Misty Isaac, Regin Slone and Jessica Slone; one great-niece, and five great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m., at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Paul Coleman officiating.
Burial will be in the Hicks Cemetery at Dema.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Nellie Marie Leslie Webb
Nellie Marie Leslie Webb, age 84, of Bluffton, Ohio, wife of the late Delbert Webb, passed away Friday, February 21, 2003, at the St. Rita’s Medical Center, in Lima, Ohio.
Born May 4, 1918, in Kilgore, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Minnie Caldwell Leslie. She was a retired schoolteacher for the Floyd County School System in Kentucky, teaching at Garrett, McDowell and Wayland. She was also a teacher in Trenton and Madison Central in London, Ohio. She was a member of the Glo Church of Christ, and Senior Citizens of Bluffton, Ohio. She performed volunteer work at the Mennonite Nursing Home, and Marimor Rehab Center in Lima, Ohio. She received the J.C. Penny Humanitarian Award, and was a member of the Berea College Alumni Club.
She is survived by two sons, Carl D. and Nancy Webb, of Bryan, Ohio, and James A. and Nodga Webb of Elyria, Ohio; and one daughter, Ann and Maryland Francis of Bluffton, Ohio. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and ten step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Nellie Marie Webb will be Wednesday, February 26, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Brad Tackett officiating.
Burial will be in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, under direction of Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wayland Historical Society, 2662 Ky. Rt. 7, Wayland, Ky. 41666.

Lizzie N. Hays
Lizzie N. Hays, age 97, of McDowell, widow of Doug Hays, died Tuesday, January 21, 2003, in the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital, at McDowell.
She was born February 1, 1905, in Pike County, a daughter of the late Johnny and Fannie Ray Newsome. She was a retired restaurant owner.
Survivors include one daughter, Esther Sammons of McDowell; one son, Eugene Hamilton of McDowell; and one son-in-law, Ray Heinisch of McDowell, eight grandchildren, Richie (Sue) Sammons, Michael (Deb) Sammons, Darryll (Brenda) Hamilton, Larry (Nola) Hamilton, Terry (Theresa) Heinisch, James Bryon (Cheryl) Hamilton, Glenn Heinisch, and Ronnie Hall; eight great-grandchildren, Matthew Sammons, Jeffrey Sammons, Pam (Paul) Casey, Mikey (Mandi) Sammons, Larry W. Hamilton, Gary (Niki) Hamilton, Chris (Susan) Hamilton, and Carla (Scott) Stephens; seven great-great-grandchildren, Sara Kinser, Ikie Kinser, Ryan Heinisch, Brittany Heinisch, Jacob Sammons, Cameron Stephens and Dustin Hamilton.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Henry Hamilton Jr.; and one daughter, Madeline Heinisch.
Funeral services for Lizzie N. Hays were conducted Friday, January 24, at 11 a.m., in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Arnold Turner Jr., officiating.
Burial was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, with the Hall Funeral Home caring for those arrangements.
Pallbearers: Grandsons and great-grandsons.

Zada C. Ratliff
Zada C. Ratliff, 79, of Ohio, died Friday, January 31, 2003, at the Dallas Lamb Foundation Home, in Payne, Ohio.
Born April 24, 1923, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pearlie Stevens Bradley. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, in Convoy, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Ratliff.
Survivors include a son, Harlen “Bud” Ratliff of Oakwood, Ohio; four daughters, Bethel Hicks of Payne, Ohio; Dorothy Ratliff of Briceton, Ohio, and Edna Hensley and Judy Haiflich, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana; four brothers, Clifford Bradley of Lima, Ohio, Bill Bradley of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Coy Bradley of College Corners, Ohio, and Bob Bradley of Floyd County; six sisters, Susie Bradley, Ruth Moore, Louise Howard, Clara Parker, Bonnie Bradley and Shirley Haws, all of Floyd County; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Gorman, Harlen and Clyde Bradley.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, February 3, at Dean Herder Funeral Home in Paulding, Ohio, with Pastor Bud Wells officiating.
Burial was in the Wiltsie Cemetery in Payne, Ohio.
