Marie Click died Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at Community Nursing Home, Marion, OH. (Formerly of Emma, KY).
Born January 17, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Tilden and Eva Boyd. On August 3, 1936 she married Frank Click of Arkansas Creek, Martin Ky. He died Nov. 17, 1944.
As a widow with three young daughters she provided a loving and caring home. In later years she was employed at Arlans Dept. Store in Ypsilanti, MI where she retired. She then returned to her home place at Emma, Ky where she resided for 17 years. Due to failing health she resided in Marion, OH in care of her loving daughters for 10 years.
She is survived by her daughters: Patsy (Don) Hayes, Marion, OH, ; Sandra Porter, Ypsilanti, MI, Frankie Sue Bartley, Mt. Gilead, OH.; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; two living sisters: Mildred (David) Potts, Emma, KY, Norma Conley, Ypsilanti, MI; one brother, Darwin (Anne) Boyd, Riverside, CA.
She was preceded in death by sisters: Wanda Cobb, Birdus Conley and Estelle Bayes. One brother, Raymond Boyd.
Marie Click will be at Burke Funeral Home, 93 Pickett Lane, Prestonsburg, KY on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001. For further details, please call funeral home at (606)874-2121.

Billie Joyce Hamilton Isaacs
Billie Joyce Hamilton Isaacs, 55, of Teaberry, Ky., died Friday, October 26, 2001, following a brief illness.
Born on August 19, 1946, in Pike County, Ky., she was the daughter of Edna Newsome Hamilton of Teaberry, Ky., and the late Willie Hamilton. She was a retired head start teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leno Isaacs.
Survivors include one daughter, Jill (Frank, Jr.) Johnson of Teaberry, Ky.; three brothers, Effort Hamilton of Florida, Terry Hamilton, and Gary Hamilton, both of Teaberry, Ky.; three sisters, Geraldine Newsome of Teaberry, Ky., Janet Sue Fuller of Buroak, Mich., Janice Joyce Hall of Ohio; one grandson, Jeremy Johnson.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Hamilton.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, October 29, 2001, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky., with ministers of Joe Reynolds Old Regular Baptist Church officiating.
Burial was in the Joe Reynolds Cemetery at Beaver, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home.

Bernice (Bobby) Bradley
Bernice (Bobby) Bradley, 54, of Riverview Health Care, Prestonsburg, Ky., died Friday, October 26, 2001, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Born on February 21, 1947, in West Prestonsburg, Ky., he was the son of the late Bernis Bradley and Gertrude Burkett Gibson Bradley. He was disabled.
Survivors include one uncle, Allen Burkett of Pierceton, Ind., and several cousins.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, October 29, 2001, at 11:00 a.m., at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Chester Keathley and Denver Meade officiating.
Interment was in the Richmond Memorial Cemetery, Prestonsburg, Ky.
Pallbearers: Doug Burkett, Mike Burkett, Robin Whitaker, Thomas Robinson, and Oscar Wallen Jr.

Oliver Prater
Oliver Prater, 75, of Allen, Ky., formerly of Middle Creek, died Saturday, October 27, 2001, following an extended illness.
Born on September 29, 1926, at Middle Creek, Prestonsburg, Ky., he was the son of the late Levi and Rosa Lee Parrott Prater, and Elsie Dotson Prater. He was self-employed and retired from Prater Market and Farm Equipment and was a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Ward Prater.
Other survivors include two daughters, Linda R. Prater of Winona Lake, Ind., Rebecca Hubbard of Frankfort, Ky.; one son-in-law, Tim Hubbard of Frankfort, Ky.; two grandsons, Adam Prater and Zachary Levi Hubbard.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Robinette and Myrtle Salyers.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 31, 2001, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky., with Manford Fannin officiating.
Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

James Hall
James Hall, age 85, of Grethel, Ky., husband of the late Martha Adams Hall, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2001, at the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital, McDowell, Ky., following an extended illness.
He was born January 7, 1916, in Pike County, Ky., the son of the late Scott Hall and Judy England Hall. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Pilgrim Home Regular Baptist Church, Grethel, Ky.
Survivors include two sons, Mathew Hall of Grethel, Ky., Andy Hall of Frankfort, Ky.; one daughter, Judy Lovas of Tiffin, Oh.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for James Hall will be conducted Sunday, October 28, 2001, at 11 a.m., at the Pilgrim Home Regular Baptist Church, Grethel, Ky., with the Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will follow in the family cemetery, (Frasure Branch), Grethel, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation is after 12 noon Friday, at the church.

David R. “Socker” Akers
David R. “Socker” Akers, age 84, of Martin, Ky., passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2001, at his residence.
He was born April 16, 1916, in Dana, Ky., the son of the late T.B. Akers and Janie Dingus Akers. He was a retired clerical worker for Island Creek Coal Company, a graduate of Alice Lloyd College, a U.S. Army World War II veteran, a member of the AMVETS, and John W. Hall Masonic Lodge No. 950, and the DAV.
Survivors include one son, Joseph Edward Akers of McDowell, Ky.; one daughter, Nancy Mae Lytle of Marion, In.; five sisters, Toda Tackett and Emadale Boyd, both of Dana, Ky., Malta Howell of McDowell, Ky., Novella Compton of Betsy Layne, Ky., Marie Kirby of Prestonsburg, Ky.; one half-sister, Etta Crisp of Allen, Ky.; three grandchildren, Joseph Cruse Akers, Dalton Reed, Lisa Ann Akers; one great-grandchild, Kelli Suzanne Akers, and a special friend, Nannie Tackett of Martin, Ky.
Funeral services for David R. Akers will be conducted Saturday, October 27, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the clergymen, Clinton Moore and Jimmy Hall, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Boyd Cemetery, Dana, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Jay D. Cook
Jay D. Cook, age 79, of Topmost, Ky., husband of Nola Hall Cook, passed away Monday, October 22, 2001, at the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital, McDowell, Ky.
He was born December 16, 1921, at Topmost, Ky., the son of the late Frank W. Cook and Georgiana Jones Cook. He was a retired coal miner and a World War II Army veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Jerry Cook of Richmond, Ky., Michael G. Cook of London, Ky., Ted Cook of Jacksonville, Fl.; two daughters, Sharon Walstrom of Los Alamos, N.M., Bunny Baldwin of Bowling Green, Ky.; one brother, Bobby Cook of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Ruby Cook of Dry Creek, Ky., Mary Lee Ridner of Detroit, Mi., and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services for Jay D. Cook will be conducted, Thursday, October 25, 2001, at 11:00 a.m., at the Providence Old Regular Baptist Church, Topmost, Ky., with the Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dry Creek Cemetery, Topmost, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation is being held at the funeral home, and will be held after 10:00 a.m., Thursday, at the church.

Charles (Chuck) Burke Jr.
Charles (Chuck) Burke Jr., 36, of Kermit, WV., died Sunday, October 21, 2001, in Kermit.
Born August 19, 1965, in Germany, he was the son of Edith Dewolf and the late Charles Burke Sr. He was self employed.
Survivors include one son, Charles Andrew Burke of Martin, Ky.; one daughter, Nikki Dawn Burke of Kermit, WV; and one sister, Christa Martinz of Lawton, Okla.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2001, in the Vineyard Church, with Brumley Marcum and Sterling Marcum officiating.
Burial will be in the Buffalo Horn Cemetery, under the direction of Phelps & Son Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the Vineyard Church.
