Matthew Watkins
Matthew Watkins, 60, of Teaberry, husband of the late Edith Marie Watkins, died Saturday, December 24, 2000, at his residence.
Born May 16, 1940, in Salyersville, he was the son of the late Enoch and Julia Barnett Watkins. He was a retired factory worker.
He is survived by one son, Gary Dole Watkins of Teaberry; two daughters, Vicki Lynn Adzic of Hillsdale, Michigan, and Vicki Marie Watkins of Teaberry; one brother, James Watkins of Muskegon, Michigan.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Thursday, December 28, at the Samaria Regular Baptist Church at Teaberry, with Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial was in the Denzil Hall Cemetery in Grethel, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home of Martin.
Pallbearers were Clyde Hamilton, Chris Rudd, Randall Robinson, Greg Bowling, Glendale Osborne, Brad Hamilton, Kenny Hamilton and Willard Osborne Jr.

Betty Mae Porter Patton
Betty Mae Porter Patton, 87, of Belleville, Michigan, formerly of Prestonsburg, died Friday, December 15, 2000, at the Whitehall Nursing Home, following an extended illness.
Born February 15, 1913, in Lawton, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Porter and Anna Mae Leadingham Porter. She was formerly employed as a cook at several restaurants in Prestonsburg, and attended the Prestonsburg Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Roy Patton of Belleville, Michigan; one half-sister, Odell Osborne of Prestonsburg; and one grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted, Wednesday, December 20, at 11 a.m., at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, Prestonsburg, with Evangelist Bennie Blankenship officiating.
Burial will be in the Richmond Memorial Cemetery, Prestonsburg, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.

Billie Price
Billie Price, 74, of North Manchester, Ind., died Thursday, December 21, 2000, at the Community Care Center in Wabash, Ind., following an extended illness.
Born January 5, 1926, in Prestonsburg to Frank and Melvina Hunter Price, he was the husband of Mabel Paul Price. A retired barber, he was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Bill Frank Price of LaMarque, Texas, James C. Price of Prestonsburg, Richard Price of Prestonsburg, Frank Baldridge of South Whitley, Ind., and Clark Girvin of Columbia City, Ind.; four daughters, Ruth Ann Hobson of Prestonsburg, Pamela Coble of North Manchester, Angie Geddes of Lexington and Debbie Baldridge of Ohio; one step-son, John Paul of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two step-daughters, Marsha Sims of Danville and Nelma Stoner of Cromwell, Tenn.; several grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Prestonsburg with the Rev. Tom Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mayo Cemetery in Prestonsburg. Visitation was held Tuesday, December 26.

Juanita Brown Gibson
Juanita Brown Gibson, 89, of Weeksbury, died Saturday, December 23, 2000, at Prestonsburg Health Care Center, following an extended illness.
She was born September 20, 1911, in Wesburn, Tennessee, and was a daughter of the late James Arthur and Ella Britt Brown. She was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Prestonsburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Elbert Gibson, and three sons, James Elbert Gibson, Carlos Gibson and Jimmy Gibson.
Among her survivors are one son, Everlett Lee Gibson of Tennessee; three daughters, Linda Senig of Weeksbury, Frances Gardner of Chicago, and Carolyn Sue Gibson of Prestonsburg; one sister, Ethel Bartley of Florida; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 27, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, with Seventh Day Adventist ministers officiating. Burial is to follow in the Charlie Newman Cemetery at Hi Hat.

Mary Moore
Mary Moore, 90, of Louisville, formerly of Melvin, died Saturday, December 23, 2000, at her residence.
She was born December 26, 1910, in Knott County, a daughter of the late Manard and Pricey Gibson Hall. She was a homema.ker and a member of the Joppa Regular Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Earnest Moore.
She is survived by a son, Glen Edward Moore of Melvin; a daughter, Geneva Thornsberry of Louisville; a brother, Albro Hall of Jackhorn; four sisters, Eddie May Boyd, Liza Pass, Opal Hall, and Arizona Madison, all of Ohio; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 28, at 10 a.m., at the Joppa Regular Baptist Church at Melvin, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial is to be in the Buckingham Cemetery at Bypro, under the direction of R.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home of Virgie.
Visitation is at the church, with services on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Bobby Roger Stacy
Bobby Roger Stacy, 40, of Garrett, died Saturday, December 23, 2000, at his residence, after a brief illness.
Born March 28, 1960, in Perry County, he was a son of Marcillous and Carolyn Collins Stacy. He was a disabled mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Bernadine Duff Stacy; two sons, Lloyd Stacy of Estill and Justin Stacy of Garrett; two brothers, James Edward Stacy of Mousie and Marcus Wayne Stacy of Wayland; and one sister, Josephine Boyd of Prestonsburg.
Funeral services were Tuesday, December 26, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home at Martin, with Clinton (Buddy) Jones, Jack Adkins and others officiating. Burial was in the Lackey Cemetery at Lackey.

Don Cook
Don Cook, 80, of Topmost, died Sunday, December 24, 2000, at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital, following an extended illness.
He was born June 4, 1920, in Knott County, a son of the late Frank W. Cook and Anna Jones Cook. He was a retired coal miner, a veteran of World War II, a lifetime member of the DAV Chapter 128, Garrett, and a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dola Hall Cook; his second wife, Lucy Collins Gayheart Cook; two sons, Von Cook and Estill Cook, and one daughter, Marcella Keane.
Survivors include two sons, Don Cook Jr. of Mallie, and Mark Cook of Topmost; five daughters, Norma Schmitz of Mt. Washington, Janice Collins of Greenville, Ohio, Sue Jones of Banner, Shelley Bryant of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Kathy Stamper of Redfox; two brothers, J.D. Cook of Topmost and Bobby Cook of Charleston, South Carolina; two sisters, Ruby Stanfield of Topmost and Mary Rydner of Michigan; 18 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 27, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, with Roger Hicks and other Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial is to be in the Joe Hall Cemetery at Topmost.

Everette Newsome
Everette Newsome, 64, of Harold, died Sunday, December 24, 2000, at Varney, following an extended illness.
He was born March 4, 1936, at Orkney, and was a son of the late Chester and Minnie Sword Newsome. He was a disabled coal miner and a veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Margrene Kidd Newsome; three sons, Randy Newsome of Louisa, Jonathan Mark Newsome of Betsy Layne, and Mack Arthur Newsome of Varney; one daughter, Kim Adkins of Pikeville; one brother, Den Hunter of Harold; two sisters, Charity Lynn of Lincoln Park, Michigan, and Lola Mae Kidd of Louisa; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 27, at 11 a.m., at Little Dove Old Regular Baptist Church at Honaker, with ministers of the Old Regular Baptist faith officiating. Burial is to follow in the Kidd Cemetery at Honaker, with arrangements by Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home of Martin.

Andrew Granville Childress
Andrew Granville Childress, 96, of Banner, died Friday, December 22, 2000, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born on January 22, 1904, in Grundy, Virginia, he was the son of the late Sparrell and Martha Owens Childress. He was a retired electrician, veteran of the United States Army and Merchant Marines and was a member of the Baptist Church in Mississippi.
His wife, Kesley Childers Childress, perceded him in death.
Survivors include two brothers, Janet Sue Hall of Banner, Betty Jane Arrington of Augusta, Georgia, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 23, at 2 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Tracy Patton officiating.
Burial was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
D.A.V. funeral rites were conducted by Chapter 169 at Betsy Layne.
