Lovel Hall

Lovel Hall, 53, of Martin, died Monday, August 28, 2000, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, following a long illness.

He was born February 3, 1947, in Grethel, the son of the late William Jay "W.J." Hall and Maudie Vance Hall. He was the Floyd County Property Valuation administrator, a member of the Masonic Lodge, Wheelwright No. 899, Scottish Rite (25 years), a member of the Oleika Shrine, Lexington, member of the International Assessing Officers, a member of the Kentucky State PVA Association, a Kentucky Colonel, and a former board member for the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Cendia Marie Marshall Hall.

Other survivors include two daughters, Connie Hancock of Martin, Ronda Green of Langley; four brothers, Virgil B. Hall of Okeechobee, Florida, James K. Hall of Beaver, Forrest D. Hall of Grethel, Denzil Ray Hall of McDowell; two sisters, Delphia Driggs of Towsen, Maryland, Eloise Pratt of Columbus, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

The Masonic service will be conducted Thursday at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 1, at 1 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with the clergymen, Clinton Moore and Jimmy Hall, officiating.

Serving as pallbearers for the funeral of Lovel Hall were Douglas R. Hall, Greg Hall, James Hall, Stewart Hall, Hugh Hall, Mark Pratt, Renny Hall, Redgy Hall, Ron Hall, Les Hall, Danny Hall, Carson Driggs Jr., Mike Driggs, Drexal Hall, John Marshall, and Rick Hancock. Honorary pallbearers were past and present Floyd County officials and fellow Property Valuation Administrators.

Burial will be in the W.J. Hall Cemetery, at Grethel, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.

Richard L. Moore

Richard L. Moore, 74, of Hartville, Ohio, died Monday, August 28, 2000, at home, following a brief illness.

He was born May 22, 1926, in Wayland, the son of the late Noah and Elie Stewart Moore. He retired from the Babcock and Wilcox Company in 1978 as a supervisor of welding and fabrication after 26 yeas of service at the Canton Plant with E.W. Bliss and B & W combined. He was a member of the Steelworkers Union as a welder with E.W. Bliss Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WW II. He was a member of the local Beekeeper Association and the Babcock & Wilcox Retirees Club.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Clatworthy Moore.

Other survivors include three brothers, Arnold Ray, James, and Larry; three sisters, Artie McMillan, Florence Lindamood and Donna Butler.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 1, at 11 a.m., in the Arnold Funeral Home, Hartville.

Burial will be in the Mount Peace Cemetery, under the direction of Arnold Funeral Home.

Rosemary Ratliff

Rosemary Ratliff, 73, of Sidney, Ohio, died August 27, 2000, at Wilson Memorial Hospital.

Born November 26, 1926, at Maytown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel P. Ratliff and Lillie Frasure Ratliff.

Her husband, Henry C. Ratliff, preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Lola Strunk, Vonda Douglas and Beulah Clark, all of Sidney; and two brothers, Don Ratliff, of Sidney and James Ratliff, of Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 30, at 11 a.m., at the Cromes Funeral Homes, Sidney, Ohio, with Rev. Kenneth Ellis officiating.

Burial will be in the Shelby Memory Gardens, in Sidney, Ohio, under the direction of Cromes Funeral Home.

Shelby Jean Campbell

Shelby Jean Campbell, 62, of Spring, Texas, formerly of Dana, died Thursday, August 24, 2000, at the residence of her mother, Mona Boyd, at Dana.

Born on December 28, 1937, in Dana, she was the daughter of Mona Boyd, of Dana, and the late Arthur A. Boyd. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Her husband, Curtis Campbell, preceded her in death.

Survivors, other than her mother, include two sons, Glenn Campbell and Curtis Campbell, both of Spring, Texas; three brothers, Montis Boyd and Juan Boyd both of Dana; Stephen Boyd of Prestonsburg; one sister, Gail Taylor of Dana; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 28, at 10 a.m., at the Klein Funeral Home, Tomball, Texas.

Burial was in the Klein Cemetery, in Pinehurst, Texas.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Martin.

Millard Sizemore

Millard Sizemore, 72, of Martin, died Friday, August 25, 2000, in St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, following an extended illness.

He was born September 15, 1927, in Orkney, the son of the late Willie Sizemore and Mollie Flannery Sizemore. He was a retired coal miner; member of the U.M.W.A.; a U.S. Army, World War II veteran; and a member of the First Baptist Church, Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Eula Mae Stephens Sizemore.

Other survivors include three sons, Terry Sizemore, Bobby Sizemore and John Sizemore, all of Martin; three brothers, Willard Sizemore of Martin, Leonard Ray Sizemore of Holgate, Ohio, Larry Sizemore of Deshler, Ohio; four sisters, Daisy L. Vines of Murr Hot Springs, California, Della Jane Moore of Cheyenne Wyoming, Sarah Allen Mitchell of Wheelwright, Martha Sue Hall of Martin; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 28, at 1 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with the clergyman, Graydon Howard, officiating.

Burial was in the Dingus Cemetery, (Dinwood) Martin, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Danny Sizemore, Joe Bailey, Delmer Hall, Tommy Claude Hall, Steve Hall, Danny Flannery, Jonathan Sizemore, Dane Sizemore, Terry Thompson, Rufus Samons, and Rubin Stephens.

Mida Jane King

Mida Jane King, 94, of Louisville, formerly of Printer, died Friday, August 25, 2000, in Wesley Manor, Louisville.

She was born September 8, 1905, in Printer, the daughter of the late William "Will" Halbert and Kate Sizemore Halbert. She was a member of the Trinty Hills United Methodist Church, Lexington.

Her husband, Walter Scott King, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Franklin Delano King of Saline, Michigan, William Edward King of Greenfield, Ohio; two daughters, Eleanor Isaacs of Louisville, Wally Jarrell Hinton of Maysville, and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 28, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with the clergyman, Kurtis Scott King, officiating.

Burial was in the Lucy Hall Cemetery, at McDowell, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Martin.

Serving as pallbearers were Ken Hinton, Korey King, Devin King, Kurt King, Paul Weaver and Johnny Holbrook.

Alice Stump

Alice Stump, 82 of Phelps passed away August 26, 2000, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson.

She was born June 17, 1918, in Phelps, the daughter of the late George H. and Florence Dotson Coleman.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Peter Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Western Stump; seven brothers and one sister.

Survivors include five sons, Vernon Stump of Phelps, Edward Stump of Clay City, Jimmy Stump of Frenchburg, Charles Stump of Ransom, Allan Stump of Hazard; one daughter Marie Casey of Clay City; two sisters Bessie Layne of Pikeville, Maebelle Lee of Covington; 19 grand children and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 29 at 1:00 p.m., at the Peter Creek Primitive Baptist Church at Phelps.

Visitation will be at the church after 5 p.m., Sunday, August 27, with services at 7 p.m., with Primitive Baptist Ministers officiating.

Interment will be at the Dotson Cemetery, Beech Creek, Phelps.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Gary D. Thompson

Gary D. Thompson, 62, of Washington Court House, Ohio, died Friday, August 25, 2000, at 1:30 a.m., at Mount Carmel West in Columbus, Ohio, following an extended illness.

He was born April 8, 1938, in Paintsville to Thomas Burton and Idola Virginia Hale Thompson. He moved to Washington Court House in 1961 from Prestonsburg.

He was a member of St. Colman Catholic Church and a 27-year employee of Armco Steele.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Ann Snodgrass; one daughter Toni Horney of Washington Court House; two sons, Gary Thompson of Washington Court House, and Mark Thompson of Mount Sterling; three grandchildren; and one brother, Thomas Burton Thompson of Prestonsburg.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 28, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Colman Catholic church by the Rev. Father Jan C. Sullivan, pastor at the church. Cremation will follow the service.

Friends may call at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington, Court House Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
