Clayton Edward Wills, 90, of La Grange, died Friday, December 29, 2000, at Homestead Nursing Home in New Castle.
Born on December 13, 1910, in Water Gap, he was the son of the late Josie Jarrell and James Hiram Wills. He was a correctional officer, KY State Reformatory, at La Grange, and was a member of Pewee Valley Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Nichols Wills of La Grange; two sons, James Donald Wills of Frankfort, Rodney Wills of Prestonsburg; one daughter, Carolyn Rowe of Prestonsburg; three stepsons, Merlin Woods of South Haven, Michigan, Sturgill Woods of Louisville, Lloyd Woods of New Castle; three stepdaughters, Ellree Hyden of Prestonsburg, Nellie Woods of La Grange, Lucille Robertson of Crestwood; one brother, Ollie Wills of Oak Hill, Ohio; one sister, Alberto Calhoun of Oak Hill, Ohio; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 30, at the Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home, La Grange, with Mike Carpenter of Good Shepherd Baptist Church officiating.
Burial was in the Valley of Rest Cemetery, at La Grange, under the direction of Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Sue Henson
Elizabeth Sue Henson, 24, of Wallingford, died Friday, December 29, 2000, in Fleminsburg.
She was born July 7, 1976, in Millersburg, Ohio, the daughter of Jeff D. and Gleema G. Henson. She was a retail merchant.
Survivors, other than her parents, include one brother, Jeffree D. Henson of Wallingford; one sister, Jessica Derkis of Toledo, Ohio.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 2, at 11 a.m., in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Ted Shannon officiating.
Burial was in the Greenbury Hall Cemetery, McDowell, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Sandy Henson, Mark Henson, Matthew Henson, Waverly Henson, Chuckie Austin, J.D. Adams, Jeffrey Henson, Ernie Blevins and Don Derkis.

James Monroe Powers
James Monroe Powers, 92, of Auxier, died Monday, January 1, 2001, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, following an extended illness.
Born on August 8, 1908, on Johns Creek, he was the son of the late David ad Jennilee Honeycutt Powers. He was a disabled coal miner, and was a member of the Auxier Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ronnie Privette Powers.
Survivors include four sons, Richard Dean Powers of Auxier, Robert Keith Powers of Abbott, Glenn Powers and William James Powers, both of Prestonsburg; three daughters, Deanna Harless of Hager Hill, Charlene Harless of Dayton, Ohio, Maggie Collins of Auxier; one brother, George Powers of Auxier, 52 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 4, at 1 p.m., at the Auxier Freewill Baptist Chuch, with Rev. Bobby Spencer, Shane Powers, and James Mollette officiating.
Burial will be in the Auxier Relocation Cemetery, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Active pallbearers were Roger Collins, Micheal Harless, Scott Powers, Mark Harless, Dean Harless, Wayne Harless, Shane Powers, Glen Jr. Powers, Shawn Powers, George Harless and Charles Powers.

Mathew Watkins
Mathew Watkins, 60, of Teaberry, died Saturday, December 24, 2000, at his residence.
Born on May 16, 1940, in Salyersville, he was the son of the late Enoch and Julia Barnett Watkins. He was a retired factory worker.
His wife, Edith Marie Watkins, preceded him in death.
He is survived by one son, Gary Dale Watkins of Teaberry; two daughters, Vicki Lynn Adzic of Hillsdale, Michigan, and Vicki Marie Watkins of Teaberry; one brother, James Watkins of Muskeogen, Michigan; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, December 28, at the Samaria Regular Baptist Church at Teaberry, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial was in the Denzil Hall Cemetery, at Grethel, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Pallbearers were Clyde Hamilton, Chris Rudd, Randall Robinson, Greg Bowling, Glendale Osborne, Brad Hamilton, Kenny Hamilton, and Gary Kiser.

Palmer Frasure
Palmer Frasure, 65, of Teaberry, died Saturday, December 30, 2000, at his residence, following a sudden illness.
Born on January 17, 1935, in Galveston, he was the son of Verlie Hamilton Frasure of Galveston and the late Troy Frasure. He was a disabled coal miner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie Blankenship Frasure.
Survivors include one son, Harm Frasure of Paintsville; one daughter, Diana Burchett of Ivel; six brothers, Ed Frasure of Pikeville, Tom Frasure, Glen Frasure, Charles Frasure, and Garrett Frasure, all of Galveston, Eddie Frasure of Collinsville, Virginia; one sister, Geraldine Blankenship of Galveston, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 3, 2001, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Monford Howell and other Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will be in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.

Claude Hall
Claude Hall, 58, of Logansport, Indiana, formerly of Betsy Layne, died Wednesday, December 27, 2000, at Memorial Hospital, Logansport.
He was born August 6, 1942, at Betsy Layne, the son of the late Langley and Roxie Workman Hall. He was a die-cast supervisor at SUS Die Cast Products; a member of the Calvary Baptist Church; and had worked at Alpha Industries for 29 years.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hall.
Other survivors include one son, Michael David of Logansport, Indiana; two brothers, Lloyd Hall of Warsaw, Indiana and Bill Hall of Betsy Layne; one sister, Orma Jean Holbrook of Betsy Layne; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 1, 2001 at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin.
Burial was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jordan Compton, William Layne, Bryan Layne, Eddie Clark, Justin Kidd and William Holbrook.

Hubert Clayton Gambill
Hubert Clayton Gambill, 81, of Paintsville, died Friday, December 29, 2000, at the V.A. Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.
Born December 9, 1919, in Pike County, he was the son of the late Lawrence C. Gambill and Oma Drago Gambill. He was self-employed at Gambill’s Electric. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Leona Painter Gambill.
Other survivors include one son, Michael Gambill, and one stepson, James G. Prater, both of Prestonsburg; two daughters, Virginia L. Gambill and Kathy Kirk, both of Paintsville; two brothers, Frank Gambill of Berea, Marvin Gambill of Cincinnati, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 1, 2001, at the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel, Paintsville, with Rev. Wayne Fields and Rev. Jimmy Jennings officiating.
Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park, at Staffordsville, under the direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home.

Edna Johnson Akers
Edna Johnson Akers, 99, of Louisville, died December 20, 2000.
She was born November 26, 1901, at Cody, a daughter of the late Simeon and Alice Johnson. She was a charter member of Antioch Old Regular Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy B. Akers.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Zegaib; two sons, Astor Akers and Donald Akers; three sisters, Cora Johnson, Eva Sterling and Lillian Cope; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, December 23, at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home in Shepherdsville, with Bro. Hillard Newsome officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery.

Earl Lee Honaker
Earl Lee Honaker, 47, of Ashland, formerly of Floyd County, died December 27, 2000, at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville.
He was born April 18, 1953, in Floyd County, and was the son of the late Sie and Birdie Mosley Hamilton. He was a concrete worker for Janie Ledingham Construction of Maysville, a member of Local 132 Operative Plasters Concrete and Cement Finishers, and a member of Masons International in Washington Courthouse, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Delena Rose Gibson Honaker; a son, Sean E. Honaker of Florida; a daughter, Melissa Irene Honaker of North Carolina; four brothers, Sie Hamilton Jr. of Price, Bobby Hamilton and Harold Dean Moore of McDowell, and Billy Green Hamilton of Marysville, Ohio; four sisters, Shelby Jean Moore of Stroh, Indiana, Audrey Stratton of Ivel, Opal Moore of McDowell and Charlene Mosley of Garner; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, December 30, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, with ministers of the Old Regular Baptist faith officiating. Burial was in the Orkney Cemetery at McDowell.
Pallbearers were Terry Marcum, Rick Lockhart, Joseph Stanley, Mike Moore and Sie Hamilton Jr.
