William Cecil Purcell

William Cecil Purcell, age 92, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013 at Springview Health and Rehab in Leitchfield, KY.

He was born on July 4, 1920, in Short Creek, KY, the son of the late Clarence Ray and Ona Dennison Purcell.

He was a farmer, who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hunting ginseng. He was a Baptist by faith, and member of the Short Creek Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Carter Purcell; one son, Jim Purcell and his wife, June, all of Caneyville; five grandchildren, Tracey Elmore, Darren Purcell, Scott Purcell, Allen Tabor, and Jamie Tabor; five great-grandchildren, Shelby, Seth, and Sophia Elmore, and Robert and Ethan Purcell.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Clarence Edward Purcell, and one brother, Malcolm Purcell.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, (June 9, 2013) at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Chester Shartzer will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hosparus of Central KY, or to the New Hope Cemetery fund.

Herbert H. Hunt

Herbert H. Hunt, age 85, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Norton’s Hospital in Louisville, KY.

He was born on June 14, 1928 in Morgantown, KY, the son of the late Theodore Crenshaw and Nevada Smith Hunt.

He was retired from General Electric, and sang and enjoyed Southern Gospel. He was a member of the New Harvest Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Allen Hunt, two sons, Jonathon Hunt (Mary) of Dothan, Alabama and Michael Hunt (Audry) of Clarksville, Indiana, two step-daughters, Sherry Meredith of Caneyville and Sheila Dotson of Caneyville, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Albert Hunt.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Arland Benningfield will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday and from 12 noon Monday until time of services.

Raymond R. Stevenson

Raymond R. Stevenson, age 90, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013 at his home.

He was born on November 3, 1922 in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Mitchell and Daisy Johnson Stevenson.

HE was retired from American Standard and a retired painter. An Army World War II veteran, who enjoyed fishing and music. He was General Baptist and was a member of the American Legion VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Stevenson, two daughters, Rita Elmore of Savannah, GA and RoJeanna Pank of Greensburg, IN, three sons, Jerry of California, Danny and Joe Stevenson, both of Louisville, KY, a step-son, J.R. Oller of Elizabethtown, KY, nine grandchildren, Brad, James, Jessie, Melissa, Adam, Nicole, Daniele, Brandon and Lauren and several great-grandchildren, one brother, Elza Stevenson of Mt. Washington, KY, two sisters, Marie Elmore of Leitchfield and May Decker of Indiana.

Other than his parents, eh was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Gertrude Blanton, Bea Logsdon, Letha Shartzer and Dennis and Rev. Clayton Stevenson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bros. Tim Gage, Rudd Kerr and Wilford Logsdon will be officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9 a.m. Thursday until time of services.

Clinton Decker

Clinton Decker, age 62, of Leitchfield, Kentucky, passed away May 14, 2013 at the University of Louisville. He was born August 1, 1950 in Leitchfield, KY, the son of Shelt and Amie Decker. He was a machine operator at Leggett and Platt.

Survivors include, his wife, Debbie Decker of Leitchfield, one daughter, Jennifer Allen (Barry) Nashville, TN, three grandchildren, Chaley, Shaun, & Chase Allen all of Nashville, TN, two brothers, Floyd Decker (Maggie) & Elwood Decker (Jean) both of Leitchfield, three sisters, Virginia Davis of Leitchfield, Doris Witten (Condi) of Clarkson, & Brenda Woods of Bee Spring, and his father-in-law, Lester Stinnett.

He was preceded in death, by his parents, one brother, Harlan Decker, and one sister, Aileen Loflin.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18th, 2013 at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Home with Bro. Vester Decker officiating. Burial will be at the Anneta Cemetery in Anneta, Kentucky. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 17th from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.

Mark Anthony Bratcher

Mark Anthony Bratcher, 49, of Louisville, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 at the Saline Care Nursing Facility in Harrisburg, IL.

He was born on November 27, 1963 in Louisville, the son of the late Leon and Eva (Swift) Bratcher. Mark was a self-employed carpenter who loved to play music, especially drums. He was also a member of the Baptist Faith.

Mark is survived by his sister Vickie Renfrow, his brother Donnie Bratcher, and his sister Gail Copley, all of Louisville, and his brother Charles Bruce Bratcher of Elizabethtown. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandmother Delphie Bratcher.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 30 at 2 p.m. at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro. Rodney Smith will be officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Harmony Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Terry Lee Gibson

Terry Lee Gibson, age 19, of Leitchfield, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 at his residence. He was born September 17, 1993 in Grayson County, KY, the son of Patricia Gibson.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia Gibson of Leitchfield, three brothers, Chris Fulkerson (Amber), of Falls of Rough, Shannon Fulkerson (Kelly) of Caneyville, & Jerry Gibson of Leitchfield, one sister, Melissa Beatty of Leitchfield, his grandparents, Norman & Hettie Conder, four nieces, Maggie & Autumn Grace Fulkerson, Lacey Puckett, & Candyce Embry, and eight nephews, Sebastian, & Wesley Fulkerson, Austin Puckett, Cody, Gage, & Bradley Emmons, Branden & J.J. Embry.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary & Gene Chilton, and his special uncle, Kingston Shrader.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Watson and Hunt Funeral Directors with Bro. Billy Mason officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 3:00 p.m., Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
