Jack Gary Williams
1937-2016
Jack Gary Williams of Georgetown, KY passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in Lexington, KY. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, June Bonny Williams. He was born August 4, 1937 in Paintsville, KY to the late Ottie F. and Lillian Wheeler Williams. His only sibling, Mary Carolyn Williams, preceded in him in death. He was a graduate of Paintsville High School and Georgetown College where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After serving in the United States Marine Corp, he spent 41 years as a teacher, coach and school administrator, loving every minute of it.
Besides his wife, Jack is also survived by two children, Julie (Jeremy) Cron of Georgetown and Jared (Leslie) Williams of Mt. Juliet, TN; three grandchildren, Ryan Karcher of Georgetown, Brent and Lillian Williams of Mt. Juliet, Tenn. and two step-grandchildren, James and Maggie Cron of Georgetown; brother-in-law, Tom (Francine) Bonny of Irvine.
He was inducted into the Georgetown College Sports Hall of Fame in 2002 and into the Paintsville High School Alumni Association Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.
A special “thank you” to Bob Washburn, Dr. Gus Bynum, Greg McClelland, Dr. Kendall and Nancy Brown, Dr. Craig Martin and Dr. Ricky Myhand.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Johnson’s Funeral Home, conducted by Pastors Tommy Midkiff and Bob Fox. Burial will follow at the Georgetown Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, Faith Baptist Church, Georgetown or Wisemantown United Methodist Church in Irvine.

James Carroll Meade
James Carroll Meade, June 12, 1927 – Sept. 5, 2015. James was born to Rollie and Murzie (Pelphrey) Meade of Staffordsville, KY.
The family continued to grow to two brothers, Albert Clayton and Charles Wendell, and four sisters, Laura Alice, Nola Mae, Phyllis Ann and Virginia Ruth.
James was drafted into the Army in 1945 to Camp Atterberry, IN and then reenlisted while assigned to Squadron D, 4th Airdome Group in 1947 in Indianapolis, IN.
Later James attended Kansas City School of Watchmaking, Engraving, Jewelry and Stone Setting from 1950-1952. He owned and maintained his jewelry store ”Meade’s Jewelry” in downtown Paintsville on Main Street from 1952 to 1963. Then he began to work as a salesman in seven states for Jaylen Diamond Co. and House of Kraus Genuine Stone Company then added Sandberg and Sikorski diamond companies.
The funeral services was attended by his wife Sharon, his children Harold, Dewey and Teresa, his brother and sisters, grand and great-grand children, cousins and many friends.
James home church was in Paintsville. Due to being in the V.A. nursing home for four years, James never had an opportunity to meet the new pastor. The family was unable to fulfill James’s wish to have the funeral service at his home church. Services were conducted by Harry Frisby (a friend and neighbor) with a military service following at the Preston Funeral Home.
While thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say, you know how much you were loved. Tomorrow always starts without you, but your place was ready in Heaven and an angel called your name. We know God looked down at you, smiled and took you home, but we are not far apart for you are in our hearts.

Geneva Williams Rice
1917-2016
Geneva (Williams) Rice age 99 of Zeeland, formerly of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016.
Mrs. Rice was born in Paintsville, to Marion Frank and Stella (Van Hoose) Williams, where she spent her childhood. Following her marriage to Luther Rice, they moved to, and became long time residents of Fairborn, Ohio . She attended Fairborn United Missionary Church, Huber Heights Church of God, and Central Wesleyan Church during her time in Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther B. Rice (1986), daughter-in-law, Margie Kaye (Parker) Rice (1990), 2 grandchildren, Jason Parker (1975) and Lisa Parker (1964).
Surviving are her children, William Roger Rice of Kissimmee, FL and Stella (Rice) and Ted Parker of Zeeland; grandchildren, Becky (Rice) Hornsby, Bradley and Darlene Rice, Shelli (Rice) and Clayton Chesnutt, Joni (Parker) and Brian VanRhee, Julie (Parker) and Jeff Zylstra; nine great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; several beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 6-8:00pm at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland, Mich.
Services will be 1 pm, Saturday, June 4, 2016 in the Chapel at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, 8200 W. National Rd., New Carlisle, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland.

Anna Louise (Blair) Skervan
1923-2016
Anna Louise (Blair) Skerven passed away May 18, 2016 in Pensacola FL. She was born April 15, 1923 to Reese and Susie (Webb) Blair in Paintsville. She married Arbie Skerven February 2, 1946 in Dayton, OH. They lived in Wisconsin Rapids.
Anna is survived by her sons: Glenn (Julie), Roger (Dale), and Dean (Heather); grandchildren: Kimberly (Sara), Brian (Carly), Tricia (Keith), Adam, Princess (John), and Daniel (Nola); great-grandchildren: Gavin, Olivia, Georgia, and Benjamin; sister, Pansy; and brother, Dexter.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; sisters: Lillian, Neva, and Garnet; brothers, Richard and Glenn; and granddaughter, Lisa Marie.
Anna will be laid to rest at King Veterans cemetery beside her husband, Arbie. Trahan Family Funeral Home of Pensacola is in charge of arrangements.

Dinah Lynn Ratliff
1958-2016
Dinah Lynn Ratliff, age 58, passed away on Friday, June 1, at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, June 5, at the Calf Creek Community Church in Inez. Burial was at the Dalton Miller Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Elbert Dutton
1955-2016
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 3 p.m. at the Sitka Free Will Baptist Church for Elbert Dutton, 60, of Stambaugh, who passed away Monday, May 30 at his residence.
Burial will follow in the Johnson County Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Tom Raymond King
1927-2016
Tom Raymond King of Paintsville passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
He was born in Burdine, July 22, 1927 to the late Grethel Jordan and Henry Raymond King. Survived by his wife of 69 years, Billie Jean Scott King of Paintsville; one daughter: Pam (Garry) McKenzie; two grandchildren: Heather (Chad) Martin of Lexington and Brandon McKenzie of Fishers, Ind.; one sister: Phyllis Miller of Reisterstown, Md.; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also preceded in death by one sister, Thelma K. White.
Tom graduated from Meade Memorial High School in 1945. Enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in September of that same year, where he served in China and was honorably discharged in September 1946. Shortly after, he married Billie Jean Scott on April 4, 1947 in White Oak.
Tom worked for a few years at North East Coal Company before starting as a postal clerk in 1951 at the Paintsville Post Office. He served as Postmaster from 1967 until he retired in 1990. He was an active member of First Baptist Church where served as a Deacon, Treasurer and Secretary of his Sunday School class.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will held Thursday at 1p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Paintsville with Rev. Wayne Cornett officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville.
Family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Paintsville.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.

Blake Andrew Case
2008-2016
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 7, 2 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Blake Andrew Case, 7, of Lowmansville, who passed away Sunday July 3 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Blake was born Dec. 29, 2008, son of James and Amanda Honeycutt Case of Lowmansville. He was also preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Marvin Honeycutt; and his paternal grandfather, James Andy Case.
Surviving in addition to his parents are one sister, Madison Case, and one brother, Ethan Case, both of Lowmansville; his maternal grandmother, Patricia Ferguson; and his paternal grandmother, Donna Case.
The service was officiated by Joseph Hall, with burial in the Sam Sites cemetery at Boonscamp.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.
