Billie Spears
Billie Spears, 85, formerly of Hager Hill, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and sisters, Margaret, Mary Ruth, and Dodie. She is survived by her sister Anna, numerous nieces and one nephew.
Billie taught elementary school for a number of years in Van Lear before becoming active in the Hager Hill Homemakers, delighting her family and friends with homemade candy, cakes and crafts.
She was know for her love of country music and all things Appalachian. Bille will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Memorial donations may be made in Billie’s name to either St. Vincent Mission. P.O. Box 232, David, KY 41616 or Appalachian Hospice Care, P.O. Box 277, Hager Hill, KY 41222.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Glenda Gail ‘Moe’ Daniels
1963-2016
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 25, 1 p.m. at the Buffalo United Baptist Church for Glenda Gail “Moe” Daniels, 52, of Boons Camp, who passed away Sunday, Feb. 21 at Highland Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Burial will be in the Lakeview Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

James E. ‘Jimmy’ Laney
1963-2016
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 22, 1 p.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for James E. “Jimmy” Laney, 52, of Norwalk, Ohio, who passed away Thursday, Feb. 18 at his residence.
Burial was in the Butcher Family cemetery at Boons Camp.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Milo Webb
1938-2016
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 21, 1 p.m. at the Tom’s Creek United Baptist Church for Milo Webb, 77, of Louisburg, N. C., formerly of Johnson County, who passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17 in North Carolina.
Burial was in the Johnson County Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Anna Lee Music VanHoose
1917-2016
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 13, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Anna Lee Music VanHoose, 98, of River, formerly of Logan, Ohio, who passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9 at her residence.
Mrs. VanHoose was born Feb. 14, 1917 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Jim Music and Martha VanHoose Music. She was a member of the Eastern Star, and a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Willie Green VanHoose; step-father, Lewis Isaac; one son, Doug VanHoose; four daughters, Mary Louise Payne, Hazel VanHoose, Mary Opal VanHoose, and Sarah Irene VanHoose; one brother, Ernest James Music; three sisters, Okie VanHoose, Beulah VanHoose and Opal Roller; and three grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons, Charles Edward VanHoose of Ohio, Randall VanHoose of Tennessee, and Jerry VanHoose of River; three daughters, Joyce O’Hara and Shelby VanHoose, both of West Virginia, and Alice VanHoose of Tennessee; and 22 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
An Eastern Star service was conducted 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12.
The service was officiated by Tad Miller, with burial in the Clark-Castle cemetery at Nippa.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Georgia Louise Spurlock Williams
1934-2016
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 19, 12 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Georgia Louise Spurlock Williams, 81, of Paintsville, who passed away Saturday, Feb. 13 at Riverview Health Card Center in Prestonsburg.
Mrs. Williams was born July 11, 1934 in Lawrence County, daughter of the late Fredrick Spurlock and Madge Miller Spurlock. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene Spurlock, Roy Fredrick Spurlock, and Robert Spurlock; three sisters, Pearl Crace, Dora Caldwell, Blanche Shell; and one great-grandchild.
Surviving are two daughters, Lana (David) Wicker of Prestonsburg, and Jennifer (Donald) Anderson of Wittensville; one sister, Linda Lang of Westland, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Tabatha (Billy) Pritchett, Vincent (Rachel) Matteini, Donald Jr. (Heather) Anderson, Lelia (William) Jenks, Bryan (Jackie) Anderson, Michaela (Alfred) Zermeno, Monica (Mark) Moseley, Kyle (Jessica) Wicker; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The service will be officiated by Tommy Reed, with burial to follow in the Gethsemane Gardens at Prestonsburg.
Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Phyllis Jean Ford
1936-2016
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, 11 a.m. at the Preston Funeral Home chapel for Phyllis Jean Ford, 79, of Staffordsville, who passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16.
Burial will be in the Blevins Family cemetery at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Denver Lee Wells
1947-2016
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 13, 2 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Denver Lee Wells, 68, of Paintsville, who passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9 at his residence.
Mr. Wells was born Aug. 17, 1947 in Johnson County, son of the late Denver and Nellie Sparks Wells. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Billy Ray Wells.
Surviving are his wife, Rebecca Franklin Wells of Paintsville; two daughters, Terri Profitt and Tammy Wright, both of Paintsville; one brother, Charles Edward Wells of Wabash, Ind.; one sister, Linda Sue Stapleton of Tutor Key; and two grandchildren, Donovan Wright and Sydnee Profitt.
The service was officiated by Rick Ratliff, with burial in the Franklin Family cemetery at Concord.
Chapter 18 DAV conducted military services following the funeral.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Georgia Louise Spurlock Williams
1934-2016
