Sharon A. Fields
1958-2011
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 5, 11 a.m. at the Van Lear Free Will Baptist Church for Sharon A. Fields, 53, of Van Lear, who passed away Thursday, Nov. 3 at her residence.
Mrs. Fields was born April 15, 1958 in Johnson County, daughter of Corrie Rowland Gwinn of Hager Hill and the late Robert Gwinn. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Dean Fields.
Surviving in addition to her mother are two sons, Shawn Michael (Christina) Gwinn of Paintsville and Ronald Dean (Tabitha) Fields II of Martin; one step-daughter, Brenda Fields of Stambaugh; two brothers, Jason Gwinn of Hager Hill, and William Joseph Gwinn of Zebulon; two sisters, Carrie (Paul) Fairchild of Paintsville, and Linda (Rick) Simpkins of Leon, W.Va.; and 10 grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Thomas Rowland, with burial in the Fields Family cemetery at Van Lear.
Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Virginia Glidewell
1928-2011
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 4, 2 p.m. at the Van Lear Free Will Baptist Church for Virginia Glidewell, 83, of Van Lear, who passed away Monday, Oct. 31.
Mrs. Glidewell was born Sept. 16, 1928 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Lonnie and Lavada Collins Gullett. She was a retired nurses aide.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Glidewell; and three sons, Lonnie, Roy Lee and James Spradlin.
Surviving are eight daughters, Gertie “Dodie” Belkoski of Aberdeen, Wash., Tammy Blackburn of Mt. Sterling, Mildred Davis of Hager Hill, Naomi Jorgenson of Randall, Wash., Julie Landman of Carlisle, Sammy Perkins of Powell, Tenn., Della Spradlin of Meally, and Justine Templeton of Van Lear; twin sister, Gertrude Bowen of Salyersville; 40 grandchildren, and several great- and -great-great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the Gullett cemetery at East Point.
Arrangements under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Charles “Charlie” McKenzie
1931-2012
Charles A. “Charlie” McKenzie, age 80, of Dayton passed away January 17, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Cloma McKenzie; and brothers-in-law, Dave Pelphrey and Garry Cantrell.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Darlene McKenzie; sons, Mike (Cressie) and Thomas (Betty); grandchildren, Charlie, Theron, K’Cie “Kenny”, Kimberly Burton, Amanda Rachae’l, Amanda Danielle, and Michael; great-grandchildren, Mattie and Gabriel; siblings, James O. (Betty), Phyllis (Jack) Pelphrey, Betty Pelphrey, Donlyn Cantrell, and Gail (Danny) Spradlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlie served his country in the United States Army. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, and father who will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. in Dayton.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Hospice of Dayton.

Easter Leah Lewis Ward
1928-2012
Funeral services will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home for Easter Leah Lewis Ward, 83, of Staffordsville, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mrs. Ward was born April 8, 1928 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Robie and Beulah Saunders Lewis. She was a cafeteria worker with the Carl D. Perkins Rehabilitation Center.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ward; three brothers, Joe, Fontaine, and Orville Lewis; and one sister, Denah Kazee.
Surviving are one daughter, Shelia Blanton of Staffordsville; two grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
The service will be officiated by Ronnie Spriggs and Jimmy Price, with burial in the Staffordsville Church cemetery at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Virginia A. “Ginny” Petee Smith Brown
1934-2012
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, 2 p.m. at the Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home in New Carlisle, Ohio, for Virginia A. “Ginny” Smith, 77, of Medway, Ohio, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 15.
Mrs. Brown was born Dec. 12, 1934, in New Boston, Ohio, daughter of the late Everett L. and Amy E. Hamilton Petee. She was a 1952 graduate of Jeffersonville High School; and second vice-president and director of the Springfield District Woman’s Bowling Association.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Smith; and one brother, Robert Petee.
Surviving are her husband, Dorris “Brownie” Brown; mother-in-law, Elaine Brown of Asa Creek; six children, Debbie (Greg) Krouskop of Medway, Cindy Evans of Waynesville, Cindy (Jerry) Gracy of New Carlisle, Doug Smith of Boyne City, Mich., Tim (Lori) Brown of New Carlisle, and Karen Smith of Medway; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Chaplin Randy Reed, with internment at the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements under the direction of the Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home of New Carlisle.

Fannie Louise Yates
Fannie Louise Yates, age 74, of Springboro, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012. She was preceded in death by her loving son, Richard Wayne Yates Sr.; parents, Jesse and Elsie Boyd; one brother, Bobby Boyd; and two sisters, Irene Boyd and Helen Carroll.
Fannie is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Richard “Dick” Warner Yates Jr.; two children, Gregory A. (Susan) Yates and Teresa Yates (“Perk”) Perkins; grandchildren, Kenneth R. Yates, David M. Yates, Brittany L. L. Yates, Richard Wayne Yates Jr., and Jesse Warner Yates; great-granddaughter, Alexandra Catherine (Yates) Montgomery; siblings, Mary Kallas, Cora Sue Whiting, Kenneth Boyd, Roy Cook, Ronnie Meek, John Paul (Dee) Tussey; sister-in-law, Audrey Boyd, and many other loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 500 E. 2nd St. (St. Rt. 73) Franklin, OH 45005. Granville Butcher
1929-2012
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 19, 10 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville for Granville Butcher, 82, of Van Lear, who passed away Monday, Jan. 16 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mr. Butcher was born Sept. 15, 1929 in Johnson County, son of the late Melvin and Ida Bowling Butcher. He was a farmer.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mamie Butcher; and four brothers, Arnold, Hubert, Allen and Ira Butcher.
Surviving are three brothers, Elmer and Everett Butcher, both of Van Lear, and Bernard Butcher of Wabash, Ind.; and two sisters, Maggie Moore and Virginia Triplett, both of Wabash.
The service was officiated by Terry Conley, with burial in the Butcher Family cemetery at Van Lear.

Ruth Russell
1921-2012
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 20, 1 p.m. at the East Point Church of Christ for Ruth Russell, 90, of West Van Lear, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17 at her residence.
Mrs. Russell was born March 8, 1921 in Floyd County, daughter of the late Sam and Easter Garrett Wallen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Luther Russell.
Surviving are one daughter, Cheri Davis of Van Lear; two sons, Luther Russell Jr. of West Van Lear, and Roger Dean Russell of Paintsville; two sisters, Shirley Jones of Corbin, and Clara Deloris Roy of Satellite; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Aaron Russell Davis, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.
