James J. Mollett
1923-2010
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 4, 11 a.m. at the Auxier Free Will Baptist Church for James J. Mollett, 87, of Auxier, who passed away Monday, Nov. 1 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
He was born Jan. 31, 1923 in Johnson County, son of the late Jim and Laura Belle Crum Mollett.
He was a retired miner with Island Creek Coal Company, and a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Genetta Crum Mollett.
Surviving are two sons, Keith Mollett of Staffordsville, and Alvin Mollett of Lebanon, Va.; two daughters, Rosetta Bayes of East Point, and Karen Wicker of Prestonsburg; four brothers, Jimmy Lee Mollett of Mansfield, Ohio, Paul Douglas Mollett of Wabash, Ind., Larry Mollett of Lowmansville, and Bill Mollett of Sitka; one half-brother, Dennis Mollett of Boons Camp; one step-brother, Eugene Wells of Xenia, Ohio; four half-sisters, Betty Hazel Tackett of River, Diane Staniford of Paintsville, Mary Jane Ward of Williamsport, and Rita Hall of Kentucky; one step-sister, Shirlene Meek of Martin; and several grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Tommy Reed and Bobby Joe Spencer, with burial in the Highland Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Louise Maynard
1941-2010
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1 p.m. at the Golden Springs Free Will Baptist Church, for Louise Maynard, 69, of Pilgrim, who passed away Saturday, Oct. 30 at her residence.
She was born June 15, 1941 in Wayne, W.Va., daughter of the late Pete and Rosie Calhoun Justice.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Marlene Allen.
Surviving are her husband, Howard Maynard of Pilgrim; five sons, Claude Jude and Johnny Maynard, both of Warfield, Howard Maynard Jr. of Crum, W.Va., Clifford Maynard of Inez, and Ralph Maynard of Pilgrim; five daughters, Diana Jude of Lovely, Lisa Hall of East Berlin, Pa., Teresa Muncy of Crum, Joyce Pauley of Pilgrim, and Patricia Robinson, of South Portsmouth, Ky.; 25 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Ken Allen, with burial in the Jude-Fletcher cemetery at Pilgrim.
Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Inez.

Robert Fletcher Jr.
1934-2010
Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 31, 1 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Robert Fletcher Jr., 76, of Lovely, who passed away Thursday, Oct. 28 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born Apr. 4, 1934 in Martin County, son of the late Robert J. and Isabelle Staton Fletcher.
Surviving are his wife, Fayetta Fletcher of Lovely; two sons, Rush Walker (Sherry) Fletcher of Inez, and James Robert (Sophia) Fletcher of Matewan; two daughters, Elizabeth Avery of Inez and Grace Chandler of Paintsville; four step-daughters, Dee (Ricky) Moore and Dorothy (RIcky) Stacy, both of Lovely, Brenda Kitsos of Ohio, and Lavanda (Sam) Martin of Warfield; one brother, Boonie (Linda) Fletcher of Tutor Key; two sisters, Susie Mahon of Milo and Doris (Frank) Jarrell of Buchannon; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Tim McCoy and Denny Johnson, with burial in the Fletcher-Blankenship cemetery at Inez.
Arrangement under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Inez.

Victoria Weddington Wilhelm
1916-2011
Victoria Weddington Wilhelm, 95, of Tipp City, Ohio passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011. The last three years she resided with Melissa (Shane) Fitch and family, her great-niece and loving care giver.
She formerly lived near Brandt, Ohio. She was born May 31, 1916 in Denver, Ky., to Lee and Dora Blair Weddington, both deceased. The attended grade school at Buckhorn, Asa Creek, Ky. She graduated from Withrow High School in Cincinnati, Ohio while living with her older sister. She received her college education at Morehead State, Ky. Victoria married L. J. (Mike) Wilhelm in December 1954. He preceded her in death in 1981. Her only son, Jerry E. Maloney is also deceased. He lost his life in an automobile accident at the age of 21 in 1964. Victoria was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Fairborn, Ohio since 1954. While living in Kentucky, starting as a young child she attended Liberty Baptist Church in Denver. She retired from Bethel Local School in 1978 after 25 years of service. Victoria started her teaching career in a one room school in Johnson County, Ky. All her brothers and sisters are deceased. Fannie (Wiley) Hitchcock, Miami, Fla., Norma (Herbert) Blair, Virgil (Leona) Weddington, Gladys (Homer) Scott, Willie (Jewell) Weddington of New Carlisle, Ohio, Lucille (Edgar) Williams of Springfield, Ohio, Florence (Albert) Blanton and Herschel (Ethel) Weddington of Leander, Ky.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and numerous friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m., Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Fairborn, 1167 Highview Drive, Fairborn, OH 45324 with funeral services at 11 a.m. in the church.
Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery. Arrangements by the Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home, New Carlisle, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Fairborn.

Cheryl Lynn Risk
1950-2011
Frankfort – Services for Cheryl Lynn Castle Risk, 60 yrs., will be conducted from Harrod Brothers Funeral Home at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2011, with Rev. Dawn Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 29, 2011, from 4-8p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Risk passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011, at her home in Frankfort.
Cheryl was born October 13, 1950, in Johnson Co., Ky., and was the former Financial Secretary of First United Methodist and First Christian Church, both in Frankfort, Ky..
She is survived by her husband, George Clay Risk; two daughters, Dr. Heather Michelle Risk and Courtney Diane Risk; mother, Vina Harris Castle; and four brothers, Charles, Gary, Don, and Tom Castle. She was preceded in death by her father, Carmel “Coots” Castle.
In addition to her four brothers, Chris Castle and Jason Perry will also serve as Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of Cheryl to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Fwy. Ste. 250, Dallas, TX 75244.
Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home; condolences may be shared via the online guest book at www.harrodbrothersfuneralhome.com.

Odice “Cat” Ellis Branham
1928-2011
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 29, 3 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Odice “Cat” Ellis Branham, 82, of Paintsville, who passed away Monday, June 27 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mr. Branham was born July 7, 1928 in Johnson County, son of the late Turner and Sara Elizabeth Kirk Branham. He was retired from Farmer’s Supply.
Surviving are one son, Vencil Lee Branham of Florida; three daughters, Margie Spears of Staffordsville, Mary Jane Banks and Tina Banks, both of Franklin, Ohio; one brother, Albert Branham of Franklin; one sister, Martha Jane Selvage of Inez; 28 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Larry Blair, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Fannie May
1918-2011
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 28, 10 a.m. at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey, Ohio, for Fannie May, 92, of Vanlue, Ohio, who passed away Saturday, June 25 at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay, Ohio.
Mrs. May was born Oct. 14, 1918 at Asa Creek, daughter of the late John G. and Mary J. Blair Fairchild. She was a member of the Stoney Ridge United Baptist Church of Carey; retired from Harris Corporation; and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John May Jr.; three brothers, Cecil, Prater, and Bobby Fairchild; and one sister, Lexie Phillips.
Surviving are two sons, James (Shirley) May and Steve (Sharon) May; and one daughter, Betty (John) Lee, all of Vanlue; one sister, Ethel Hannah of Vanlue;10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
The service was officiated by the Rev. Neil Norheim, with burial in the Zion Bloom cemetery near Vanlue.
Arrangements under the direction of the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home of Carey.

Carl Castle
1933-2011
Services will be held Saturday, June 25, 1 p.m. at the RIchards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home in Springfield, Ohio, for Carl Castle, 77, of Springfield, who passed away Tuesday, June 21 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Castle was born Dec. 14, 1933 in Johnson County, son of the late Monroe and Nolda Castle. He was a retired welder with William Bayley Company.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Zona Castle of Springfield; three daughters, Marsha Yvonne Cordle of Lexington, Cynthia (Steve) Smith of Dry Ridge, and Lorraine Flaker of Gold Hill, Ore.; four sons, William C. (Terry) Flaker and Jonathan P. Flaker, both of Springfield, Carl Shawn Castle of Wilmington, N.C., and Scott Aaron Castle of Midland, Ala.; three sisters, Garnett (Paul) Ratliff of Staffordsville, Clora June (Doug) Fitch of Springfield, and Louise Melvin of Paintsville; one brother, Lester Martin (Cathy) Castle of Bloomington, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Pastor Steve Smith, with entombment in the Rose Hill Mausoleum.
Arrangements under the direction of the Richard, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home of Springfield.
