Edna Ward
1920-2010
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Edna Ward, 90, of Boons Camp, who passed away Wednesday, Sept. 15 at her residence.
She was born Feb. 12, 1920 in Johnson County, daughter of the late William Hensley “Buddy” and Loutisha Duty Perkey. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Greenville Ward; one daughter, Mary Frances Adams; one brother, Frank Perkey; and five sisters, Flora Music, Flossie Houston, Hazel McGinnis, Gladys Mollette and Opal Daniels.
Surviving are two sons, Phillip Roger “Phil” (Glenna) Sammons of Danville, and Ronald “Ron” (Sally) Ward of Boons Camp; two daughters, Betty Ruth (Jack) Price of Warsaw, Ind., and Wanda Lee (Cornell) Short of Greenwood, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by B. Joe Hill, with burial following in the Lakeview Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Anna J. Bryant
1939-2010
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 18 at 11 a.m. at the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home Inez Chapel for Anna J. Bryant, 71, of Inez, who passed away on Wednesday, September 15 at the Martin County Health Care Facility.
Services will be conducted by Lonnie Smith and Jack Jarrell with burial to follow in the Slone-DeLong cemetery in Debord.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Arrangements under the direction of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.

Jerry Drew Baldwin
1958-2010
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 16, 11 a.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Jerry Drew Baldwin, 52, of Hager Hill, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 12 in Brinkley, Arkansas.
He was born July 8, 1958 in Johnson County, son of James Earl and Retta Feril Blair Baldwin, of Hager Hill.
Surviving in addition to his parents, are one son, Jerry Drew (Tiffany) Baldwin II; and six brothers, James Michael, Dwight Dean, Larry Keith, Lonald David, Terry Lynn and Anthony Paris Baldwin, all of Hager Hill.
The service will be officiated by Freddie Salyers, Gene May and David Allen Baldwin, with burial in the Brown cemetery at Hager Hill.
Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Clarence Willard Murray
1934-2010
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 12, 11 a.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Clarence Willard Murray, 76, who passed away Thursday, Sept. 9 at Prestonsburg Health Care.
He was born July 20, 1934 in Johnson County, son of the late Winfield and Luda Estep Murray. He was an equipment operator with the Johnson County Road Dept., and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Surviving are one son, Cecil Murray of Winchester; four brothers, Charles and Fred Murray, both of Sitka, Carmel Murray of Ostranad, Ohio, and Paul Murray of Middletown, Ohio; one sister, Elwanda Ratliff of River; and two grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Herb Arms, with burial in the Whitaker cemetery at River.
Arrangements under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Elbert Blackburn Jr.
1928-2010
Funeral services were held Sept. 1, 11 a.m. at the Gulnare Free Will Baptist Church for Elbert Blackburn Jr., 81, of Pikeville, formerly of Paintsville, who passed away Saturday, August 28 at his residence.
He was born October 13, 1928 in Floyd County, son of the late Elbert and Antha Lowe Blackburn. He was a truck driver and a member of the Gulnare Free Will Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Justine Blackburn and Mageline Endicott.
Surviving are his wife, Justine Runyon Blackburn of Pikeville; two sons, John Henry (Lenore) Blackburn of Blue River, and Bert (Lisa) Blackburn of Hazard; four daughters, Carol Osborne of Flat Gap, Lisa (George) Thomas of West Liberty, Sandra (Jerry) Clark of Paintsville, Jennie (Don) Kendrick of Canton, Ohio; one brother, Eugene Blackburn of Prestonsburg; three sisters, Margaret Burchett and Joann Garrett, both of Floyd County, and Nelva Johnston of New York; and 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Melvin Thompson, Greg Stanley, and Barry Clark, with burial in the Taylor cemetery on Lower Johns Creek.
Arrangements under the direction of the Community Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Donald Grimm
1944-2010
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, 1 p.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Donald Grimm, 66, of Flat Gap, who passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 8, 1944 in Kenova, W.Va., son of the late Roy and Cora Williams Grimm. He was a truck driver with Meade Logging, and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Emma Hughes Grimm; one son, Matthew Grimm of Flat Gap; two brothers, Charlie Grimm of Flat Gap, and William Kenneth Grimm of Catlettsburg; one sister, Jean Bayes of Flat Gap; and one granddaughter.
The service will be officiated by Larry Meadows, with burial in the Roy L. Grimm cemetery at Flat Gap.

Elijah Mollett Jr.
1938-2010
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville, for Elijah Mollett Jr., 71, of Lexington, formerly of West Van Lear, who passed away Monday, Sept. 6 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
He was born Dec. 8, 1938 in Floyd County, son of the late Elijah and Alma Daniels Mollett. He was a housing construction worker.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Dorton Mollett.
Surviving are one son, Gareld (Debbie) Mollett of Lexington; one brother, Lawrence Mullett of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Carrie Mullins of Floyd County; and one grandson.
The service will be officiated by James Kelly Caudill, with burial in the Lakeview Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.

Frances Susan Jones Watkins
1924-2010
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 11, 11 a.m. at the Bardstown Junction Baptist Church of Shepherdsville for Frances Susan Jones Watkins, 86, of Staffordsville, who passed away Friday, Sept. 3 at Mountain Manor Nursing Home of Paintsville.
She was born March 26, 1924 in Alexandria, Va., daughter of the late David and Susan Strozier Jones. She was a realtor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Lee Watkins.
Surviving are one daughter, Susan (Bruce) Gilbert of Paintsville; one sister, Ana DeBoef of Everett, Wash.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Jerry Scott, with burial in the Miller-Watkins cemetery at Shepherdsville.
