Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 20, 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Paintsville, Ky., for Joyce Ann Meade, 70, of Van Lear, Ky., who passed away Sunday, Dec. 18 at her residence.
Mrs. Meade was born Nov. 1, 1935 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of the late Hershel and Marie Tuzy McAllister.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Thomas Meade of Van Lear; two daughters, Tina Music of Huntersville, N.C., and Pam White of Van Lear; one sister, Betty Lou Burke of Virginia; and two grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Father Hoppenjans, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Ky.
Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Marie VanHoose Green
1919-2005
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 18, 11 a.m. at the Georges Creek United Baptist Church at Lowmansville, Ky., for Marie VanHoose Green, 86, of Lowmansville, who passed away Thursday, Dec. 15 at her residence.
Mrs. Green was born July 24, 1919 in Lawrence County, Ky., daughter of the late Oscar and Lizzie Boyd VanHoose. She was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Chester Green.
Surviving are one son, James K. Green of Hager Hill, Ky., and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Rutherford Blair, Carlos Preston and Paul Castle, with burial in the Green Family cemetery at Lowmansville.

Numia L. Bradley Pickle
1929-2005
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 16, 1 p.m. at the Mayo United Methodist Church in Paintsville, Ky., for Numia L. Bradley Pickle, 76, of Paintsville, who passed away Monday, Dec. 12 at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
Mrs. Pickle was born March 7, 1929 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of the late Lewis M. and Almeda Shephard Bradley. She was a retired U.S. Postal Service supervisor and a board member of the Paintsville Housing Authority. She was also preceded in death by one son, James Eric Pickle and one daughter, Linda Kay Pickle.
Surviving are her husband, James E. Pickle of Paintsville; two daughters, Delores A. and Sherry Pickle, both of Paintsville; one sister, Mary Martha Schell of Flint, Mich.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The service was officiated by John Boyd, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Ky.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Vera Mabel Wright Wheeler
1924-2005
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 20, 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Paintsville, Ky., for Vera Mabel Wright Wheeler, 81, of Paintsville, who passed away Sunday, Dec. 18 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Ky.
Mrs. Wheeler was born Sept. 7, 1924 in Pike County, Ky., daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Ida Wallen Wright. She was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Wheeler.
Surviving are one daughter, Lynne (Mark) Baldwin of Paintsville; one brother, Victor Wright of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Chessie Cornette of Pikeville, Ky., and Edith Burke of Nancy, Ky.; and two granddaughters.
The service was officiated by Terry Reffett and Don Barnett, with burial in the Mayo cemetery at Paintsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Helen Ainonette Rice Belcher
1928-2006
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, 1 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Paintsville, Ky., for Helen Ainonette Rice Belcher, 77, of Stambaugh, Ky., who passed away Wednesday, April 12 at the Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, Ky.
Mrs. Belcher was born Dec. 17, 1928 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of the late John Haden Rice and Nellie Louise Stam-baugh. She was a retired school teacher. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Rosa Nell Rose.
Surviving are her husband, Jonah Belcher of Stambaugh; one son, Chris (Dena) Belcher of Stambaugh; one sister, Cecilia Ann Picklesimer of Paintsville; and two grandsons, Joshua Ryan and Jared Dalton Belcher.
The service will be officiated by Wesley D. Stedtefeld, with burial in the Belcher-Rice cemetery at Stambaugh.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Shirley B. Conley
1918-2006
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 14, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Shirley B. Conley, 87, of Wittensville, Ky., who passed away Tuesday, April 11 at her residence.
Mrs. Conley was born Nov. 27, 1918 in Lawrence County, Ky., daughter of the late Daniel G. and Lydia Borders Brown. She was a retired school teacher. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tom Walter Conley; four sisters, Mabel Brown Daniels, Kathleen Brown, Ida Mae Brown, and Marvel Brown Boyd; and one brother, Daniel Brown Jr.
Surviving are one son, Jerry Layne (Sue) Daniels of Wittensville, two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and one step-granddaughter.
The service will be officiated by Johnny Estep, with burial in the Border Family cemetery at Ulysses, Ky.

William ‘Bill’ Charles Browning
1953-2006
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, 11 a.m. at the Highland Memorial Park for William “Bill” Charles Brown-ing, 53, of Lowmansville, Ky., who passed away Thursday, April 13 at his residence.
Mr. Browning was born Feb. 22, 1953 in Martin, Ky., son of the late Bill and Betty Jo Browning. He was co-owner of the Bargain Barn Auction House in Lowmansville, and a member of the Kentucky Auctioneer Association.
Surviving are his wife, Connie Browning of Lowmansville; two sons, Willliam Todd Browning of Price, Ky., and Duane Case of Sparta, Tenn.; one sister, Katie B. Woody of Tutor Key, Ky.; two grandchildren, Savannah and Christopher Cade; one nephew, Chad Woody; and two great-nephews, Chad Dalton and Logan Chase Woody.
The service will be officiated by Ted Dawson and Bob Collins, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Ky.

Dennie Allen Daniels Sr.
1950-2006
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 20, 11 a.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Dennie Allen Daniels Sr., 55, of Whitehouse, Ky., who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18 at his residence.
Mr. Daniels was born Nov. 11, 1950 in Johnson County, Ky., son of the late Wiley and Hattie Adams Daniels.
Surviving are his wife, Deborah Lee Daniels of Whitehouse; one son, Dennie Allen Daniels Jr. of Whitehouse; two step-sons, Jason Laney of Whitehouse and Steve Laney of Somerset, Ky.; one daughter, Hattie Ilene Daniels of Louisa, Ky.; two brothers, Jim Daniels of Columbus, Ohio, and Harold Daniels of Boons Camp, Ky.; and three grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Sam Harvey, with burial in the Ratliff-Lemaster cemetery at Whitehouse.
