Brenda K. Williams
1953-2017
Brenda K. Williams was born July 22, 1953 at the old Paintsville Hospital in Paintsville, Kentucky. She was the middle daughter of the late Sherwood and Christine Williams of Flat Gap, Kentucky, where she spent the last 17 years of her life. Brenda entered eternal life on October 24, 2017 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky due to complications from pneumonia. She was 64 years old.
She is survived by her three children, Andraya Preston and her husband Guthrey of Oil Springs, William Nichols of Flat Gap, and Alena Hughes and her husband Chad of Staffordsville; two grandchildren, Rebekah and Dylan Preston of Oil Springs; two sisters, Sharon McCarty and her late husband James of Fallsburg, and Pamela Parker and her husband Ronnie of Flat Gap, and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
On October 15, 1967 at the age of 14, Brenda was baptized and became a member of Cold Springs United Baptist Church in Flat Gap, Kentucky. She loved her Savior Jesus Christ beyond measure and spent much of her life devoted to worshiping and praising Him. For the last few years, she regularly attended New Generation Worship Center in Salyersville, and spent considerable time in The Word and in prayer for her family and others each day. If you wanted someone to pray for or with you, everyone knew Brenda was the person to ask. She would immediately drop everything she was doing and pray the most heartfelt and anointed prayer. She had a gift for making you feel incredibly comfortable and at ease in her presence and was a light to everyone she ever met.
After several years of being a homemaker and holding various odd jobs, Brenda entered the workforce at Walmart in August of 1988 when the original Paintsville store opened. The red headed lady at the jewelry counter was known by most everyone in the tri-county area, and loved by many. In March 2003, Brenda took a few years off of work, then started her own business of cleaning houses for various people around Johnson County. She loved her clients and enjoyed getting to know their families and often times became part of their family.
Brenda leaves behind a legacy of unmatched love, kindness, and integrity. Her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life, and the relationship with her two sisters was extremely special and defined much of who she was. Her connection with her family is a bond that cannot be broken by death. Her relationship with Jesus and faith in God was an inspiration to many and will continue to inspire well beyond her home going.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams cemetery at Flat Gap.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also all who have longed for His appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
