James L. Vinet Jr., a retired employee of Southern Pacific Railroad & Transport, died Monday at Metairie Healthcare. He was 89. Mr. Vinet was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He served in the Army National Guard. He was a former president of the Passenger Club. Survivors include two daughters, Joanne V. LaCour and Jacquelyn V. Lopez; two brothers, Roland and Val Vinet; three sisters, Yelva Raymond, Mildred Walz and Ida Mae Huard; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A funeral will be held today at noon at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3.

STARKS, SEDENDER

Sedender Starks, a homemaker, died Monday at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital. She was 82. Mrs. Starks was born in Troy, Ala., and lived in New Orleans for the past 50 years. Survivors include a son, James Haynes Sr.; two sisters, Nellie Mae Jackson of Cleveland and Eddie Mae John of Dallas; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 1 p.m. at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave. Visitation will begin at noon. Burial will be in Restlawn Park Cemetery.

CLAYTON, TRENELL DELISA

Trenell Delisa Clayton, a teacher at Babykeepers Day Care No. 1, died Thursday of complications from hypertension at Memorial Medical Center. She was 29. Mrs. Clayton was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She attended McDonogh No. 35 High School. She was a member of Pure Light Baptist Church. She was a coach for the Commisky Park Cheerleaders. Survivors include her husband, Gregory Clayton; her father, Cornell Jackson; her mother, Runell Jackson; her grandmother, Pearl Richard; two sons, Chris and Nicholas Clayton; two daughters, Geneka Jackson and Tanisha Clayton; two brothers, Cornell Jackson Jr. and Darryl Bynum; and a sister, Chanell Henry. A funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park. Rhodes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

SCHOWALTER, SR., JOHN MACREYNOLDS

John MacReynolds Schowalter Sr., a refrigeration engineer, died Saturday of heart failure at his home. He was 72. Mr. Schowalter was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for many years. He was a graduate of Loyola University, where he received a bachelor of science degree in commercial science. He was a veteran of the Navy, where he served as a radioman during the Korean war. Survivors include his wife, Joycelyn LaBiche Schowalter; two sons, John M. and Paul O. Schowalter; two daughters, Ann Hicks and Karen F. Schowalter; a brother, Col. Edward R. Schowalter Jr.; and six grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Garden of Memories. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LOMBARDO, LUCILLE AGALICE BLAKESLEY

Lucille Agalice Blakesley Lombardo, a homemaker, died Friday at Crosby Memorial Hospital in Picayune, Miss. She was 80. Mrs. Lombardo was born in New Orleans and lived in Picayune for the past nine years. Survivors include a son, Melvin M. Vicknair Jr.; a daughter, Suzanne Noble; a sister, Shirley Mae Blakesley; three grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Bernard Memorial, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.

BROWN, DAVID COLBURN SR.

David Colburn Brown Sr., a sous-chef at the Audubon Institute, died Tuesday at Charity Hospital of a gunshot wound. He was 22. Mr. Brown was born in Slidell and lived in New Orleans for many years. Survivors include two sons, Steven Taylor and David Colburn Brown Jr.; a daughter, Kateline Elizabeth Brown; his father, David Brown of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; his mother, Carvelle Brown; and a brother, Eldon Ashley Brown of Longview, Texas. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Burgetown Cemetery, Carriere, Miss. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home in Picayune, Miss.

WEBB, GLEN ROLLIN
06/08/02

Glen Rollin Webb, a carpenter at Zirtec Industry, died Wednesday of cancer at University Hospital. He was 56. Mr. Webb was a lifelong resident of Slidell. Survivors include his wife, Elaine St. Romaina Webb; two sons, James and John Webb; three daughters, Melissa Blackwell, Shannon West and Rebecca Williams; four sisters, Evelyn Haas, Mary Newman, Barbara Jones and Gloria Reeves; and 10 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

LeBANKS, MILTON

Milton LeBanks, a laborer, died May 28 of undetermined causes at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital. He was 36. Mr. LeBanks was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a member of Greater St. Stephen's Full Gospel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Miriam Ann Edwards LeBanks; his mother, Delores Smith; five brothers, Edward, Nolan, Michael, Glin and Gary LeBanks; two sisters, Joyce LeBanks Dorest and Barbara LeBanks; and a stepdaughter, Jeannine Lewis. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Greater St. Stephen's Full Gospel Baptist Church, 5600 Read Blvd. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery. D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Darlene Anne Raphiel Spencer, a former food plant manager, died Monday of a heart attack at Barton County Memorial Hospital. She was 52. Mrs. Spencer was born in New Orleans and lived in Folsom before moving to Lamar, Mo., 2½ years ago. She was manager of Smith Food Plant in Lamar and a member of the Barton County Eagles Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Larry Bryan Spencer; a son, Frank Mancuso; a daughter, Sharon Myers; a stepdaughter, Shannon Plank; a stepson, Shane Spencer; her mother, Myrtle M. Raphiel; three sisters, Peggy A. Gatlin, Linnea J. Knuesel and Lisa M. Gould; and eight grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at noon at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Pinecrest Mausoleum.

ANDERSON, JOHN III

John Anderson III, a jeweler, died May 23 of a heart attack in Las Vegas. He was 46. Mr. Anderson was born in New Orleans and lived in Riverside, Calif., for 15 years. Survivors include two sons, Jela and John Anderson IV; a daughter, Janéa Anderson; his father, John Anderson Jr.; his mother, Joyce Murray; four brothers, Terance, Lance, Kermith and Kevin Anderson; and two sisters, Rhonda Anderson and Debra Anderson-Goins. A funeral will be held Monday at noon at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1923 St. Philip St. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3. Professional Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

DAVIS, WALLACE THOMAS SR.

Wallace Thomas Davis Sr., retired owner of Middleway Cleaners, died Sunday of heart failure at his home. He was 78. Mr. Davis was born in Gretna and lived in Harvey. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7307 and William D. White Masonic Order No. 408. Survivors include three sons, Wallace T. Davis Jr., Glenn L. Davis Sr. and Louis J. Davis; and three grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 1 p.m. at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 West Bank Expressway in Harvey. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna.

Ruby M. Younger, a retired glass worker with Anchor Hocking, died May 8 at home. She was 79. Mrs. Younger was born in Bristol, Va., and lived in Slidell for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Schindler and Carol Turner; a brother, Charles Timmons; a sister, June Bevans; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. WILLIAMS, THE REV. WINNIE JAMES

The Rev. Winnie James Williams, a retired employee of the Louisiana State Department of Labor, died Monday of kidney failure at Lifecare Hospital. She was 62. The Rev. Williams was born in Tylertown, Miss., and lived in New Orleans for the past 45 years. She was a member of Life Center Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral and had ministered at many churches. Survivors include her husband, Willard Williams Sr.; three sons, James E. Ross of Texarkana, Texas, and Gerald F. and Walter J. Ross Jr.; three daughters, Irene Matthews of Oak Park, Minn., and Eunice P. and Stephanie Ross; a brother, John E. Hammond of Bogalusa; a sister, Geraldine Bailey of Harvey; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A wake will be held today at 8 p.m. at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Life Center Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral, One Life Center Drive, Algiers. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

ROBERTSON, LEOLA CLARK

Leola Clark Robertson, a homemaker, died Wednesday at her home. She was 75. Mrs. Robertson was born in Morganza and lived in New Orleans for the past 59 years. She was a member of Clio Place Baptist Church where she was the Mother of the Church and a member of the Missionary Society, Prayer Band, Deaconess Board and the Pastor's Aide Society. Survivors include three sons, William F. Robertson of Oakland, Calif., Albert Robertson Jr. and Rufus Robertson; a daughter, Jessie Morris; six sisters, Beverly Jones and Augusta Thomas, both of California, Corneilia Battley of Baton Rouge, and Jane, Glynder and Jessica Robertson; 23 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be today at 8 p.m. at Clio Place Baptist Church, 2624 S. Dorgenois St. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Dismissal will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Mount Airy Baptist Church Cemetery in Morganza. Tilly's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jason Clement Haynes, an account manager for Gateway Classic, died Tuesday at his home. He was 24. Mr. Haynes was born in New Orleans and lived in St. Louis for the past six years. He graduated from Redeemer-Seton High School and Fontbonn College in St. Louis. Survivors include his mother, Carol B. Haynes; and four sisters, Rosalind Davis, Susan Arceneaux, Nancy Thompson and Angela Haynes. A Mass will be said Monday at 11:15 a.m. at Epiphany Catholic Church, 1953 Duels St. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Boissiere-Labat Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
