Korbin Reese Simmons "Binion"
(January 22, 2009 - September 23, 2012)

A loving, vibrant, happy, free spirit, Korbin died on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 in Pensacola, FL. He was 3 years old and a resident of Zachary. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 from 5pm until 8pm and on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Zachary, a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am, conducted by Fr. M. Jeffery Bayhi. Graveside service will be at 1:30pm at Simmons Family Cemetery, Magnolia, MS. He is survived by his mother, Sharece Simmons, brother, Kaiden Martin, father, Nicholas "Nick" Hines and wife, Karri Kernan, sister, Emma Hines, stepsisters, Toni and Karlee Vaughn. Grandparents, Susan and Thomas Terrio, Samuel Simmons, Anita Rials and Richard Hines. Great-grandparents, Leroy and Theresa Terrio, Alice McGeHee, Willis and Chellette Simmons, Robert Leblanc and Perry Hebert. Aunts and Uncles, Sabrina and Warren Ferrage III; Emily and Rusty Bergeron, Angela Terrio, Jenna Terrio, Dustin Hines, Blake Hines and Shenna Lewis. Many cousins. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Sammy Simmons, Jr. Pallbearers will be his godparents, Jenna Terrio and James Taylor and Dustin Hines and Kris Perer. Honorary pallbearer is Mark Kernan. Donald James Richard "Blue"
(January 9, 1937 - September 26, 2012)
U.S. Veteran

Donald James Richard passed away, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Don was born January 9, 1937 in Baton Rouge. He was a resident of Zachary, LA. "Blue" had a 45 year career as a talented master craftsman at Delta Tank and Ethyl Corporation (later renamed Albemarle). As a young man he served his country in the National Guard for ten years. Don was an avid sportsman and played Men's Fast Pitch Softball for many years. Don was a devout Catholic, as a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Zachary. He was much loved by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Elvan Cyprian and Ollie Hidalgo Richard; his brother, Joseph Richard; and his sisters Anna Mae Theriot and Ruby Cotton. "Pop" is survived by his wife of 57 years Pat Watson Richard; his children Randy Richard; Rob and Kelly Richard; and Dee Ann and Dan Wallis; his grandchildren Randy and Katie Wallis; Dusty and April Richard; Josh and Megan Richard; Jesse Richard; Jamie Richard; and Jessica Perdue; one great-grandchild Abigail Richard; and are waiting for the birth of a Baby Boy and a Baby Girl. He is also survived by two sisters; Rita Cannatella and Wilma Farmer; two godsons, Terrill Decuir and Matthew Cotton; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Father Jeffery Bayhi, Dr. Kemp Amacker, Dr. Charles Thompson and the outstanding staff at Lane Regional Medical Center. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and Terrill Decuir, Elvan "Sonny" Theriot, and Rick Richard. Memorial donations may be made to the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Building Fund. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 9am until 11:30am. They will then move to the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary for an 11:45 Eulogy and a 12:00 Noon funeral Mass. Burial will be in Azalea Rest Cemetery.

Edwin Lee Whitaker
(July 2, 1932 - September 28, 2012)
U.S. Veteran

A resident of Zachary, he died Sept. 28, 2012 at 2:20 p.m. at his home. He was 80 years old and was retired from Allied Plastics with 40 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and continues on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 from 11 a.m. until service at noon conducted by Dr. Reggie Bridges. Burial will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Baton Rouge. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rita Joyce Latil Whitaker. A daughter and son-in-law, Susan Renee and James Dixon. A son, Edwin ""Eddie"" Whitaker, Jr. 3 sisters, Lorraine Ayer, Irene Rogillio and Ola King. 5 grandchildren, Brad Dixon and wife, Megan; Ashley Whitaker, Andy Whitaker Megan R. Dixon and Aaron Whitaker. 5 great grandchildren, Caleb, Cameron and Connor Carraway and Braden and Brynn Dixon. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Viola Whitaker, brothers, George and Billy Whitaker and sisters, Blanche Whitaker, Evie Bridges and Dorothy Hanna. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Brad, Andy and Aaron, and his nephews, Ben Magee and Steve and Shannon Sutton. Special thanks to Vivian Sutton and Brandie LeDuff and to St. Joseph's Hospice staff for all your loving care and support. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude.

Everett Paul Deroche
(September 26, 2012 - September 29, 2012)

Everett Paul Deroche was born Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at 1:42 p.m. to excited parents, Matthew and Ginger Deroche. He weighed 4 pounds, 9 ounces and was 17.75 inches long. Everett's family was blessed with 3 days together before he went home to Heaven September 29, 2012 at 10:45 a.m. Everett was able to feel the love of his family as they cared for him in the NICU. He experienced hugs and kisses, listened to his momma and sister sing him songs, and heard "I love you" countless times. Everett was preceded in death by his infant siblings, Jillian and Jonah. He will be deeply missed by his momma and daddy; big sister Evelyn; grandparents, Blane and Elizabeth Deroche, and Thomas and Gail Zeringue; aunts and uncles, Lauren Deroche, Rachael and Jason Cottrell, Ralph and Amy Zeringue, Natalie and Jason McGraw, and Kimberly and Corey Schexnayder; cousins, Morgan and Iris Cottrell, and Grace and Caroline Zeringue; and numerous extended family and friends until they are with him again in Heaven. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses and staff of Woman's Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Everett and his family during this time. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 8, at Grace Life Fellowship in Baton Rouge. Linda Carole Green
(August 28, 1950 - October 2, 2012)

Linda Carole Green, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt died Tuesday morning, October 2, 2012 at her home in Central, LA, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was a retired medical transcriptionist. She was born August 28, 1950 in Baton Rouge, LA. She loved fishing, reading, computers and puzzles. She is survived by her beloved mother, Ruth Webster of Baker, LA; her loving father and step-mother, Stacy and Kathy Green of Central, LA; sister, Ann Green McDonald and husband Gary of Zachary; nieces and nephews, Karen and Joe Ward, Amy and Mark Rogers, Tony and Monica McDonald, Douglas McDonald, Christopher Jones; great nieces and nephews, Megan and Adam Girlinghouse, Abbye McDonald, Nicholas Jones, Max Rogers, Amelia Jones, Ava Jones and Chloe Rogers; great-great niece, Adyson Girlinghouse; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her sister, Joan Green. Memorial visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Zachary United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Hospice.

Edith Rosemary Reed Schillings "Edie"
(April 16, 1944 - September 10, 2012)
U.S. Veteran

Edith "Edie" Rosemary Reed Schillings, loving wife, beloved mother, and wonderful sister, died on Monday, September 10, 2012 at her home in Zachary. She was 68 years old and was born in Dayton, OH. She was a registered nurse in the US Navy. She worked at Lane Regional Medical Center, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and later retired from East LA State Hospital. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary, on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday at First Baptist Church of Zachary from 11:00 am until service time at 12noon. Burial will be in Port Hudson National Cemetery, Zachary. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Joseph Paul Schillings; son, Marcus Leyburne Schillings and fiance' Irina Shapiro; a stepson, Terry Wayne Schillings and wife DeDe; siblings, Albert Reed and wife Michelle, Katherine Vaughan, Margaret Pawley and husband Eugene and Frances Burch and husband Sam; and brother-in-law, Robert Tauber. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Edith Reed; sister, Martha Tauber; and brother-in-law, Paul Vaughan. She became licensed as a legal nurse practitioner and was published in the US News and World Report Magazine. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Zachary. The family would like to thank Dr. Frederick Billings and Dr. Kemp Amacker for their loyal wonderful service.
