Stewart Hoover, 65, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Arrangements pending with Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Clinton.

Henry Clay Howell IV
(March 6, 1952 - June 3, 2011)

Henry Clay Howell IV, 59, of Jackson, died near midnight Friday, June 3, 2011, after a courageous battle against cancer. He was an author, retired teacher and coach. Born March 6, 1952, in Baton Rouge, he was a 1970 graduate of Jackson High School and earned a B.A. from Southeastern Louisiana University. He was a member of the East Feliciana Parish School Board and St. Alban's Reformed Episcopal Mission, Ethel. Visitation at Jackson United Methodist Church on Monday, June 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A short visitation will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, St. Francisville, on Tuesday from noon until the funeral service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Bob Matheny. Burial in the church cemetery. Survived by his wife of 31 years, Melinda Rawls Howell; son, Henry Clay Howell, V; and daughter, Clara Elizabeth Howell. Also survived by a sister, Mary Howell, and her daughters, Catherine "Kate" Boudreaux Raposo, Maggie Boudreaux Fletcher and Brandy Sanders Boudreaux. Also survived by a sister, Sarah Rawls Davis and her husband, Scott Davis; nieces, Shelley Davis, Brooke Davis and Christa Davis; cousins, Richard C. Howell, Michael F. Howell, Barbara Howell and Hanno Fiser of Jackson. Preceded in death by his mother, Martha Baysinger Howell; father, Henry C. Howell, III; and brother, George Aubrey Rawls Sr. Pallbearers will be his surviving nephews, Riley "Beau" Boudreaux, George Aubrey Rawls Jr., Jacob Davis, Nathan Davis, Scott Raposo and Nolan Fletcher. Honorary pallbearer is Capt. Joshua Davis. He was formerly an elected member of the Jackson Board of Trustees, past president of the Jackson Assembly, the Jackson Lions Club, the Friends of Centenary College and the former commander of the G.A. Scott chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He formerly served as vice president of the East Feliciana Historical Preservation Society and as a board member of both the Feliciana Community Concert Association and the Feliciana Chamber of Commerce.

Margot Gertrude Krumm Brian "Margie"
(July 10, 1935 - June 10, 2011)

A resident of Slaughter and a native of Koblenz, Germany, she died Friday, June 10, 2011, at Grace Nursing Home. She was 76. Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home Inc. in Clinton on Sunday, June 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Monday, June 13, from 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Billy Carpenter. Burial in Patterson Cemetery, Slaughter. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Stanley Brian; a son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Jackie Brian, Slaughter; two sisters, Edith Pridemore and husband Shirl, Norfolk, Va., and Giesla Smith, Wiesbaden, Germany; and three grandchildren, Kaitlin, Preston and Parker Brian. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Gertrude Krumm. Pallbearers will be Preston Brian, Parker Brian, Charles Bruhl, Robert Wascome, Barry Dwier Jr. and Andrew Feierabend. She was gardener and animal lover. She was a child survivor of World War II in Germany. She enjoyed crocheting. Special thanks to the residents and staff at Grace Nursing Home for all your compassion and support.

James Steven Bogie "Steve" "Mad Dog"
(January 11, 1945 - June 9, 2011)
U.S. Veteran

James Steven "Steve" "Mad Dog" Bogie died Thursday, June 9, 2011, at the age of 66, surrounded by his loving family. He was a retired operator at Georgia Pacific. Visiting will all be at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, on Sunday June 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday from 8:30 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m., conducted by Pastor Jonathan Samuel. Burial will be in Port Hudson National Cemetery, Zachary. He is survived by his mother, Ann Bogie, of Zachary; sister, Jean Ann Bogie Thompson and husband James Mitchell, of Baker; brothers, Jack B. Bogie, of Zachary and Thomas E. Bogie and wife Shirley, of Baton Rouge; three nieces, Melissa T. Sutton and husband David, of Slaughter, Neila T. Polk and husband Jason, of Walker and Joy Bogie, of Zachary; and two nephews, Marcus Thompson, of Baton Rouge and Joshua Thompson, of Baker. He is also survived by three great-nieces, MacKenzie Thompson, Isla Polk and Ashlynn Rome; and two great-nephews, Jacob Thompson and Noah Sutton. He was preceded in death by his father, David T. Bogie. Pallbearers will be Marcus Thompson, Joshua Thompson, David Sutton, Jason Polk, Jacob Thompson and James Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Bogie, Thomas Bogie, Noah Sutton, Isla Polk and Ashlynn Rome and MacKenzie Thompson. He was the past editor and publisher of the Bossier City Newspaper, an English teacher at Saigon University in Vietnam, a member of VFW post 4224 in Baker, anysolider.com, Patriot Guard Riders and supported Jessica's Hope Project. He served three separate tours in Vietnam. He was very heavily involved with sending care packages overseas to U.S. troops and took care of children in the burn unit in Afghanistan Children's Burn Center and Iraq Burn Center.

Johnnie Shaffer Graham "Ponnie"
(June 29, 1921 - June 7, 2011)

A resident of Clinton, Mrs. Johnnie Graham passed away at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at age 89. She was born June 29, 1921, in Sapa, Miss., to Lester Abraham Shaffer and Cordie Henley Shaffer. She was the former owner, along with her husband, of Clinton Hardware and Supply and Clinton Gift Shop in Clinton for 37 years. She was also a founding member of Feliciana Baptist Church. Although not active in the military, Mrs. Graham served her country during World War II while working in a laboratory at Oak Ridge, Tenn., along with other patriotic Americans who helped develop the atomic bomb. She was recognized by the U.S. government for her service. Visitation will be Friday, June 10, at Feliciana Baptist Church in Clinton from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church Saturday, June 11, from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Tony Hand. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery in Clinton. She is survived by a daughter, Sue Nell Travis and her husband, Dickey; a son, Phil Graham and his wife, Diane; grandchildren and their spouses, Stephen and Melinda Peairs, Jason Travis, Scott and Jennifer Graham, Andy and Katelyn Graham, Amy Graham and fiancé Andrew Guillot, and Katy Steed; and great-grandchildren, Garrett Peairs, Drew Graham, Cooper Graham and Molly Shepherd. She is also survived by a sister, Earlean Shaffer Bowen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years and 10 months, Robert Calvert Graham; her parents; a brother, Avery Allen Shaffer; a sister, Frances Shaffer Howard; and a son-in-law, James W. Peairs. Pallbearers will be her son, Phil Graham, son-in-law, Dickey Travis, grandsons, Stephen Peairs, Scott Graham and Andy Graham and future grandson-in-law, Andrew Guillot. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Feliciana Baptist Church, P.O. Box 428, Clinton, LA 70722, or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 4196, Monroe, LA 71203.

Georgia Belle White Sullivan
(Died June 6, 2011)

Georgia Belle White Sullivan, age 63, a native and a resident of Clinton, died Monday, June 6, 2011 of cancer. She was a life long member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and served as a vestry member. Visiting will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Clinton from 8:30am to 10:00am service, conducted by Rev. Dianne Turgeon, Deacon. The burial will be immediately after on the family property, the John Marston Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters; Ashley Elizabeth Sullivan Havard and Linsey Genee’ Sullivan Garig and son-in-law Bo James Garig, two grandchildren; Dawson James and Mary Elizabeth Havard; her children’s Maw Maw; Voncile Brown, siblings; Ginger Andrews Hunt, Charles Henry Andrews II, William Doughty Andrews and their spouses; her children’s father; James Eugene Sullivan Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; George & Mary Elizabeth White, Charles Rist & Elizabeth Dunn Andrews, and Russel L. Brown, grandparents; Charles Henry & Josie Belle Andrews; brothers, Charles Harry White & August Rist White; and great aunts; Louise Rist & Lovey Rist Harang. Pallbearers will be Henry Andrews, Billy Andrews, Micah Andrews, Bo Garig, Arkell Merritt, Rickie McKnight, Mark Hurst and Talmadge Bunch. Honorary pallbearers are Ikie Roberts, Francis Hunt, Jason Hooge, and Todd Howell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the St. Andrews’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Helen Mildred Watts Schlatre
(October 7, 1926 - June 3, 2011)

Helen Mildred Watts Schlatre, 84, a resident of Baker, died Friday, June 3, 2011, at Harvest Manor Nursing Home. She was an employee of the U.S. Postal Service for more than 20 years. Visitation at Galilee Baptist Church in Zachary was on Sunday, June 5, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation continues at the church Monday, June 6, from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Ron Lowry and assisted by Deacon Phil BeJeaux. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Baker. She is survived by three sons: Norman R. Schlatre III and his wife, Paula Hughes, of Baker, Donald Schlatre and his wife, Meg McCulloch, of Montgomery, Texas, and Michael Schlatre and his wife, Cynthia Stroderd, of Central; two sisters, Elaine Holstein and Sue Clayton, both of Baker; nine grandchildren, Jason Schlatre and his wife, Shan, Ryan Schlatre and his wife, Jocelyn, Amanda Schlatre, Kristen Schlatre, Brittney Faulkner and her husband, Brock, Micah Schlatre, Emelie McLellan and her husband, Ray, Beau Schlatre and his wife, Rachel, and Logan Schlatre; eight great-grandchildren, Emery Faulkner, Lyla Kate Faulkner, Laurel Ann Schlatre, Paige Schlatre, Savannah Schlatre, Kim Bruce and her husband, James, and Cole Schlatre; and a great-great-grandson, Bryson Bruce. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman R. Schlatre Jr.; and her parents, Odie Watts and Mildred Robinson Watts. Pallbearers will be Logan Schlatre, Ryan Schlatre, Aaron Goolsby, Beau Schlatre, Jason Schlatre, Micah Schlatre, Ray McLellan, Brock Faulkner and Steve Davis. She was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1944.
