WILSON, WOODROW GARLAND 'WOODY'
November 12, 2002

Woodrow Garland "Woody" Wilson, a retired bookkeeper for New Orleans Cold Storage Co., died Sunday at Covenant Nursing Home in New Orleans. He was 90. Mr. Wilson was born in New Orleans and lived in Chalmette for the past 40 years. He lived in Central America for several years, working as a bookkeeper for United Fruit Co. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, Ronald Joseph Wilson; two daughters, Lilia W. "Bonnie" Dugas and Deborah Ann Wilson; and a grandchild. A graveside service will be held today at 2 p.m. at Garden of Memories, 4800 Airline Drive, Metairie. St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MOUNICOU, KATHERINE BOURGEOIS
November 13, 2002

Katherine Bourgeois Mounicou, a retired assistant director of financial aid at Louisiana State University Dental School, died Tuesday at her home. She was 80. Mrs. Mounicou was born in Alexandria and lived in Metairie for the past 10 years. Survivors include a son, Louis C. Mounicou Jr.; a daughter, Cheryl A. Mounicou; a sister, Carol Bourgeois Amann; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home Chapel, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at noon. Burial will be in Metairie cemetery.

THOMAS, ELTON
November 8, 2002

Elton Thomas, a chef, died Saturday of heart failure at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He was 30. Mr. Thomas was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He attended Alcee Fortier High School and Southern University at Baton Rouge and graduated from the Culinary Institute of New Orleans. Survivors include his wife, Rochelle Pierre Thomas; a son, Elton Thomas Jr.; his father, John Batiste; his mother, Betty Turner; his stepfather, Clyde Turner; four brothers, Abdul Thomas, Sonnelle Clark, John Batiste III and John Mylan Batiste; three sisters, Tisha Ward, Trell Scott and Ramona Batiste; and his grandmother, Selena Batiste. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Fifth African Baptist Church, 3419 S. Robertson St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park. Majestic Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

LANDRY, EDWARD P.
November 13, 2002

Edward P. Landry, a retired salesman for Brown's Velvet Dairy, died Monday at his home. He was 90. Mr. Landry was born in Prairieville and lived in New Orleans and Metairie for many years. He was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters, Beth Berger and Peggy Sloat; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at noon at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.

CHARLES, CLARENCE C.
November 21, 2002

Clarence C. Charles, a retired crane operator, died Friday at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 80. Mr. Charles was born in Opelousas and lived in New Orleans for the past 50 years. Survivors include a son, George Herman Smith; two daughters, Joan Marie Smith and Linda Charles Hill; three brothers, Arthur, Raymond and Harry Charles; five sisters, Louisa Reed, Hazel Expose, Octavia Declouet, Audrey Franklin and Idalene Leday; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Friday at 10 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 1441 Teche St., Algiers. Visitation will be today from 6 to 10 p.m. at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 West Bank Expressway, Marrero, and Friday at 8 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Restlawn Park.

BOUDREAUX, ARTHUR WILLIAM
November 13, 2002

Arthur William Boudreaux, a mechanic and teacher of small engine repair, died Nov. 6 of a heart attack at Methodist Memorial Hospital in Houston. He was 64. Mr. Boudreaux was born in New Orleans and lived in Cleveland, Texas, for the past 30 years. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cleveland. Survivors include his wife, Carmen Rosich Boudreaux; four daughters, Karen A. Fawcett, Amy L. Turner, Paula J. Arnold and Rachel G. King; a brother, Gerard Boudreaux; three sisters, Norma T. Spunizo, Rita L. Breun and Jean I. Derbes; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A memorial service was held Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

STAFFORD, MARIE MORAN
November 13, 2002

Marie Moran Stafford, a lunch room employee of the Tangipahoa Parish school system, died Tuesday of adult respiratory distress syndrome at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Independence. She was 64. Mrs. Stafford was born in Hammond and lived in Pumpkin Center. She was a member of New Beulah Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Gerald "Donald" Stafford; two sons, Frank and Orlin Stafford; two brothers, Larry Moran of Head of Island and Willis Moran; two sisters, Eva Lou Cannon of Holden and Barbara Martin; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Geisler Funeral Home in Albany. Visitation will be today from 6 to 10 p.m. and Thursday beginning at 8:30 a.m. Burial will be in Gatlin cemetery, Albany.

November 14, 2002

Katherine Helen Williams, a homemaker, died Sunday of undetermined causes at Chalmette Medical Center. She was 34. Ms. Williams was born in New Orleans and lived in St. Bernard Parish for the past 15 years. Survivors include her mother, Rosalie Williams; two sons, David E. Williams and Nicholas C. Winstead; six brothers, Robert, Walter, Michael, Patrick and Paul Williams and Alois L. Williams Jr.; and two sisters, Lynn Encardes and Patricia Carr. A funeral will be held Friday at noon at Professional Funeral Services of Arabi, 7701 W. St. Bernard Highway. Visitation will be at 10 a.m.

LACOSTE, JOSEPH C. JR.
November 13, 2002

Joseph C. Lacoste Jr., a retired property accountant with Entergy, died Sunday of a heart attack at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was 71. Mr. LaCoste was born in New Orleans and lived in Covington for the past 31 years. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School and attended Loyola University. He served in the Air Force for four years. Survivors include two sons, Joseph C. Lacoste III and Gary J. Lacoste; two daughters, Leslie L. Oser and Joann L. Ulmer; and three grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. at Schoen Funeral Home, 1414 S. Tyler St., Covington. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mandeville cemetery.

WELLS, MARY ROSE
November 14, 2002

Mary Rose Wells, a homemaker, died Sunday of lung cancer at Lafon Nursing Home. She was 54. Ms. Wells was born in Summit, Miss., and lived in New Orleans for the past 30 years. Survivors include two sons, Ricky Tobias and Michael Declouet Wells; five daughters, Arnita Tobias, Juanita T. Deer, Alisa Mesbict, Anisa Mesbict and Tonya Wells; her mother, Ethel Mae Wells; four sisters, Elois Wells Caston, Edna Marie Wells, Helen Wells Mills and Mildred Wells; and 13 grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home, 1610 Lapeyrouse St. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park.

SCHEXNAYDER, GEORGIA CLARK
November 14, 2002

Georgia Clark Schexnayder, a retired teacher with the Terrebonne Parish School Board, died Tuesday of complications from leukemia at her home. She was 73. Mrs. Schexnayder was born in Gist, Texas, and lived in New Orleans for many years and in Houma for many years. Survivors include her husband, Stanley Roy Schexnayder; three sons, Glenn Schexnayder of Schriever and Steven and Kirk Schexnayder; a daughter, Denise Schexnayder Cheramie; two brothers, Herman Clark of Argentina and Gene Clark; a sister, Madeline Clark Neel of Mauriceville, Texas; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Houma. Visitation will be today from 7 to 10 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home, 5899 Louisiana 311, in Houma and Friday at 9 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in St. Francis de Sales cemetery No. 2 in Houma.

GONZALES, YVETTE M.
November 13, 2002

Yvette M. Gonzales, a retired bookkeeper, died Sunday at Doctors Hospital. She was 82. Mrs. Gonzales was born in Brooklyn, New York, and lived in Metairie for the past 45 years. She was an auxiliary member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6640 and a charter member of the Model A Club of New Orleans. Survivors include a daughter, Anne Madding Taylor; a brother, Frank Marquez; a sister, Shirley Elardo; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild. A Mass will be said today at 1 p.m. at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 309 Manson Ave. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Louis cemetery No. 3. Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James "Barry" Sims, a retired cook for Holiday Inn, died Friday of cancer at his home in Long Beach, Calif. He was 62. Mr. Sims was born in New Orleans and lived in Long Beach for the past 40 years. He attended Lincoln High School. Survivors include a son, James Brim of Baton Rouge; five daughters, Peanut John and Tonya A. Jackson, both of Tacoma, Wash., Margaret Cador of Providence and Charlene Lavalais and JamesEtter Steward, both of Long Beach; a brother, Donald Sims of Bridge City; a sister, Diane Phillip of Bridge City; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Henderson Funeral Home in Long Beach.

ROBICHAUX, WILBERT DANIEL
November 14, 2002

Wilbert Daniel Robichaux, a retired chemist with the city of New York, died Sunday at Lafon Nursing Home. He was 94. Mr. Robichaux was born in New Orleans, lived in New York for many years and then returned to New Orleans. He was a graduate of Xavier University. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and the Xavier University Alumni Association. A Mass will be said today at 11 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 7300 Crowder Blvd. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be private. D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

COOPER, AUDREY SYNDIE BRAZIER DORSEY
November 13, 2002

Audrey Syndie Brazier Dorsey Cooper, a retired teacher and guidance counselor in the Orleans Parish school system, died Sunday of renal failure at Canon Hospice. She was 87. Mrs. Cooper was born in Donaldsonville and lived in New Orleans for the past 50 years. She was a graduate of Gilbert Academy and Southern University of New Orleans and received a master's degree from Texas Southern University. Survivors include two daughters, Emily D. Booth of Los Angeles and Evelyn D. Bendy; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Charbonnet-Labat Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip St. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery.

RAGAS, MELVIN 'SPORT'
November 14, 2002

Melvin "Sport" Ragas, a former employee of Plaquemines Parish government, died Saturday after being hit by a car in Port Sulphur. He was 52. Mr. Ragas was born in New Orleans and lived in Port Sulphur. He graduated from Sunrise High School. Survivors include two sons, Glynnwood Ragas of Abilene, Kan., and Melroy Ragas of Gretna; a daughter, Gwen Ragas of Chicago Heights, Ill.; five brothers, Roy, Merlin, Delbert and Edward Ragas, and Oscar Williamson; and seven grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church, Louisiana 23, Port Sulphur. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Fisher cemetery in Port Sulphur. Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
