Charles G. Boehm '59
Charles G. Boehm 59, July 1, 2008, in Falmouth, Maine, at 75. His day job was a commercial loan officer for Casco Bank and Trust. After hours, he was a volunteer rescue worker who trained in emergency medicine and introduced skilled volunteerism for Falmouth rescue in the 1960s and 70s. He helped others in both roles and, according to his son, didnt have a mean bone in his body. Predeceased by his wife, Joan Peppard Boehm 58, survivors include his son, Chip, and daughter, Melinda 83.
Kenneth D. May '67
Kenneth D. May 67, August 15, 2008, in Cambridge, Mass., at 63. After 10 years of traveling and teaching, he worked as a city planner. He earned a J.D. from New England School of Law in 1989 and practiced in Cambridge. Survivors include his siblings Janet Blair, Sheila Robinson, Barbara May, and Laurence May.
George M. Smith '69
George M. Smith Jr. '69, September 21, 2008, in Melrose, Mass., at 61. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Case Tractor for 18 years and at the time of his death was a regional sales manager for Kubota Tractor Co. Survivors include his wife, Susan, a brother, and a sister.
Robert B. Nelson '72
Robert B. Nelson 72, July 1, 2008, in Groton, Mass., at 59. He worked in sales for the telecommunications industry and was regional manager for Telecom NA, traveling in New England, Canada, and France. He enjoyed fly fishing and bird hunting and vacationed at his camp in Maine. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Johnstone Nelson 72, an uncle, and cousins.
Mary Eckhoff Dreyer '74
Mary Eckhoff Dreyer 74, August 7, 2008, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., at 55. She earned her law degree from Albany Law School and practiced in Albany and Saratoga Springs until 1992, when she retired to raise her children. She was executive director of the Fund for Lake George (N.Y.), a sailor, and a long-distance runner. Survivors include her children, Emily, Will, and Paul, four sisters, and her stepmother.
Terrence M. Weithers '82
Terrence M. Weithers 82, July 5, 2008, in Chicago, Ill., at 47. He worked as a credit manager for an HVAC contractor and spent summers at Duneland Beach, Ind. Survivors include brothers Tom, Tim, and Larry, sisters Suzanne Bailey and Joanne Weithers, and 13 nieces and nephews.
L. Richard Thompson '51
L. Richard Thompson 51, June 15, 2006, in Hallowell, Maine, at 76. He worked for New England Telephone for many years. Predeceased by his mother, Stella Greenlaw Thompson 20, he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Weber Thompson 51, his daughter, Laurice Thompson Lee 74, and his son, Peter 76.
Kent Dickerman '53
G. Kent Dickerman 53, January 30, 2006, in St. Paul, Minn., at 75. A ham radio operator, he worked as an engineer at Consolidated Papers in Wisconsin for many years. He is survived by his wife, Ariel, two sisters, and 15 nieces and nephews.
Marcia Curtis '53
Marcia Curtis 53, April 25, 2006, in Charleston, S.C., at 74. She earned her masters in nursing from Yale in 1957 and her Ed.D. from Boston University in 1969. She practiced nursing in Massachusetts and served in the Navy Nurse Corps. In 1968 she moved to the Medical University of South Carolina, where she taught and was Dean of the College of Nursing until she retired in 1985. Colby awarded her a Distinguished Alumna award in 1993.
Franklin King '53
Franklin King III 53, January 15, 2006, in Northampton, Mass., at 74. After earning an MBA from the Wharton School in 1955, he served in the Army for two years. He then worked briefly for The Hartford Insurance Company before joining his fathers company, King & Cushman Insurance Inc., in 1957, from which he retired as president in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Burg King 55, two sons, two daughters, 12 grandchildren, a brother, and two sisters.
Thomas P. Davis '54
Thomas P. Davis 54, June 9, 2006, in Arlington, Va., at 75. He served two years in the Army, then made his career working for the U.S. Customs Service in the U.S. and in Germany. He had a lifelong interest in sports and loved animals, especially his dogs. His wife, Leticia, his son, his sister and brother, five nephews and one niece survive him.
