Florence Conners Vickery '31, Apr. 3, 1998, in Goffstown, N.H., at 88. She worked for several years as a town appraiser for Cole-Layaer-Trumbull. She is survived by her son, James R. Branscombe, and two grandsons.
Genevieve Garran Waterhouse '32, Feb. 27, 1998, in Mattapoisett, Mass., at 88. She taught first grade in Dedham, in Fairhaven and at Center School in Mattapoisett for many years until her retirement. She is survived by her son, Robert Waterhouse, and two grandchildren.
Filbert A. Silveira Jr. '33, Dec. 23, 1997, in Dartmouth, Mass., at 87. He earned a doctorate and operated a medical practice in Fairhaven, Mass., from 1938 until his retirement in 1976. Survivors include his wife, Mary, a daughter, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Robert H. Brann '34, Feb. 21, 1998, in Great Island, Maine, at 87. He was employed at Bath Iron Works as an electrician and lead man until his retirement in 1974. He is survived by a son, Douglas A. Brann, a daughter, Linda L. Manske, four grandchildren and a companion.
Margaret Duerr Hill '35, Dec. 3, 1997, in Amesbury, Mass., at 84. She was a research mathematician for 25 years with the Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories in Bedford, Mass., and also worked on research projects at Harvard and MIT. For several years she was listed in Who's Who of American Women. She is survived by her twin sister, Marie Duerr Henry '35, three sons, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Amy H.C. Thompson '36, Jan. 24, 1998, in Las Vegas, Nev., at 83. She was a physical education teacher at Winslow and Waterville high schools, then began a second career as a school guidance counselor in Waterville and later in Las Vegas. She is survived by three nieces, including Patricia Erskine Howlett '52 and Elaine Erskine Dow '49, two nephews and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Stanley J. Washuk '37, Nov. 18, 1997, in Tucson, Ariz., at 82. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and after the war in postings around the world. He retired from the service as a colonel. Survivors include his son, Daniel Washuk.
Hammond I. Bender '38, Nov. 4, 1997, in Fall River, Mass., at 81. After service in World War II, he opened a podiatry office in Fall River, where he practiced for 56 years and was known for a lifetime of civic involvement. He is survived by his wife, Helene, a daughter and a sister.
Harold M. Wolman '38, Mar. 26, 1998, in Brookline, Mass., at 81. He served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II. A specialist in child psychology, he was a member of the staffs of Massachusetts General, Boston Floating, Boston State and Charles River hospitals and also was an associate professor at Tufts University School of Medicine. He leaves his wife, Marilyn, two brothers, including Gordon Wolman '41, nieces and nephews.
Robert V. Canders Jr. '39, Feb. 8, 1998, in Stamford, Conn., at 80. After service in World War II, he worked for Amica Mutual Insurance Co., and in 1967 he became regional vice president for Amica's New York state operations. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Annie, their two sons, Roger J. Canders and Steven A. Canders '69, four grandchildren and two nephews.
