April 18, 1955 - August 5, 2014

Kay Linnea Cole, 59, of Baroda passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Pine Ridge Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Stevensville.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday, August 11, 2014 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman with Reverend Kendall M. Holder officiating. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 AM, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. Memorial contributions may be given to Baroda Church of God, 5020 Cleveland Avenue, Stevensville, MI 49127 or Berrien County Cancer Service, 7301 Red Arrow Highway, Stevensville, MI 49127.

Kay was born April 18, 1955 in Baroda, Michigan the daughter of the late Dale V. and Betty (Webb) Arend. On May 8, 1982 Kay married John Henry Cole. She was an active member of Baroda Church of God. Kay worked at Hardings Supermarket in Bridgman and enjoyed working with people.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, John; and her sister Pam (Richard) Denton of Three Oaks.

Emily Michelle Boyd-Sarno
March 18, 1990 - July 7, 2013

Emily Michelle Boyd Sarno, 23, of Bridgman passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013 in Bridgman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Saints John and Bernard Parish, 600 Columbus at Catalpa, Benton Harbor with Reverend Father William Jacobs, Jr., V.F. as Celebrant. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Friends may meet the family from 4 - 8 PM on Wednesday at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to Marie Yeager Cancer Center, 3900 Hollywood Road, St. Joseph, MI 49085. Online condolences accepted at www.pikefh.com

Emily was born March 18, 1990 in St. Joseph, Michigan, the daughter of William Howard and Suzanne Marie (Nehring) Boyd Jr. Emily married Andrew J. Sarno on May 18, 2013. Emily was a 2008 graduate of Bridgman High School. She had attended Lake Michigan College. Emily was a medical assistant at the Marie Yeager Cancer Center for two years. She enjoyed dancing, zumba, and loved traveling up north with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband Andrew; her parents - William and Suzanne (Nehring) Boyd Jr of Bridgman; sister Rebecca (Matthew) Fisher of St. Joseph; Andrew’s parents - Gerald and Laura Sarno of St. Joseph; grandparents - Jacquelyn Nehring of Benton Harbor, William and Janet Boyd of Bridgman, Elda Sarno of Covert, Thomas and Mary Payovich of St. Joseph.

Daniel Edward Frederick
February 7, 2013 - May 26, 2013

Daniel Edward Frederick, three months, passed away on May 26, 2013 in New Troy, and is now resting in the arms of Jesus, the Good Shepherd.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway., Bridgman, with Reverend Christopher Noffke officiating. Friends may meet with the family on Saturday from 10 - 11AM prior to the service. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to the family for their needs.

Daniel was born February 7, 2013 in Niles, Michigan the son of Douglas Frederick and Nicole Dunbar.

Survivors include his parents Douglas Frederick and Nicole Dunbar of New Troy; a brother - Shane Frederick; grandparents Ricky and Pamela Frederick of Bridgman and Elmer Dunbar of South Carolina; great grandparents - Edward and Violet Ott of Bridgman.

Wayne Ferdinand Knuth

Wayne Ferdinand Knuth, 60, of Berrien Springs passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, May 24, 2013 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman with Pastor Jon Bendewald officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 2 - 4PM prior to the service at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions may be given to the needs of the family.

Wayne was born July 16, 1952 in St. Joseph, Michigan the son of the late Oscar F. and Ramona Caroline (Roloff) Knuth. Wayne most recently worked at Premier Die Casting, and had worked at Intermet (Cast Matic) in Stevensville as his career has always been in die casting. He was a member of the Redbud Four Wheelers since 1988 and enjoyed camping and hunting. Just being out-of-doors was Wayne’s greatest pleasure.

Survivors include his children - Shannon (Eric) Wharton of Buchanan, Christopher (Amanda Spletzer) Knuth of Stevensville and their mother Karen, and Brian Horton of Orlando, Florida; one grandchild - Makayla Wharton; brother - Richard (Connie) Knuth of Bridgman; sisters - Barbara (Jerrold) Witt of Lake Placid, Florida and Irene Martin of Canton, Michigan; and special friends John and Sharon Bennett of Berrien Springs.

Wayne was also proceeded in death by his brother-in-law Pete Martin.

June Wickham
June 1, 1929 - May 16, 2013

June Wickham, 83, of Stevensville passed away on Thursday May 16, 2013 at her home.

June was born June 1, 1929 in Ypsilanti, Michigan the daughter of the late Milton Charles and Grace (Hardman) Reed. June married Donald Wesley Wickham on June 1, 1949. June was first and foremost a wife and mom. While working as a linotype operator for the Ypsilanti Daily Press she met Don and together they shared 63 years. She also was a clerk at Goldblatt’s Department Store.

Survivors include her husband Donald; children - Charles Waverly of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Christine Weidler of Stevensville, Cathleen Anstey of New York, David Wickham of Stevensville, Brian Wickham of Sturgis; grandchildren - Emma C. Wickham, Mathew C. Weidler, Erin C. Palecek, Holly A. Weidler, Joseph S. Anstey, Valerie C. Anstey, Daniel H. Anstey, Amy Wickham, Susan Wickham; great grandchildren - Hannah E. Anstey, Daniel H. Anstey, Thomas J. Anstey, Ayden M. Burke, Isabella C. Burke, Daniel Bennet, Shane J. Anstey, Zoe Wickham, Alexandra Wickham, and Angela Wickham; sister - Catherine L. Reed of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

William Louis Rittschof
May 4, 1915 - May 12, 2013

William L. Rittschof passed away May 12, 2013 at the Woodland Terrace, Bridgman, Michigan, at the age of 98. Bill's life will be commemorated at his home in New Buffalo later this summer. Donations may be made to the wonderfully supportive Hospice at Home in St. Joseph, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085.

Bill was born May 4, 1915 in Chicago, the son of William and Margaret (Ohlson) Rittschof. He met his beloved wife Muriel (1916 - 2004) while both attended the University of Chicago, where Bill earned his Masters Degree in Chemistry. They married shortly after their graduation, remaining each other's “spark” for the next 60+ years.

Bill was a chemist for Standard of Indiana and Engelhard, and played a key civilian role during WWII. A man with many interests (canoeing, fishing, classical music, science of all flavors …), he'll be most remembered as a loyal friend and gentleman.

Survivors include Bill's only daughter Nancy Bartman, grandson Doug Bartman, granddaughter Wendy Tingle, and great-grandchildren Delaney and Casey Bartman, and Kristin and Jacqueline Tingle. Only son William F. was sadly lost at age 45.

THOMAS EDWARD KANOSKI
August 6, 1942 - May 6, 2013

Thomas Edward Kanoski, 70, of Bridgman, MI, passed way on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, MI. In lieu of memorial contributions, the family would like to encourage blood or other donations to the local blood bank of your choice as a thank you for all the transfusions Tom received in the course of his treatment of Myelo Dysplasia and ensuing stem cell/bone marrow transplant.

Friends may meet with the family Saturday, May 11, 2013, from 10-12 noon at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman, MI.

Tom was born August 6, 1942, in Kankakee, Illinois, the son of the late Edward and Isabelle (Benoit) Kanoski. Tom married Sharon DePalma on September 11, 1965, and they lovingly shared over 47 years together.

After 20 years of working in the air pollution control and pneumatic conveying industry, Tom turned in his mechanical engineering hat to follow his passion and became a full time police officer. Earlier, he had been a volunteer firefighter and then became a volunteer auxiliary deputy for Kane County, Illinois, and a police officer for Maple Park, Illinois. He was Chief Deputy for Schuyler County Sheriff Department, Rushville, Illinois until retirement in 2007. He and his wife retired to Bridgman, Michigan to be nearer to family. Tom was proud of and loved his children, and he adored every one of his seven grandchildren.

Tom’s love in life, next to his family, was the art and science of firearms. He taught many young and adult shooters the shooting sport, stressing safety and respect of firearms. As an avid gun collector, hunter, and police officer, Tom spent much of his life in shooting ranges, at local and national competitions, and in the beloved woods of his family farm. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed camping in his motor home with his family and friends. Tom and his wife, Sherry, were members of the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) where they entered Cowboy Action Shooting competitions around the country. Tom’s SASS name was: GUNNABE COWBOY. Tom loved working in his wood shop. He created many toys for his grandchildren, for Toys for Tots, and a beautiful baby crib for his grandchildren. He labeled them: Papa Tom’s Toys. He said often that his wooden toys will long outlive him, and that his grandchildren will know him through them for many years to come.

Tom was a 39 year survivor of lymphoma that he contracted in 1974. As a result of his cancer treatment, Tom later developed Myelo Dysplasia and received a stem cell/bone marrow transplant in summer, 2012. He died at Lakeland Hospital from complications following a severe colon infection.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry; children-Steven (Darlene) Kanoski of Elgin, IL, Kevin (Linda) Kanoski of Chicago, Illinois, Debra (Mark) Spatz of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren- Michael, Zachary, Luke, Alex, Samantha, Isabelle, Elias; sister-Carol A. (Joseph) Fritz of Bradley, Illinois; brothers-Ronald J. (Joan) Kanoski of Springfield, Illinois, and Donald (Cindy) Kanoski of Monee, Illinois.

ROBERT MICHAEL GARRISON
January 19, 1946 - June 12, 2013

Robert Michael Garrison, 67, of St. Joseph passed away June 12, 2013 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 10 - 11 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, Michigan 49085.

Robert was born January 19, 1946 the son of Harold R. and Josephine M. Garrison. Robert worked at Whirlpool in his younger days while enjoying fishing and hunting. His spirit loved the out-of-doors. Family and friends were important to Robert and his heart of gold will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his mother - Josephine; daughters - Dianna Lynn Anselmo and Melissa Jo Coward; sisters - Roxanne and Sheri-Jo; four granddaughters; two grandsons and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann, sisters - Barbara Jean Thar and Helyn Ann Ott, and brother Mark James Garrison.
