Pearl R. Monroe

Pearl "Sammy" Rose (Bishop) Monroe, as the Lord looked down from the throne of grace and heard the prayers of his beloved daughter, with outstretched arms he said "Come home" on July 7, 2006 at Eaton Community Hospice, Charlotte. Pearl made her transition to her heavenly home, she was 64 years young. She was born Dec. 15, 1941 in Saginaw.

She was self employed, owning three adult foster care homes. She loved and cared for each resident as if they were her own family and they loved her as well. She taught her children and grandchildren to love all people, despite their disabilities or handicaps. Upon insisting that her children would all graduate from high school, she returned to Potterville Adult Ed and graduated along with her eldest child in 1978. She loved to travel and spend long lazy afternoons soaking up the sun on a beautiful beach. She loved to entertain friends and family and had many family reunions at her home, everyone always wondering which outfit and fancy hat Aunt Pearl would be wearing.

She was preceded in death by father: George Bishop; mother: Marguerete (Lewis) Bishop; sisters: Loretta (Bishop) McCrary and Kay (Bishop) Smith; brother: Alton Bishop; great-granddaughter: Abigail Monroe; daughter-in-law: Lori Sue (Casler) Monroe and step-son: Kevin (Hughes) Lake.

Surviving are sons: Richard Mark Monroe, Ronald Lee (Kathy) Sullivan and Robert James Sullivan; daughter: June Marie (Lue) (Sullivan) Esch; grandchildren: Brooke Esch, Joseph David (Ashlee) Monroe, Richard Derik Sullivan, Krystin Lee Sullivan, Andrea Marie Monroe and Kyle James Sullivan; great-grandson: Caden Monroe; brothers: Harold and George Bishop; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held July 11 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Randy Royston officiating. Interment was held in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dimondale.

Carroll H. Moon

Carroll H. Moon, 83, of Olivet, passed away Monday, May 15, 2006 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.

Moon was born Jan. 1, 1923 in Walton Township, the son of Fred F. and Genevieve (Waller) Moon and was a like resident of Walton Township. He was a 1943 graduate of Olivet High School, and an FFA member, where he attained the State and American Farmer and was involved in the Walton Wonders 4-H Club. He was a lifelong farmer and was a member of the Eaton County Board of Commissioners at the time of his passing, having served for 33 years. He as the board’s chairman in 1983-84 and was planning to run for another in the upcoming election. He was a life member of the Olivet Lodge #267 F.&A.M. and the Charlotte Lodge #120 F.&A.M., was a member of the Olivet Congregational Church where he had served in many offices for more than 60 years. In 1998 with his wife Peggy, he was inducted into the Farmers Hall of Fame in Prairieville, Mich.

He is survived by Peggy (Johnson) Moon, his wife of 61 years; daughter, Kristine Ann (Jeffery) Morris of Olivet; son, Keith Allen (Donna) Moon of Olivet; seven grandchildren, Jason (Leigh Ann) Milbourn, Nicholas (Lacy Campbell) Milbourn, Trever (Sara) Milbourn, Andrew Wischmeyer, Ryan Morris, Tracy (Kyle) Carpenter and Hayley Ann Moon and eight great-grandchildren, Aysa, Jayden, Devin, Kendra, Malaki, Damien, Breaze and Tanas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dorian Moon.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2006 at the Olivet Congregational Church with Rev. Jack Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Olivet Congregational Church. Arrangements by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home.

Ruby Lee (Harris) Wade Moon

Ruby Lee (Harris) Wade Moon of Eaton Rapids, age 89, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2006 in Dunedin, Florida. Ruby was born June 26, 1917 in Dresden, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Moon; brothers, Jerrell Harris, Elijah Harris, Odean Harris and Lyle Harris; daughters, Mary Warren and Judy Dodge; and one grandson, Tim Dodge.

Ruby is survived by her siblings, Virginia Ward, Donald (Allene) Harris and Loreda Groce of MI; her children, Larry (Shelly) Wade, Barbara (Clint Vigus) Wasson and Rick Wade, all of Florida, Alice Davis of Lansing, Peggy (Dave) Decess of TN; 20 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today at 2:00 p.m. at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids, with interment following at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make contributions to the Ruby Moon Memorial Fund, c/o Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids, MI, 48827 in her memory. .

Dorothy M. Moore

Dorothy M. Moore, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, died on March 24 at the age of 71. Dorothy was born Feb. 6, 1935, in Butler County, KY to Jessie and Essie (Bratcher) Swift.

Dorothy retired in 1997 from Meadow View School where she worked as a paraprofessional. Dorothy was instrumental in the creation of the Lansing Rosary Guild and served as Sacristan at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for many years. She enjoyed cooking, creating family gatherings, and numerous arts and craft projects.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Ralph, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage; five daughters; Deborah Moore, Diane (Dale) Dixon, Doreen Sierawski, Dawn Moore-Carter (James), and Darlene Moore; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass was celebrated March 29 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Reverend Father Denis R. Spitzley officiating. Interment was at Center Eaton Cemetery in Charlotte.

Dorothy was truly an “Artist of Life,” whose endless acts of love and caring colored her world with warmth, and created a “family” that extended far beyond her own. Generous acts, in word and deed, were the hallmark of Dorothy’s life. The family requests that those who would like to make a donation in Dorothy’s memory, do so by donating acts of caring and kindness to someone in need today. Take a moment to let someone else know how much they matter.

Edburt Ellsworth Moore

Edburt E. “Eddie” Moore of Mason, age 65, died Thursday, March 2, 2006 at his residence following a long illness. He was born July 28, 1940 in Eaton Rapids the son of Roy and Velma (Miller) Moore. Eddie was an Eaton Rapids High School graduate and served in the Army during the Viet Nam War. He retired in 1996 with 33 years of service for General Motors and was a member of the U.A.W. Local #652. He was a member of several horse clubs and associations including, M.S.P.B.&O., P.t.H.A. and A.M.H.A.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Barbara; 2 children, Kaylee (Roger) Altman of Mason and David and (Becky) Moore of Leslie; 3 grandchildren, AnnJel Moore, Kacie and Kellie Christopher; 2 sisters, Kay Baker of Charlotte and Yvonne (Stan) Palmer of Eaton Rapids; several nieces & nephews.

Memorial services will be Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to Sparrow Home Hospice P.O. Box 30480 Lansing, Mi, 48909 or to P.S.P.org. in memory of Edburt E. Moore.

Elmira V. Moore

Elmira V. Moore, 86, of Hastings died April 15, 2006 She was born February 22, 1920 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Moore in April of 1996, a infant son, Richard Dana, and both her parents, 3 brothers, Clarence, Walter, and Arthur.

Surviving are her 3 daughters, Karen Ferry of Eaton Rapids, Sandra (Gary) Diebel of Ohio, and Deborah Simms of Sunfield, 4 grandchildren, Eric Turner, Mesina (Mike) Pett, Shannon (Brent) Barker, and Brian Ferry, 3 great grandchildren, August and Varik Pett, and Ella Barker, a sister, Helen Peterson.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday April 19, 2006 Michigan time and 12 Noon Illinois time at the Savanna Twp., Illinois Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Moe of the First United Methodist Church officiating. The family will gather there one hour before service time.

Contributions may be made to the Humane Society in memory of Mrs. Elmira V. Moore c/o RFH P.O. Box 36, Sunfield, MI 48890.

Gary D. Moore

Gary Duane Moore, AGE 63, of Charlotte, formerly of Brethren, Michigan, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2006.

Mr. Moore was born March 26, 1943 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Ralph Moore and Irene Fieock. He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie in 1981.

Mr. Moore was employed as a machinist at IMPCO in Lansing before becoming employed with Crankshaft Machine in Jackson. He loved deer hunting until his health prohibited him from going to the woods. Mr. Moore would go fishing wherever he could find water that might contain some fish and was an avid gardener who loved sharing the produce with his family, friends and neighbors. Mr. Moore was a giving person who sould share his harvest of the garden, fish of the pond, and touched many lives with his giving ways.

He is survived by his daughter, Shannon (Andy) Kubasczyk, of Potterville; daughter, Karen (Ronald) Roy of Kaleva; son, Shawn (Savanah) Moore of Alabama; six grandchildren, Breeanna, Ethan, Patrick, Deborah, Alexander, Emma and other extended family members.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 15, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan with Pastor Rich Mitterling officiating.

Interment was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006 in Brethern Cemetery in Brethern, Michigan. Visitation was held Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Pray Funeral Home.

George E. Moore

George E. Moore, 84, of Charlotte, rode off into the sunset to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 13, 2006. Mr. Moore was born March 19, 1921 in Ross, N.D., the son of Elmer and Minnie (Mitchell) Moore.

Mr. Moore enjoyed riding horses, farming and working with wood and leather. He especially enjoyed time with his family playing cards and camping. Mr. Moore belonged to the VFW, and retired from Motor Wheel in 1981.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Moore in 1996; sister, Francis and brother, Mike.

He is survived by his wife Adelaida; son, Thomas (Joan) Moore of Fremont; daughters, Judy (Ron) Trausch of Charlotte, Linda Moore of Grand Ledge and Bobbie (Melvin) Darrow of Olivet; step children, Esmeralda, Irene, Nora, and Oscar of Texas; 16 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brother, Howard (Phyllis) Moore of Charlotte; and sister-in-law Ella Moore of Olivet.

Funeral services were held Feb. 18 at First Lutheran Church in Charlotte with Rev. Tim Olson officiating. Interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.

Murray M. Moore

Murray M. Moore, age 88, of Eaton Rapids died at his residence with his family by his bedside. He was born July 15, 1918 in Eaton Rapids the son of Carlos and Grace (Collar) Moore. Murray was an Eaton Rapids High School graduate, class of 1936 and served in the Army during World War II assigned to the 602 tank destroyer battalion. He was Co-owner, with his brother Milford, of Moore Implement Co. in Eaton Rapids and had retired from the City of Eaton Rapids as Assistant City Clerk. A Past Master of F. & A.M. Lodge #63 in Eaton Rapids, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Maple City V.F.W. Post# 2406 in Charlotte and a member of the Eaton Rapids Congregational Church. Preceding him in death were his wife, Laura in 1999 and brother, Milford.

He is survived by his son, Marvin (Mindy) Moore of Halifax, Nova Scotia and daughter, Melissa (Bill) Hass of Charlotte; 4 grandchildren, David and Sam Moore, and Bill Hass and Anita (Pero) Ljubevski; several nieces and nephews and special friends Howdy and Carole Hillard.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 23, 2006 from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. Burial followed in the Rosehill Cemetery. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to either Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice or the Eaton Rapids Congregational Church in memory of Murray M. Moore.
