Daniel L. Woolner

Daniel L. Woolner, 56, of Charlotte, formerly of Milan, died Saturday morning, Sept. 7, 2002 at Sparrow Hospital.

Mr. Woolner was born April 18, 1946 in Ann Arbor to Clayton and Marian (Bird) Woolner. He graduated from Milan High School in 1964. He had been employed with Boy Scouts of American for the past 33 years, was a member of the East Lansing Rotary Club and an avid bass fisherman.

He is survived by his parents of Milan; wife, Kathleen; two daughters, Bonni Woolner of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Danielle Bergeron of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren; brother, David (Carmen) Woolner of Carbondale, Colo.; and sister, Deborah (Richard) Ammentorp of Chino Hills, Calif.

Funeral Liturgy was held Sept. 10 at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home in Milan, with procession to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for mass. Rite of Committal followed at Marble Park Cemetery in Milan.

Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America.

Catherine M. Wright

Catherine Marie Wright, 89, of Charlotte, died July 24, 2002.

Mrs. Wright was born Oct. 28, 1912 in Chester Township, the daughter of Roy and Zella (Hutchings) Briggs. She lived in Chester Township her entire life. Mrs. Wright had been active in Extension Homemaking (NFCE), and a member of the West Chester Extension group, holding many offices over her 70-plus years of service. She had also been active in Friend of Michigan Schools. She married Carson Wright Aug. 3, 1933; he preceded her in death May 3, 1993.

She is survived by sons, Milo (Karen) Wright and Neil (Darlene) Wright, both of Charlotte; daughter, Eleanor (Phil) Wheaton of Charlotte; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, DonnaBelle Briggs; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held July 27 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Pastor Kathy Smith officiating. Interment was at Gresham Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Courthouse Square Association.

Myrtle E. Wright

Myrtle E. Wright, age 97 of Dimondale, died March 8, 2002 at the Dimondale Center. She was born in her family’s home in Windsor Township on September 1, 1904, to Mary (Treat) and Francis Bates. Mrs. Wright graduated from Lansing Central High School and earned her teaching certificate from Eaton County Normal School in Charlotte to become a teacher. She taught in the one-room Hinckley School on Holt Road, teaching K-8 grades. After teaching in Canfield, Rogers and Hinckley Schools, she taught in the Eaton Rapids School District until her retirement. Myrtle married Jesse Wright on June 16, 1928 in Wausseon, Ohio, and lived most of her entire life on the family farm in Windsor Township. She was a member of the Eaton Rapids Retired Teachers Association and the Winnebago Club. She was predeceased by her husband, her sister and a daughter.

Surviving are daughters, Betty Goodrich of Dimondale, Sue (Jim) Reid of Lansing, Mary (Steve) Romankewitz of Grand Blanc; son, Robert of Mason; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 12 at Dimondale, with Chaplain David L. Voorhees officiating. Interment will follow in Dimondale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Citizens for Better Care, or Hospice of either Eaton or Ingham counties.

Ronald L. Wright

Ronald Lynn Wright, 54, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, March 7, 2002.

Mr. Wright was born March 10, 1947 in Lansing, the son of Byron and Thelma (Ryerson) Wright.

He is survived by a brother, Byron (Janet) of DeWitt; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services were held March 9, with Rev. Deborah Johnson officiating.

Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home of Charlotte.

William H. Wright

William Hughes Wright, 84, of Charlotte, formerly of Findlay, Ill., passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 in Charlotte.

Mr. Wright was born July 15, 1918 in Sullivan, Ill., the son of Arthur and Evalina (Hughes) Wright. Beginning as a tool and die apprentice at Caterpillar in Peoria, Ill., Mr. Wright later worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II and finished his career in cost analysis at Ford Motor Company World Headquarters in Dearborn. His focus was always his sons and their families; he considered them the bright lights in his life.

He is survived by sons, William D. (Kathy) Wright, DDS, of Charlotte, and Lawrence (Suzy) Wright, OD, of Newburgh, Ind.; grandchildren, Christy Wright, Stacey (Scott) Randall, Brandi Wright and Brandon Wright; and great-granddaughters, Julia and Elsie Randall.

His wife Rita (Carrico) Wright preceded him in death in 1974.

No local services will be held. Interment was at the Wright Family Cemetery in Findlay, Ill.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ele’s Place, a healing center for grieving children, 600 W. St. Joseph St., Suite 1-G, Lansing, MI 48933. Arrangements were by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte and Lockart & Sons Funeral Home in Findlay, Ill.

Robert Wyble

Robert John Wyble, 91, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002.

Mr. Wyble was born March 1, 1911, in Kalamo, Michigan, the son of Thomas and Cecile (Rolf) Wyble.

Robert was production worked for AE Hoover for 20 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, helping his neighbors and coffee at McDonalds.

He is survived by companion Bernie Eaton, daughter Alice (James) Lundeen of Charlotte, Michigan, two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, brother Ted Wyble of Lansing, sister Lois Rich of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, and many nieces and nephews.

His wife Madeline preceded him in death in 1980.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Kalamo, Michigan. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation.

Mary Caroline Yerxa

Mary C. Yerxa, age 80 of Eaton Rapids, died Thursday, February 21, 2002 at a Lansing hospital. She was born April 13, 1921 in Eaton County, the daughter of Claude and Edith (Rolfe) Mellor. Upon graduation from high school, Mary began working in Charlotte for Consumers Power and later transferred to the Eaton Rapids office, where she met her husband Philip Yerxa. Together they owned and operated the Dimondale Hardware Store for 26 years. Mary was a member of the Rebekah Sunshine Lodge #142 in Eaton Rapids, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary formerly of Eaton Rapids and the Eaton Rapids Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Philip in 1990.

Surviving are 3 children, John Yerxa of Eaton Rapids, Phyllis (Dave) Squires of Onondaga and Arnold “Arnie” (Mary Ellen) Yerxa of Lansing; 2 grandchildren, Randy (Allison) Squires and Cindy (Dan) Ward; 3 step-grandchildren, Christine (Bob) Laverty, Karen (Dave) Middleton and Kelly (Dave) Davis; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joyce Yerxa and Frances Hamling; brother-in-law, Floyd Hunter; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 25, 2002 from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with the Rev. John Toth of the Dimondale Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial followed in the Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. For those desiring, a memorial contribution may be made to either the Dimondale Presbyterian Church or the Eaton Rapids Senior Center in memory of Mary C. Yerxa.

Carl Young

Carl Young, 80, of Charlotte, died Friday, May 3, 2002 at his residence.

Mr. Young was born Aug. 22, 1921 in Perry County, Ky., the son of Harlan and Julia (Patrick) Young. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II for three years, with 18 months of overseas duty in Europe. He married Doris McDiarmid on Jan. 8, 1949 in Lansing. Mr. Young was a retired Fisher Body employee and attended Gospel Assembly in Lansing.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris; four sons, Edward, Tommy, Teddy and Larry, all of Charlotte; one daughter, Sandra Kay (Robert) Van Splintern of Charlotte; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; five brothers, Fred (Joan), James (Sue) and Clyde, all of Lansing, and Claude and Harlan (Sharon), both of Charlotte; and four sisters, Lena Peterson and Margaret Ewing, both of Charlotte, Loretta “Pat” (Jerry) Staley of Middleton and Virginia (Melvin) Gosnell of Grand Ledge.

Funeral services were held May 7 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel in Charlotte, with Pastor Richard Workman officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Harry Howard Zentmyer

Harry Howard Zentmyer, age 90 of Eaton Rapids, died Saturday, May 4, 2002 at the St. Lawrence/Dimondale Center. He was born October 11, 1911 in Eaton Rapids, the son of Cyrus and Virgie (Stuver) Zentmyer. Mr. Zentmyer spent most of his life as a farmer in rural Eaton Rapids, he was a Contractor and Carpenter for Quality Dairy for many years and in the winter seasons spent time as an Interior Decorator in many homes in the Eaton Rapids area. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eaton Rapids, an Interior Decorator in many homes in the Eaton Rapids area. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eaton Rapids, an active supporter of the Eaton Rapids Medical Center, and was active with 4-H groups and a member of the Eaton County Farm Bureau. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Anita (Bradley) on July 1, 2001.

Surviving are his 2 sons, Milton (Naomi) Zentmyer of Santa Fe, NM and Errol (Nancy) Zentmyer of Delray Beach, FL; daughter, Norma (Richard) Johnson of South Bend, IN; 8 grandchildren, Bradley Zentmyer of Las Vegas, Julie (Vahan) Tafralian of Las Vegas, Barbara Zentmyer of Kalamazoo, Thomas Zentmyer of Marcellus, MI, Cheryl (Mike) Smith of Eaton Rapids, Brian (Talmidah) Johnson of Warsaw, Missouri, Susan (Alex) Callender of Olympia, WA, and Diane (Jeff) Wirth of Osceola IN; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Reatha) Zentmyer of Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at 11 a.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. Burial will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Harry H. Zentmyer.
