Lori Dangler

Lori Dangler, 40 of Charlotte, died June 1, 2005.

Mrs. Dangler was born January 9, 1965 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Lou (DePuy) Pepera. She was a member of the Charlotte Assembly of God Church and their choir, had been a volunteer at Galewood Elementary School and especially enjoyed outings with her kids.

She is survived by her husband Darol; children, Nathan Delapaz of Holt, Melissa, Elijah and Alana Dangler, all of Charlotte; mother, Mary Lou Pepera of Highland Township; brothers, Tommy and John (Belinda) Pepera of Jacksonville, Florida, and sister Lynn (Billy) Hedler of Highland Township. She was preceded in death by her father and daughter Kimberly Delapaz in 1993.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the Charlotte Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Mark Woodbury officiating. If desired, memorial contributions maybe made to the family.

Daniel Dankenbring

Daniel Dankenbring, 39, died Feb. 27, 2005.

Daniel was a sergeant in the Army and served in Desert Storm. Members of his family include his daughters, Jacqueline Dankenbring, age 11, and Kayla Dankenbring, age 7, of Nashville; his beloved brothers, Gerald (Melanie) Dankenbring of Lansing and Robert of Detroit; sister, Cindy (Kevin) Burns of Ionia; stepson, Marc (Shenna) Landgraf of Dover, Del.; uncle, Larry (Phyllis) Belcher of Vermontville; cousin, Eddie Belcher of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held March 1 at Fort Custer Cemetery in Battle Creek.

Garold “Gary” C. Davenport

Garold “Gary” C. Davenport, age 67, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9th at his home in Eaton Rapids after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 22, 1937 in Flint, MI. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan. Gary retired from the State of Michigan in 1995 as a civil engineer and Director of the Construction Division. He forever enjoyed crossword puzzles, Jeopardy, tennis, dancing, snow skiing and flying. He was a private pilot and had flown for over 30 years. He had a second home in Mesa, AZ, where he and his wife Donna enjoyed spending winters with many special friends in an active retirement community. Gary had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor. Gary is loved and missed by those he has left behind. He was preceded in death by his father Clifford and brother Belvin.

Gary is survived by his wife Donna; son Keith (Carol) of Williamston, MI; grandchildren Laris and Landon who called him “Airplane Papa”; son, Roger of Miami, FL; mother, Mildred Hall and brother David (Linda) of North Branch, MI; 2 stepsons; Rick Davis and Dave Davis of Eaton Rapids, 2 stepdaughters, Jane (Ken) Orr of Eaton Rapids, Marsha (Mike) Fowler of Geneva, IL; ten step grandchildren; Ricky Davis, Mike (Bonnie) Davis, Corey Davis, Kerry Davis, Ashley, Morgan and Anthony Orr and Alex, Christopher and Andie Fowler and many others whose live he touched.

Visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at The Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 14th at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. For those desiring, donations may be made to the Ingham Visiting Nurse or Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Helen Esther Davidson

Helen Esther Davidson, age 96, of Eaton Rapids, died Thursday, June 30, 2005 at the Grand Haven Living Center in Lansing. Helen was born in Darke County, Ohio on November 18, 1908 to Harry and Effie Fernsler, the second daughter of eight children. The family lived on a farm north of Greenville, Ohio, where Helen attended Swampoodle School. Helen learned how to be self-sufficient in those days by working on the farm, making her own clothes, knitting, and cooking. The family then moved to Michigan and settled on a farm near Gresham, north of Charlotte. After finishing 8th grade at the Gresham School, Helen packed her belongings in a cardboard suitcase and made her way to Charlotte, determined to graduate from high school. She walked door-to-door in Charlotte looking for work as a maid so she could attend school. Helen found a job with the owners of Roseacres Greenhouse, where Helen cared for the children, cooked for the family and worked in the greenhouse. It was here she developed her lifelong interest in gardening. Helen graduated from Charlotte High School in 1927, moved to Lansing where she graduated from Lansing Business University, and enrolled at Michigan State College during the Great Depression. To support herself in college she worked as a secretary at the college’s medical clinic until she met John G. Davidson. She married “Jack” in 1932 and moved to Eaton Rapids where they had three sons John (Pat), Linton (Arlene), and James (Janet), six grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Helen was a member of the First congregational Church of Eaton Rapids, a Charter member of the Eaton Rapids Hospital Auxiliary, a golfer at Duck Lake Country Club, and a perennial bridge champion.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 3,2 005 from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. Burial followed in the Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make contributions to the First Congregational Church of Eaton Rapids or the Eaton Rapids Medical Center Auxiliary.

April A. Davis

April Anne Davis, 20, of Charlotte, died Sept. 9, 2005.

Ms. Davis was born Sept. 1, 1985 in Charleston, SC, the daughter of Robert J. Fones and Georgia Davis. She enjoyed driving her car, swimming, jogging and eating. She liked spending time with her sister, Whitney, and her friends.

She is survived by her parents, Robert J. Fones and Georgia Davis; her sister, Whitney Davis of Charlotte; two stepbrothers, Joshua Strayer and Aaron Fones of New York; grandparents, Marjorie Ross and Dorothy McHenry; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ben and Ada Mae Davis, and Frank Fones.

A memorial service was held Sept. 17 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rich Mitterling officiating.

Olive M. Daivs

Olive M. Davis, of Onondaga, age 76, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 21, 2005, in Lansing. She was born November 9, 1928, in Detroit, the daughter of Albert K. Earl and Ethel (Harrington) Foster. Olive was an active member of the Mason VFW Jean R. Anderson Post 7309 Auxiliary. She will always be remembered for her love of bingo and garage sales. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Olive is survived by her husband of 57 years, Clyde W.; 4 children, Carol Tibbitts of Ovid, Jeanne (Fred) Davis, Douglas (Connie) Davis, and Daniel Davis, all of Onondaga; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 brother; 3 sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 24, 2005, at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids with interment following at the Onondaga Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association in memory of Olive M. Davis.

Jane B. Davis-Robinson

Jane B. (Sherley) Davis-Robinson, 87, of Charlotte, formerly of Tekonsha, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005 at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.

Mrs. Robinson was born Dec. 29, 1917 in Catlin, Ill., to William and Dora (Cattrell) Sherley. She attended Homer Schools. On April 9, 1933 she married Elwyn Davis; he preceded her in death on July 6, 1982. She then married (Col.) Victor Robinson on Jan. 8, 1985; he preceded her in death in 1987. Jane worked for many years as a restaurant manager for the TeKon Truck Plaza in Tekonsha. She was a member of Marshall Moose Lodge No. 676, the Eastern Star in Tekonsha and the Eagles Lodge in Florida. Jane enjoyed playing bingo and poker. She liked to take trips to the casino, and also enjoyed fishing. She especially liked spending her winters in Florida and going on cruises, but Jane really loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by Gayle Shilling of Marshall, Elaine (Ivan) Powell of Tekonsha, Kenneth (Kay) Davis of Battle Creek, Larry (Eleanor) Davis of Burlington, Stan (Carol) Davis of Tekonsha, Bruce (Deanne) Davis of Charlotte and Ronald Davis of Union City. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Audrey Peterson of Belleville and Alberta Daniel of Arkansas; and two brothers, Charles and George Sherley, both of Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, two infant daughters, grandson Tim Davis, and son-in-law George Shilling.

Funeral services were held Feb. 7 at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home in Marshall.

Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice Home.

Donald DeBolt, Sr.

Donald DeBolt, Sr., age 89, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2005 in Lansing. He was born May 23, 1916 in West Branch, MI, the son of Lester and Lulu DeBolt. Don was a member of the Christian Community Church of Eaton Rapids and the Eaton Rapids Senior Center. He retired from Motor Wheel in 1976 after 32 years of service. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Frederick.

Donald is survived by his wife of 48 years, Evelyn W.; daughter, Linda DeBolt of Lansing; 3 sons, John (Mary) DeBolt, Don (Pat) DeBolt, both of Lansing, and Robert (Ilaree) DeBolt of St. Louis, MI; 1 daughter-in-law, Shirley Frederick of Lowell; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2005 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main St., Eaton Rapids. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:0004:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Christian Community Church or Eaton Rapids Senior Center in memory of Donald DeBolt.

Russell L. Deer

Russell L. Deer, 78,, of Sunfield, passed away Friday, July 1, 2005 at a Lansing Hospital.

He was born Nov. 11, 1926 in Sunfield Twp., the son of Reix and Gladys (Bosworth) Deer. Russell graduated from Sunfield School and lived on a farm in the area all his life. He worked at Fisher Body plant, General Motors, retiring after 33 years.

Russell is survived by a sister, Beatrice (Deer) Claflin and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 6 at Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield, with Rev. Darrel Bosworth officiating. Interment was at Sunfield Cemetery.
