Judith K. Evans

Judith Kay (Powell) Evans, 58, of Hastings, died March 26, 2005 at Thornapple Manor.

Judy was born June 5, 1946 in Lansing, the daughter of Kenneth and Beulah (Pomeroy) Powell. She was raised in the Sunfield area and attended schools there, graduating in 1964 from Lakewood High School in Lake Odessa. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and attended Potterville Church of the Nazarene.

Judy was employed as a waitress in Vermontville for a few years and was an accomplished singer in a country and western band with her husband, Denny, for many years. She married Dennis R. Evans on May 15, 1965; he preceded Judy in death on June 26, 2002. She lived most of her married life in Eaton County, moving to the Hastings area in 1989 from Charlotte.

Special appreciation was expressed for the people at Thornapple Manor and Personal Home Care for making her days as comfortable as possible.

She is survived by a daughter, Teresa (James Jr.) Keel of Charlotte; son, Scott (Melissa) Evans of Delton; five grandchildren, Wendy Perrier, Aleisha Strong, Ryan Evans, Amanda Evans and Kaylee Evans; two brothers, Ralph (Beverly) Powell and Charles (Sally) Powell, both of Harrison; two sisters, Gloria Maden of Florida and Marilyn Currier of Bear Lake; sister-in-law, Yvonne Powell of Harrison; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, granddaughter Rebecca Perrier, and a brother, Wayne Powell.

Funeral services were held March 30 at Wren Funeral Home in Hastings, with Rev. Mark Slocum officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Sebewa Cemetery in Ionia County.

Marcia J. Feldpausch

Marcia Jane Feldpausch, 50, of Charlotte, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005 following a lengthy illness.

Marcia was born June 22, 1955 in Hillsdale, the daughter of Lyle and Ameliamarie (Gasper) Place. Marcia was a self-employed wallpaper installer. While she was in the hospital, she knitted items for Hurricane Katrina victims. She helped others with her “supplemental diet,” collected snowmen and china dolls. Marcia visited Disney World every April and especially enjoyed the Pirates of Caribbean. She always had her Christmas lights up first.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lynch of St. Johns; twin sons, Jeremiah and Nathaniel Grove of Charlotte; grandchildren, Austin, Liam and Marielle Lynch, and Marissa Grove; mother, Marie Place of Bellevue; sisters, Linda Place of Ann Arbor, Rita Clough of Bellevue; and a brother, Lyle Place Jr. of Eagle.

Memorial services were held Oct. 15 at Nashville Baptist Church, with Pastor Lester DeGroot officiating.

Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Charles Fellem Jr.

Charles Edward Fellem Jr., 44, of Albuquerque, NM, formerly of Vermontville, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005.

He is survived by his mother, Delores Fellem of Vermontville; brother, Dennis (Cheryl) Fellem of DeWitt; sister, Cindy (Matthew) Feighner of Lapeer; nephews, Matthew Thatches and Mark Shook; grandnephews, Devon and Avery Shook; and grandniece, Kylee Shook. He was preceded in death by his wife, Robin Fellem, in 2005; and father, Charles Fellem Sr., in 1995.

A private graveside service was held. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Memorial contributions may be made to Kalamo United Methodist Church.

Rita Ann Fernald

Rita Ann Fernald, age 56, of Eaton Rapids, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at the Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte. Rita was born October 8, 1948 in Eaton Rapids the daughter of Darwin and Betty (Snoke) Palmer. Rita was a life resident of Eaton Rapids and had graduated from the Eaton Rapids High School, Class of 1966. She had taken a medical retirement from working for FASCO Motors with over 20 years of service. Rita enjoyed antiquing, painting, gardening and decorating. She was preceded in death by her father, Darwin.

Surviving are 3 children, Jon Fernald, Carrie (Scott) Twichell and Rhonda Bodell all of Eaton Rapids; 6 grandchildren, Kylee Foote, Joeb Fernald, Kristin Twichell, Anthony Twichell, Stephen Bodell and Kathryn Bodell; mother, Betty Palmer of Eaton Rapids; brothers, Ray (Velda) Palmer and Ned (Teri) Palmer all of Eaton Rapids; several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. For those desiring, memorial gifts may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice at 2675 S. Cochran Rd. Charlotte, MI 48813 in memory of Rita A. Fernald.

Carolyn R. Fickes

Carolyn Rose Fickes, 72, of Vermontville, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005.

Mrs. Fickes was born Oct. 28, 1932 in Warsaw, Ind., the daughter of Russell H. and Layretta C. (Ransbotlom) Kelly. She was a member of Vermontville Bible Church and she loved her Lord and her family. She was a Health Care Facility administrator and sold Tupperware for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Fickes; sons, Mark S. (Julie) Scott of South Bend, Ind., Robert A. (Myna) Scott of North Carolina; daughter, Cheryl Vanscoyk of North Carolina; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Jeannie) Kelly of Utah, Larry (Linda) Kelly of California; sisters, Louise (Forrest) Dunnick of Indiana, Marlene (Jerry) Shand of Arizona, Alice (Wilmer) of Indiana and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service was held April 30 at Vermontville Bible Church, with Pastor Chuck Steiner officiating. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vermontville Bible Church. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Hildegard E. Field

Hildegard Ernestine Field, 65, of Potterville, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at Ingham Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Field was born Oct. 6, 1939 in Ascheffenburg, Germany, the daughter of Johann Ferdinand and Maria (Bauer) Otto. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the St. Mary Women’s Group. She was a seamstress and loved going to their cottage up north.

She is survived by her husband, James A. Field; daughter, Pamela (Bill) Haviland of Bellevue; son, Edward James of Kansas City, Mo.; grandchildren, Jennifer Haviland and E.J. Field; brother, Theo (Hanna) Otto of Germany; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass was celebrated May 20 at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Denis R. Spitzley officiating. Interment was at West Windsor Cemetery in Dimondale. Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Darlene A. Finnie

Darlene Alice Finnie, 56, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005.

Mrs. Finnie was born April 8, 1949 in Woodstock, Ill., the daughter of Paul Murdock and Alice (Pierson) Murdock. Darlene was a nurse and an active member of Peace Lutheran Church. She was also a 4-H leader for 30 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Shannon (Gerald) Chapman of Charlotte; sons, Alan (Lisa) Finnie of Hudsonville and Peter Finnie of Ann Arbor; one grandchild; companion, Bruce Milke; brothers, Dave (Judy) Murdock of Atlanta, Ga., and Kevin (Savitri) Murdock.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Finnie, and a brother, Paul “Buddy” Murdock.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 20 at Peace Lutheran Church, Charlotte, with Rev. J. Todd Bruning officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Kalamo. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Memorial contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Cindy Kay Fisher

Cindy Kay (Bodell) Fisher, 53, of Apollo Beach, Fla., formerly of Potterville and Eaton Rapids, passed away on Thursday, June 16 with her family at her side.

Cindy had fought hard for seven long years and through the love of her husband and her faith she was given time for family to enjoy her love, cheerfulness and guidance. Her strength through her struggle with cancer and the knowledge of natural medicine was an inspiration to the people she had met. Cindy had always been there for people in good times and in bad, protecting them from grief. She will forever be missed by her friends and family.

Cindy was preceded in death by her father Thomas R. Bodell.

She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister and is survived by husband James; mother, Helen Bodell; sons, Jeremy Moellering and Jason (Kathryn) Fisher; daughter, Stacey Fisher; sisters, Vicki (Chuck) Carey and Tammy (Ron) Howard.

Graveside memorial services will be held Thursday, June 30 at 1 p.m. at the Brickyard Cemetery in rural Eaton Rapids, with a gathering following at the Eaton Rapids Conservation Club.

Memorial gifts may be made to Life Path Hospice at 3725 Upper Creek Drive, Ruskin, FL 33573.

Edgar R. Fleetham

Edgar Robert Fleetham, 90, of Sunfield, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005.

He was born Nov. 19, 1914 on the family farm in Sunfield, where he lived his entire life, the son of Floyd H. and Lilly Lauretta (Shaw) Fleetham. Edgar and Rosa were married 71 years. He considered his more than 71 years of marriage to his high school sweetheart and his family his greatest achievement and blessing. Mr. Fleetham was a lifelong member of Sunfield United Methodist Church and lived as a witness to his Lord. He was involved in many areas of church service. A few of his community activities include a 50-plus year member of the Sunfield Lions Club. He served 57 years as an elected local and regional official, some of which include: township supervisor and county commissioner for 38 years, 25-year member of the Barry/Eaton Health Department, served as acting director for 2 ½ years, 22-year member of the Clinton-Eaton-Ingham Community Mental Health board (chair for five consecutive terms), and always offered a helping hand to anyone in need.

Surviving are his wife, Rosa (Beland) Fleetham; four children, Jeannine (Cecil) Rogers of Sunfield, Anne Merrill of Lansing, Floyd (Sheryl) of Grand Haven, Terry (Marsha) of Jonesville; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sister, Fern Bigelow of Indiana; and brother, Durwood of Arizona.

Edgar was preceded in death by both his parents; a brother, George; and a sister, Lucinda.

Funeral services were held Oct. 17 at Sunfield United Methodist Church. Interment service followed at Sunfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brad Dow, Scott Dow, Cecil Rogers, Blane Rogers, Brian Fleetham and Eric Fleetham. Honorary pallbearers were Dick Fender, John Fisher, Tim Rumfield, Al Starr, Harold Hanna, Jerry Gilbert, Ray Wilcox, Marvin Rodgers, Bill Farman and Red James.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sunfield United Methodist Church, Sunfield Library, S.P.Y.’s, or the Lions Club. Arrangements were by Rosier Funeral Home, Sunfield.
