Ueberroth, Mark Albert
Lansing, MI

“We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams.”

On March 31, 2003 at approximately 11:00 a.m., a remarkable man, Mark Albert Ueberroth, was taken from us. He was an instrument of peace, compassion and love. His life played in deep and throaty tones often difficult for some of us to hear, but touching every heart he encountered in a significant way. Now it is silent. Like a candle quickly blown out or a book with the final page missing, we are suddenly left to wonder, why? One moment present, then suddenly gone, he was the bearer of a heart made too heavy by the burdens of life delivered to it, deserving better but never asking for it, content to respond to every encounter with his unceasing reply: To Love. He leaves three grown children, Sharla (Scott) Caro of Georgia, Marisa Ueberroth of Lowell, Travis Ueberroth of Lansing and two small children, Arthur Vincent Ueberroth and Ariel London Ueberroth, both of Lansing. Though each of them still desperately need him in their own ways, they will now be forced to make a way of their own without his counsel, but strengthened by all that he has taught them. He leaves several brothers and sisters and many of you whom he considered to be brothers and sisters, though born to another family. He leaves 4 grandchildren, Crystal, Scotty, Adrian and Brandon, who were his joy whenever the opportunity arose for them to spend time together. And his parents, Mary Jane and Winfield Ueberroth, who Mark considered to be the most remarkable people in this life. And he leaves me. His loving wife, Oralya, who understood too little, argued too much and loved him beyond reason. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with the Rev. Cecile Pierce Nightingale of The Light House Chapel officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Peace Team, 1516 Jerome Street, Lansing, MI 48912, in memory of Mark.
