Rostorfer, Marguerite N. "Marge"
Lansing, MI

Age 70, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2002. She was born on Decembe 21, 1931 in Lansing, the daughter of Gailey R. and Genevieve (Clark) Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rostorfer in July; 1 brother; and 2 sisters. She is survived by: son, John (Pam) Moffitt; daughter, Sandy (Mickey) Fountain; step-daughter, Renee (Greg) Mersino; grandchildren, Michael and Jordynn Fountain, Laura Olson and Nichole and Amber Mersino; 1 brother; 2 sisters; several nieces and nephews; and special nephew, Jerry (Darlene) Wilson. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, March 1, 2002 at Deepdale Mausoleum, with the Rev. Wesley Emerson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lansing, Inc., 6035 Executive Dr., Suite 103, Lansing, MI 48911.

Ruttan, Alvin Floyd

Lansing, MI

Age 94, passed away on January 30, 2003 at the home of his daughter Gail. He was born on September 24, 1908 in Huntsville, Ontario, Canada, the son of John H. and Annie (Cryderman) Ruttan. He was employed with Board of Water and Light, Moores Park Plant for over 42 years and attended the First Presbyterian Church of Dimondale. Alvin learned to fly at a very young age and enjoyed riding Harley’s for over 50 years. He was always cheerful and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by: his beloved wife, Ethelyn; 1 grandson; and 2 brothers. He is survived by: daughters, Kay (Jerry) Burns and Gail Ruttan, both of Lansing; 4 grandchildren, Diane Burns, Carl Eyer and Kelly (Franklin) Brown, all of Lansing, and Jon-Marc (Lori) Eyer of Florida; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Rose Harrington of St. Johns and Dorothy Weimer of Phoenix, AZ. A memorial service to celebrate the lives of both Alvin and his wife, Ethelyn, will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lansing or to the First Presbyterian Church of Dimondale – Building Fund.

Wilson, Barbara J.

Lansing, MI

Barbara, age 80, passed away on April 5, 2003. She was born on August 7, 1922 in Detroit, and lived in the Lansing area most of her life. Barbara, along with her husband, Robert K. Wilson, owned and operated the Grand River Hardware during the 1980’s. She was a member of the Lansing Aerie #1039, F.O. Eagles; the DeWitt Chapter of the Women of the Moose; the 40 et 8 Chateau Auxilary #946 and Capitol City Post #12, American Legion Auxilary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert K. Wilson in 1992. Surviving are: sons, Stephen K. Wilson of Irvine, CA, and R. David (Sharon) Wilson of Haslett; 3 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kerry) Wilson, Michael Wilson, and Kimber (Bradley) Peterson; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 40 et 8 Chateau in memory of Barbara J. Wilson.

Minnick, Pauline L

Of Holt formerly of Wayne

Age 83, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 23, 2001. Pauline was a teacher during a portion of her working life, and received a Bachelors Degree from Lebanon College in Pennsylvania. Pauline was avid doll collector, and was proud of her Pennsylvania/Dutch Heritage. She was preceded in death by her husband; Edward Minnick in 2001. Pauline is survived by two sons; Ted (Francine) Minnick of Mason, Dr. Steven (Patricia) Minnick of Grosse Point, six grandsons; Kimberly (Jill), Matthew, Nickolas, Yuri, Nathaniel, David, 1 granddaughter; Elyse, 1 great-granddaughter; Madeline Minnick, sister; Frances Shaak-Patrick of Walnut Creek, CA., niece; Polly Ann Smith. There was a funeral mass on Saturday, August 25, 2001 at 2 PM in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in East Lansing. The family received friends from 1:30 PM on Saturday until time of service. Internment will follow at Leak Cemetery in Mason, MI. Arrangements by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.

Lischkge, June S. (nee: Matter)

Lansing, MI
Age 76 passed away on January 20, 2003. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Edwin J. Leyanna Post #671, V.F.W., Ladies Auxiliary. She was the manager of the Cedar Chest Junior League, retiring in 1988 after 29 years. Mrs. Lischkge volunteered at the Boars Head Theater. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit in 1990, and granddaughter, Jamie Lischkge; sister, Peg Newcomb; and brother, Max Matter. Surviving are: 3 children, Penny (Stephen) Chvojka, Larry (Louann) Lischkge; Kathleen (Ted) Feight; 13 grandchildren, Mike (Nancy) Bateman of Ypsilanti, Chris (Sophia) Dunsmore, of Seoul, S. Korea, Scott Chvojka of San Jose, CA, Seth Foster of Breckenridge, Shelly Lischkge (Rick), Kim (Doug) Beleher, Jason Merrifield, Luke (Sheena) Stemler, Douglas Stemler, Brian Corden (Tarwyn), Jay Feight (Sarah), Richard (Belen) Feight and James Daryl Feight; 13 great grandchildren, Matthew, Steven, Robbie, Dylan, Justin, Ericka, Jacob, Hannah, Torie, Jaysha, Bailey, Austyn and Cherie Ann. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with Rev. Kate DeMougin of Unity of Greater Lansing officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans in memory of June Lischkge.

Dorer, Sally A.

Mason, MI

Age 59, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter, passed away on October 10, 2002. She was born on February 5, 1943 in Lansing, MI, the daughter of John Z. and Sena (Shaw) Sepaneck. She was associated with the Michigan Chamber of Commerce for 39 years; was a 1961 graduate of Lansing Everett High School; and attended Ferris State University. She was preceded in death by her father, John “Jack” Sepaneck in 1988. She is survived by: husband, Royce A. Dorer; son, Scott (Jodi) Dorer of Holt; daughter, Wendy (Stephen) Rosinski of Northville; 4 grandchildren, Zachary and Alexis Dorer and Julia and Paige Rosinski; mother, Sena Sepaneck; Father-in-law, Benard P. Dorer of Gladwin; sister, Susan (Chuck) Cassidy of Lansing; sister-in-law, Joyce (Royce) Brown of St. Johns; brothers-in-law, Guy (Dolores) Dorer of Lansing and Benard (Janet) Dorer of DeWitt. Sally will be remembered by many loving friends. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at Plymouth Congregational Church, 2001 E. Grand River, Lansing, with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd M. Hall, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Leek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw, Lansing.. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ingham County Animal Shelter.

Simon, John Louis, II

Lansing, MI

Age 62, passed away on May 22, 2003. He was born to John L. Simon and Dorothy (Kirkconnell) Simon on August 20, 1940 in Lansing, and attended Eastern High School, and served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Mr. Simon was employed by Warner/Swasey as a Union Steward. He was also a laborer in the construction industry, in addition to working for Art Craft Display and F&M Security. He was a gun enthusiast, and enjoyed traveling. He was a proud member of the NRA, Eagles Club and American Legion of Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynne P. Simon, and his father, John L. Simon, I, and brother, James K. Simon. Surviving are: 2 daughters, Michelle (Steven) Schmidt of Niger, W. Africa, and Carol Anne (Robert) Ramos of Eaton Rapids; 5 grandchildren, his mother, Dorothy Simon of Gladwin; brother, Tom (Mary) Simon of DeWitt; sister, Sandra (Waren Toliver) Simon of Bath, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 6-8 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, or to the American Cancer Society in memory of John Louis Simon.

Hafelein, Alice

Lansing, MI

Age 90, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2002. She was born on December 15, 1911 in Detroit, the daughter of William and Honoura (Crabb) Hookway. She was a long-time member and former secretary of Grace Lutheran Church and worked as a typist for Oldsmobile for 27 years, retiring in 1972. She was also a member of the Quarter Century Club and Oldsmobile Women's Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Hafelein, and their son, Barry. She is survived by: son, David (Sharon) Hafelein of Fraser; and grandchildren, Matthew and Jill Hafelein. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, March 14, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with the Rev. Alan W. Kamens of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. The family received friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 13, 2002. Interment followed in South Ovid Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, the Capital Area Humane Society, or Ingham Regional Medical Center-Pulmonary Rehab. The family would like to thank the staff of Burcham Hills Retirement Center for their exceptional care for the past two years.

Roggow, Lucille W.

East Lansing, MI

Age 88, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2002. She was born on December 1, 1913 in Mt. Pleasant, MI and lived in the Lansing area all of her life. She attended Judson Memorial Baptist Church; was a 1931 graduate of Lansing Eastern High School; and was employed with the State of Michigan for 20 years, retiring from the State Library in 1982. She enjoyed making ceramic dolls, doll clothing, and jewelry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert R. Roggow, Sr. in 1976. Surviving are: 2 sons, Albert R.. Jr. (Pat) Roggow of Lansing and James Montgomery (Cindy) Roggow of Puyallup, WA; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Jean Hannon of CA; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, February 15, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Frank M. McAuley of Judson Memorial Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family received friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., on Thursday, February 14, 2002. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, in memory of Mrs. Roggow.
