Feldpausch, Michael L. “Mike”

Holt
Age 56, passed away on January 9, 2005 with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 25, 1948 in Lansing, and lived in Holt most of his life. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army as a track Commander Sergeant, and was employed at Motor Wheel for many years, then at Wyeth Corporation, and most recently at Dart Container Company. He loved hunting and black powder shoots. Surviving are: his wife, Sharon; children, Scott (Barb) Gilmore of Holt, Shawn (Wayne) Parkhurst, Michael (Jennifer), Justin (Lori Payne), all of Lansing; grandchildren, Daniel, Debra, Imagyn, Jake, and Joseph; mother, Beverly Feldpausch of Holt; 2 brothers, Richard of Holt and Robert of Charlotte; sister, Pamela (Reg) Smith of Eaton Rapids; sister-in-law, Diane (Jud) Brouse of Carmel, IN; 6 nieces; 4 nephews and many grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Feldpausch. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2005 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, with Chaplain Gary DeVries officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, where there will be military honors. . The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Michael Feldpausch.

Fellows, Edna Viola

Lansing, MI

Born on December 12, 1917 in Flint, passed away on December 27, 2004 at the age of 87. Edna was a graduate of Flint Northern High School and worked as a Dental Assistant to Dr. Fred Sherman. She was a member of the Lansing Seventh Day Adventist Church for 54 years and was active with the Community Service Center for 21 years, acting as Treasurer and Assistant Director. She also worked as an Avon Sales Person for 20 years. Edna was preceded in death by 2 great grandchildren, Matthew Penrod and Victoria Nichols. Surviving are: her husband of 67 years, Merritt Fellows; daughter, Linda (David) Penrod of Battle Creek; son, Gordon (Karen) Fellows of Dexter; 4 grandchildren, Lanette (Eric) Nichols, Mark (Karen) Penrod, Lisa Fellows, and Lori Fellows; 4 great grandchildren, Luke, Jonathan, Emily, and Erin Penrod; sister, Dorothy Poursine; and 2 nephews, Gary and Doug Rhodes. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 in the chapel at Delta Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Service Center, Lansing Seventh Day Adventist Church, 5400 W. St. Joseph Hwy., Lansing, MI 48917.

Fink, Pauline Louise
Lansing, MI

Age 88, passed away peacefully in the care of Hospice House of Mid-Michigan on Thursday, October 03, 2002. She was born on February 4, 1914 in Edmore, MI. After her marriage to Henry E. Fink, she and her husband resided in Lansing, where she was a homemaker and member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. Pauline is survived by: sons, Earl H. (Nancy) Fink of Petoskey and David J. Fink of Lansing; daughters, Rosemary P. (Michael) Meli of Staten Island, NY and Linda L. (Michael) McAlvey of Okemos; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Gerald of Edmore and George Hatinger of Vestaburg. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Henry E. Fink in 1979; 1 sister; 2 brothers; and a special friend and companion, Harold E. Nelson. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2002 at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ingham County Humane Society or Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.

Jean, Frances J.

Holt, MI

Age 73, passed away on July 26, 2002. She was born on April 6, 1929 in Lansing, and has lived in the Lansing/Holt area all of her life. Mrs. Jean was a member of Church of the Resurrection and a member of Lansing Aerie #1039, F.O. Eagles Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 1979; parents, George and Edith Brisbo; and son-in-law, Keith Hill. Surviving are: 7 children, Cecelia Jean of Holt, Severin Jean, Debbie Hill, Libbie and Janice Jean and Joe and Tina Jean, all of Lansing, Tom and Julie Jean of Arkansas, Sue and Walt Newberry of Lansing; grandchildren, Kevin and Mary Hill, Chris and Beth Newberry, Jake Snover, Joe Jr., Sally, Kyle, Halie, Anthony, Brandon, Dustin, Katlin, Tyler and Sierra Jean and Melanie, Amy, Luke and Kim Heyboer; sisters, Pearl, Deto and Betty. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, August 1, 2002, at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, with The Rev. Fr. William J. Koenigsknecht officiating. The rite of committal will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., on Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society in memory of Frances J. Jean

Forbis, Robert W.

East Lansing, MI

Age 77, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2002. He was born in Lansing on March 19, 1924 and has been a lifelong resident. He was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater, and was a member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V. He had been a Lansing area businessman having owned Robert's Pet and Garden on W. Saginaw, and Peninsula Distributors. He retired at age 45 and enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing in the Houghton Lake area and the Great Lakes. He and his wife of 55 years, Marvel, were able to travel and winter in Florida. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Marvel; 2 sons, Greg Forbis of DeWitt and Gary (Lynette) Forbis of Dimondale; 3 grandchildren, Rob, Gary, Jr. (Laura) and Lauren; 2 sisters, Marguerite Schultz and Maxine Schomp. There will be no visitation or service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, C/O Sparrow Foundation, or the American Cancer Society.

Mericle, Stephen “Craig”

Laingsburg, MI

Age 53, passed away on March 15, 2003. He was born on October 27, 1949 in Jackson, MI the son of Boyd and Mary Louise (Baker) Mericle. He was an avid golfer and was employed by the Ingham Counseling Center. Surviving are his mother, Mary Mericle, one brother, Brian (Dawn) Mericle, one sister, Marcia (Jim) Hogle, six nieces and nephews, four great nieces and nephews, life long friend, Sally Ford, cat Spanker Mericle and dog, Barley Sunshine. Preceding him in death was his father Boyd Mericle. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with the Cecil Pierce Nightengale, Minister Lighthouse Chapel officiating. Interment will follow in Roseland Cemetery, in Jackson, MI. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent’s Home for Children, 2800 W. Willow, Lansing, MI. 48917

Foren, Judy A.
Lansing
Age 57, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2005. She was born on August 31, 1947 in Lansing to G. David and Orchid (Alexander) Foren. Judy had been employed at MSU for 36 years before retiring. She was a member of Mt. Hope Church. She enjoyed traveling and reading and had a special love for her church, family, and friends. She is survived by: sister, Cathy (Paul) Kehren of Colorado; 2 nephews, Douglas (Elizabeth) and Timothy Kehren both of Colorado and many aunts, uncles, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2005, at Mt. Hope Church, 202 Creyts Rd., with the Pastor Ross McElroy officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to the American Cancer Society in memory of Judy.

Galka, Theodore J. “Ted”

Lansing, MI

Our loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2003 at the age of 81. He was born on December 23, 1921 in Lansing, the son of Theodore J. Galka, Sr. and Sadie (Beadle) Galka. Ted was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving 3 1/2 years during WWII. He led his platoon during the D-Day landing on Normandy Beach and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. While he was overseas during WWII he spent leave time with his wife’s family in Paris, France. Following the war Ted spent 26 years in the Michigan National Guard, retiring as Lt.Colonel. Ted was Manager of Office and Building Services for Oldsmobile, retiring in 1982 after 41 years of loyal service. He was also a life member of the Elks Lodge in both Lansing and Englewood, FL. Ted was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Morrell in 1999. Surviving are: his wife of 60 years, Georgette (Dubois) Galka of Lansing; son, Tom (Bev) Galka of Okemos; 3 grandchildren, Mike, Holly and Carrie; brother, Harold Galka; sisters, Phyllis (Frank) Beery and Jeanette (Stan) Morrison; and many loving nieces, nephews and long time Michigan and Florida friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of 8th Floor Oncology at Sparrow Hospital for their loving care. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2003 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with Mr. Greg Morrison, nephew of Mr. Galka, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Theodore J. Galka, Jr.
