Restaurateur Gene Finn treated staff like family

Gene Frank Finn, longtime restaurateur and horse owner, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. He was 83.

"He always had a love of cooking and enjoyed good food, " said his daughter, Martha Trenkamp, of Savoy, Ill.

He and his wife, Christine, opened their first Jerry's franchise in Park Hills in the 1960s. It became a family business in more ways than one. His wife and children worked there, and the rest of his staff were like family, too, Mrs. Trenkamp said.
