Kathleen Quinn, 80, 'everybody loved her'

Kathleen Quinn, mother of former Kenton District Judge James D. Godsey, died at 8:05 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South.

She was 80.

Mrs. Quinn had worked much of her life. She was a hostess at the Shillito's Tea Room in Cincinnati as a young woman.

She also was head desk clerk at the Lamplighter Hotel in Fort Mitchell and was switchboard operator for Escue Pontiac until 1975.

"She was a wonderful woman. Everybody loved her, " said her husband, William Quinn, former Kenton County deputy clerk.

She also helped in the Kenton County sheriff's office during tax time for years, he said. < p> She grew up in Ludlow and later lived in Covington.

She was an avid euchre player and enjoyed crochet.

"She was a pretty good handicapper at the race track, " her husband said. "We went to River Downs."

Mrs. Quinn had emphysema for nearly 15 years.

She had been a member of Ludlow Senior Center and Ludlow Civic Club.

Survivors include her husband, of Covington, and her son, Fort Mitchell.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Chapel in Erlanger. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to St. Charles Care Center, 500 Farrell Drive, Covington, 41011, or to the charity of choice.

Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy E. Alexander, 73, of Covington, died at 8:35 p.m . Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

She was retired from National Distillery. Her husband, John Alexander, died in 1992.

Survivors include her sons, John A. Wong of Detroit, Mich., Paul E. Wong of Huber Heights, Ohio, and Stanley R. Williams of Covington; daughters, Jennie M. Wiehoff of Latonia, Anthia F. Hansen of Red Bay, Ala., and Gina Wash of Alexandria; brothers, Billie Radmer of Red Bay and Ronnie Radmer of St. Joseph, Mo.; sisters, Sylvia Hanson of Middletown, Ohio, and Lovina Longaberger of Independence; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Encarnacion Alvarez, 37, of Covington, died at 7:25 a.m. Thursday at University Hospital, Cincinnati.

He was a driver for Ivax Corp., Walton.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Aguillar; sons, Miguel Alvarez Aguillar and Enrique Alvarez Aguillar; a daughter, Rufina Elizabeth Alvarez; a brother, Jesus Alvarez; and a sister, Josefa Alvarez. All are from Xantinal Primero, Quiche Guatemala;

Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Covington. Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Guatemala.

Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling the arrangements.

Bobbie Jean Campbell, 64, of Foster, died Friday at her home.

She was a clerk. Her daughters, Denise Campbell and Donna Campbell, both preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Lewis Campbell of Foster; daughters, Diane Blanton of Amelia, Ohio, and Patricia Russell of Foster; a sister, Phyllis Henry of Louisville; brothers, James Jarvis of Indiana and Jerry Jarvis of Amelia; and two granddaughters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Johnsville Cemetery, Foster.

Ardella Cooley, 88, of Florence, died Friday at Woodspoint Geriatric Care Center.

She was a homemaker and a member of Big Bone Baptist Church, Union. Her husband, Bland Cooley, died in 1985.

Survivors include a son, Rick Cooley of Bromley; daughters, Nancy Carol Mayfield of Union and Cendia Rowe of Burlington; a stepson, William Cooley of Erlanger; stepdaughters, Janie Prather of South Carolina, Myrna Pope of Somerset and Marlene Ament of Erlanger; six grandchildren, 13 stegrandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Big Bone Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will be in Big Bone Baptist Cemetery, Union.

Memorials are suggested to Big Bone Baptist Church, 11036 Big Bone Church Rd., Union, Ky. 41091.

Donald W. Enzweiler Sr., 81, of Erlanger, died at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday at East Galbreath Nursing Home Cincinnati.

He was a retired lithographer with Stobridge Printing Co., Norwood, Ohio, and an usher with the Cincin nati Reds and Bengals, and a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Newport, and Fort Thomas Retired Men's Club.

Survivors include his sons, Donald W. Enzweiler of Ver sailles and William K. Enzweiler of Erlanger; a sister, Janet Hewling of Fort Thomas; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. at Tues day Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ever green Cemetery, Southgate.

Genevieve Stephens Galloway, 89, of Independence, died at 1:40 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Cen ter South, Edgewood.

She was a former co-owner of H & S Grocery, Independence.

Survivors include her husband, L.M. Galloway of Independence.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Inde pendence Cemetery.

Katherine Mary Gosney, 99, of Be llvue, died Friday at the Baptist Con valescent Center in Newport.

Funeral arrangements are pending at A. C. Dobbling Funeral Home in Bellevue.

Harry C. Hill, 78, of Aberdeen, Ohio, died Thursday at Ohio Valley Manor, Ripley, Ohio.

He was a night watchman for Jan uary & Wood Co., Maysville, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Maysville.

Survivors include his sister, Mar tha Pitts of Maysville; and a brother, Herbert H. Hill of Cincinnati.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brell Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery.

Lillian "Shirley" Jackson, 64, of Bromley, died Tuesday at her home.

She was a cab driver.

Survivors include her sons, Ron nie Jackson of Bromley, David McKenzie of Southgate, Jim McKen zie of Jacksonville, Fla., and Robert McKenzie and Russell McKenzie, both of Newport; daughters, Lucy Samrah of Bromley and Kathy McKenzie of Southgate; brothers, Linville Lloyd of Dayton, Ohio, Dennis Todd of Georgia and Ron Todd of Newport; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Evergreen cemetery Chapel, Southgate. Burial will be in Ever green Cemetery, Southgate.

Linda Meister, 61, of Butler, for merly of Columbus, Ohio, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

She was a teacher for the Grand view Heights City Schools, Grand view Heights, Ohio, an instructor for Huntington Learning Center and Syl van Learning Center, and Grandview Heights Teacher of the Year in 1988-89.

She was also listed in Who's Who Among American Teachers.

Survivors include her sister, Kay Mays of of Butler.

Services will be at noon Monday at St. James Episcopal Church, Colum bus, Ohio. Burial will be in Stower Family Cemetery, West Virginia.

Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

William L. Myers, 77, of St. Pe tersburg, Fla., formerly of Dayton, died Tuesday at his home.

He was a transmission inspector with Ford Motor Co., Cincinnati, and a member of St. Bernard Church, Dayton.

He attended St. Jude Church in St. Petersburg. His wife, Geraldine Myers, preceded him in death.

Survivors include daughters, Carmella "Decca" Buechel of Fort Thomas, Barbara Ryan of Cov ington and Donna Zorns of Newport; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard Church, Dayton. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Robert Vernon Proffitt, 62, of Bata via, Ohio, died Friday at Mercy Hospital, Anderson Township, Ohio.

He was a pastor for New Jerusalem Church of God of Christ, Cincinnati, a mechanic for Jim Beam Co., Cincinnati, and a past president of the distillers union.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Proffitt of Batavia; sons, John Proffitt and Robbie Proffitt, both of Cincinnati; daughters, Susan Spence of Charleston, S.C., and Vickie Spiers of Cincinnati; brothers, Ralph Proffitt of Brookville, Ind., and Maynard Proffitt of Fort Mitchell; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Peach Grove Cemetery, Peach Grove.

Bernard W. "Bud" "Whitey" Schrage, 86, of Fort Wright, formerly of Erlanger, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

He was a machinist for Aluminum Industries, Cincinnati, and worked at Hater Industries Inc., Riverside, Ohio.

He also was a member of St. Henry Church, Elsmere, Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus, Father Bealer Council, Holy Name Society of St. Henry Church, and Tri-County Seniors. In addition, he was a Knothole Baseball Coach in Erlanger.

His wife, Cecilia M. "Ceil" Kallmeyer Schrage, died in 1996, and a daughter, Lorraine Marie Schrage, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son, Bernard F. Schrage of Union; daughters, LaVerne A. Ferguson of Louisville and Mary L. Collins of Winston Salem, N.C.; a brother, James T. Schrage of Indianapolis, Ind.; sisters, Mary "Marcella" Schrage of Fort Wright and Mary Virginia Cleary of Columbus, Ohio; and six grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Henry Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

Norma Scroggins, 68, of Covington, died at 3 p.m. Friday at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.

Gladys E. Young, 89, of Covington, died at 3 p.m. Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati.

She was a salesperson for H.S. Po gue Co., Cincinnati. Her husband, Maurice Young, died in 1996.

Survivors include her son, Rich ard Young of Covington; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Catchen Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
