Paul Vernon Harris, respected educator

An educator for many years, Paul Vernon Harris ended his career teaching inmates at the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex, Oldham County.

"He enjoyed working with them. He didn't ask why they were there, only how he could help them be better once they were on the outside, " said his wife of 57 years, Virginia Lowry Harris.

"He taught them how to do architectural, mechanical and graphical work. Some of these inmates, with his help, built outdoor shelters and a model of the complex that is still there to this day. He respected them and they respected him."
