Donald J. Kramer, 72, former employee of The Kentucky Post

Donald J. Kramer took a job as copy boy at The Kentucky Post in 1943 and recruited his brother, Tom Kramer, when another copy boy position opened.

"I was working at an A&P.; He told me about the copy boy job, and I went down there and got it, " said Tom Kramer, of Villa Hills.

"It turned out to be a good thing" for Tom Kramer, who would become a long-time sports writer for The Post.

Donald Kramer, 72 died Tuesday night at Mercy Franciscan Hospital in Cincinnati.

Mr. Kramer, a Covington native, served two years in the Army in Germany.

He worked about a dozen years at The Post, where he last was an advertising salesman.

Mr. Kramer was an avid bowler and next managed the Ten Pin Bowl in Erlanger.

He also repaired appliances such as refrigerators for a shop in Cincinnati.

Mr. Kramer moved to Galveston, Texas, in 1980 and opened his own repair shop.

He lived nearly 20 years in Texas, but returned to Northern Kentucky early this year after he became seriously ill.

Mr. Kramer was placed in a nursing home and last week was transferred to Mercy Franciscan after suffering another in a series of strokes.

In his earlier days, Mr. Kramer was active in sports. He was a member of a football team that played Cincinnati teams Sundays at the old Covington ball park on Philadelphia Street.

Benny Warren, a former teammate, said he, Mr. Kramer and other members of a boys' gang called the Goat Pen Gang started the team in 1945.

They later had sponsors like Covington Merchants, Lou & Joe, and Trolley Tavern.

"Don was a good player, " Warren said. "He played end and had good hands."

Pete Rose's father played on one of the Cincinnati teams, Warren said.

Mr. Kramer also played softball for Heidel's Hall in Peaselburg.

Other survivors include brothers, Robert Kramer of Lakeside Park and Paul Kramer of Edgewood; and sisters, Patricia Kenney of Park Hills, Carol Stokes of Middletown, Ohio, and Joyce Wallace of Delaware, Ohio.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 644 Linn Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202 or the American Parkinson's Disease Association.

Hazel L. Ashley, 77, of Erlanger, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a sales clerk with the former H&S; Pogue Department Store, Cincinnati, and McAlpin's Department Stores, was a member of Erlanger United Methodist Church and an Erlanger Lioness. Her husband, Thomas E. Ashley Sr., died in 1998.

Survivors include sons, Thomas E. Ashley Jr. of Burlington, William "Joe" Ashley of Fort Wright and John "Kevin" Ashley of Florence; daughters, Lisa Ashley of Walton and Diane Eilers and Linda Marley, both of Erlanger; sister, Jeanette Mitchell of Bluefield, Va.; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Erlanger United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Erlanger United Methodist Church, 31 Commonwealth Ave., Erlanger, Ky. 41018, or American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2, Florence, Ky. 41042.

James P. Clay, 59, of Covington, died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

He was a retired Employees Service Coordinator for the Kentucky Department of Employment Services, a member of Immanuel Methodist Church, Lakeside Park, an active leader in Russell Street Alcoholics Anonymous Club, Covington, and had his own television programs, "The Northern Kentucky Job Connection Show" and "Veterans Only, " on cable Channels 6 and 48.

Survivors include sons, Marc Clay and Mick Clay, both of Independence; daughters, Annie Clay-Allouache of Villa Hills and Katie Clay of Independence; mother, Beaulah Clay Plummer of Ashland; and sister, Jeannie Clay Pinson of Williamson, W.Va.

Services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 4:45 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Russell Street Alcoholics Anonymous Club, 722 Washington St., Covington, Ky. 41011.

Chase Anthony Dudderar, 6 months, of Edgewood, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday at Children's Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

Survivors include his parents, Chris and Angie Dudderar of Edgewood; paternal grandparents, Gary and Jackie Dudderar of Edgewood; maternal grandparents, Al and Peggy Kenkel of Edgewood; paternal great-grandparents, John and Ginny Dudderar of Taylor Mill, and Jack McKeown of Latonia; and maternal great-grandmother, Virginia Berhiet of Fort Wright.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. Timothy Church, Union. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Baby Chase Dudderar Memorial Fund, c/o Fifth Third Bank, 3003 Dixie Highway, Edgewood, Ky. 41017.

Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Margaret M. Fields, 62, of Covington, died at 2:05 p.m. June 30 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was retired from Booth Hospital, Covington.

Survivors include sons, Joseph Gallegher and Timothy Gallegher, both of Covington; daughter, Brenda Watts of Covington; sister, Cynthia Willis of Covington; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Crucifix Baptist Church, Covington. Cremation will be in Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. There will be no visitation.

Catchen Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

John Robert Hutchinson, 52, of Erlanger, died Sunday at his home. He was retired from the Air Force.

Survivors include sons, Kelson Hutchinson and Joey Hutchinson, both of Erlanger; daughters, Rhonda O'Dell and Marie McMannon, both of Kernersville, N.C.; parents, John and Mae Hutchinson, both of Erlanger; brothers, Preston Hutchinson of Dry Ridge and Kevin Hutchinson of Erlanger; sister, Teresa Ramler of Erlanger; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. He has donated his body to the University of Cincinnati Medical School.

Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere, is handling arrangements.

Jeffrey Alan Kirby, 40, of Cincinnati, and formerly of Northern Kentucky, died at 7:37 a.m. Thursday at his home. He was a mover for A-i City Movers, Cincinnati.

Survivors include a son, Jeff Kirby of Cincinnati; parents, Ernest and Mary Pfaff of Cincinnati; sisters, Debra Kirby of Cincinnati, Melissa Kirby of Blanchester, Ohio, and Tracey King of Hebron; brother, Steve Kirby of Milford, Ohio; and fiance, Candy Nance of Cincinnati.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Cecil M. Littleton, 68, of Covington, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a retired taxi driver for Deluxe Yellow Cab. His wife, Mary Littleton, and daughter, Darlene Littleton, both died in 2000.

Survivors include sons, Kenneth Littleton of Falmouth, David Littleton of Portland, Ore., Russell Littleton of Maysville, Michael Littleton of Centralia, Ill., and Terry Littleton of Covington; daughters, Bonnie Jacobs of Foster, Cheri Dryer of California, Judy Gibson of Centralia, Ill., Renee Bailey of Mount Orab, Ohio, and Christi Littleton of Covington; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Cremation Society of Greater Cincinnati is handling arrangements.

Lula Grace Livengood, 64, of Williamstown, died at 5:50 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown. She was a sales clerk at Wal-Mart, Dry Ridge, a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Williamstown. A son, Danny Livengood, died in 2000.

Survivors include her husband, Tommy Livengood; son, Randy Livengood of Williamstown; brothers, Albert Redman of Falmouth and Carl Redman of Butler; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Mount Carmel Rd., Williamstown.

Jesse Clayton Moore, 71, of Cynthiana, died Thursday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. He was a truck driver, water hauler, former member of the Harrison County Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Odd Fellows Lodge, Cynthiana.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Moore; son, David Clayton Moore of Berry; daughter, Pamela Sosbe of Cynthiana; brother, William Ernest Moore of Cynthiana; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Beaver Baptist Cemetery, Harrison County.

Alice R. Pribble, 79, of Alexandria, died Thursday at her home. She was the retired owner of Alice's Beauty Shop, Alexandria, and a member of Alexandria United Methodist Church. Her husband, William Pribble, died in 1995, and a son, Randy Pribble, died in 1992.

Survivors include daughters, Linda Rust of Cold Spring, Lisa Holthaus of California and Sandra Cozad of Peach Grove; sisters, Sarah Tarvin of Bellevue and Hester Richard of Alexandria; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Mentor.

Catherine Marie Richard, 85, of Newport, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, James Richard, died in 1975.

Survivors include a son, Ron Richard of Cincinnati; daughters, Mary Ann Thompson of Newport and Jo Ann Smith of Jacksonville, Fla.; brothers, Earl Kuntz of Crescent Springs, Carl Kuntz of Southgate, George Kuntz of Taylor Mill and Robert Kuntz of Mason, Ohio; sister, Mary Truesdell of Melbourne; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen Church, Newport. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Prayers will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Mausoleum, Fort Thomas.

Mary Ann Riesenberg, 72, of Reading, Ohio, died Friday at Hospice of Cincinnati. She was office manager for Viox Services, Reading.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond C. Riesenberg of Reading; son, Terry Riesenberg of Fort Thomas; daughter, Linda Fisler of Middletown, Ohio; mother, Dorothy Creemer of Cincinnati; sisters, Dorothy Schumaker of Sharonville, Ohio, and Patricia Viox of Ross, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Reading. Entombment will be in St. Joseph New Cemetery, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Cincinnati, 4310 Cooper Rd., Blue Ash, Ohio 45242; American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2, Florence, Ky. 41042, or Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 177 Siebenthaler Ave., Reading, Ohio 45215.

Aaron "Ernie" Roberts, 54, of Covington, died at 9:50 a.m. June 30 at his home. A daughter, Melody Roberts, died July 4.

Survivors include a son, Shawn Roberts of North Dakota; brother, Danny Roberts of West Union, Ohio; sister, Elsie Roberts of Ludlow; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Independence Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Patricia Thomas, 57, of Florence, died at 5:25 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, John M. Thomas of Vero Beach, Fla.; sons, Bryan Thomas of Crittenden, John Thomas of Vero Beach, Fla., and William Cranford III of Indianapolis, Ind.; daughters, Cheri Carrara of Williamstown, Leslie Knight of Crittenden, Patti Furguson of Elsmere, Tina Said of Norwood, Ohio, and Sarah Thomas and Danielle Thomas, both of Florence; brother, Ronald Carr of Florence; and 15 grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere. Visitation will be from noon until the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
