Rebekah Lynn Randall, 17, high school leader

Rebekah Lynn Randall was a leader at Conner High School.

A 17-year-old junior, she was a National Honor Society member, played basketball and had lots of friends.

She planned to go part-time to Conner next year and take a classes in the afternoon at Northern Kentucky University. She talked about getting a business degree and going to chiropractic school.

Ms. Randall, of Petersburg, was killed Saturday morning in a Boone County auto accident.

"She just had such a great personality, " said her father, Ronnie Randall. "She was always smiling, and never met a stranger. She was just one of those special people.

"She gave everything she did 100 percent, whether it was sports or academics or her job at work."

She had played basketball since fourth grade and played volleyball from sixth through 10th grades but gave up volleyball this year to concentrate on academics, Mr. Randall said.

She had a 3.84 grade point average, said her mother, Lynda Randall.

In addition to school, she held part-time jobs, working at Wendy's for a year and recently taking a job at the Kmart store in Florence.

She also played classical and contemporary piano, and "loved doing it, " her father said.

She was a wonderful young lady, said her parents.

"She was outgoing, the most loving, giving person. She had the biggest heart, " said her mother.

Ms. Randall had spent the night with a friend and was driving home about 6 a.m. Saturday when her car struck a tree.

Mr. Randall said she apparently fell asleep at the wheel.

In addition to her parents, survivors include a brother, Aaron Randall of Petersburg; a sister, Renay Randall of Nashville, Tenn.; and grandparents, Ronnie Randall and Barbara Patterson, both of Highland Heights, and Girtha Mullins of Hebron.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Burlington Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Northern Kentucky Baptist Church Building Fund, 2681 Turkeyfoot Road, Lakeside Park, Ky. 41017.

Marion L. Beal, 72, of Evansville, Ind., died of cancer Sunday at his home. He was a former paper cutter with Keller Crescent Co., a former employee of Ziemer Funeral Home in Evansville, a member of VFW Post No. 1114 and an Air Force veteran.

Survivors include sons, Michael Beal of Highland Heights, Greg Beal of Princeton, Ind., and Jeffery Beal of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, John Beal of Melbourne; a sister, Erma Lee Lawrence of Latonia; a friend, Katrina "Cricket" Bowers, who cared for him; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ziemer Funeral Home, Central Chapel, Evansville. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery, Evansville. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042; or American Diabetes Association, 8899 Brookside Ave., West Chester, Ohio 45069.

Mary Blackburn, 72, of Fort Wright, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Guilford L. Blackburn, died on Jan. 28.

Survivors include sons, Guilford L. Blackburn Jr. of Fort Wright and Larry Blackburn, both of Fort Wright; a daughter, Martha Blackburn of Florence; brothers, Bill Perkins and Jack Perkins, both of Florence, Henry Perkins and Melvin Perkins, both of Covington, and Lawrence Perkins of West Union, Ohio; and sisters, Nancy Morrison of Burlington, Pearly Williams of Aurora, Ind., and Helen Perkins of West Union.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Carmel Manor, 100 Carmel Manor Road, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Donna Lee Callan, 49, of Jonesville, died Saturday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Jonesville. She was a member of the church's Women on Mission group.

Survivors include her husband, Anthony Richard Callan; daughters, Denise Bradley and Angie Callan, both of Jonesville; brothers, William Haas Jr. of Florida and Robert Haas of Harrison, Ohio; sisters, Diane Fritts of Brookville, Ind., and Pamela Haas of Harrison; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Macedonia Baptist Church, Jonesville. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 tonight at McDonald Funeral Home, Main Street, Owenton. Burial will be in the Callan Family Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund, 14545 Jonesville Road, Jonesville, Ky. 41052.

Wallace B. Chumbley, 66, of Augusta, died Saturday at his home. He was a retired machinist and maintenance supervisor with Augusta Independent Schools. He attended Augusta Church of the Nazarene, and was a member of Norwood, Ohio, Masonic Lodge, where he was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen Foley Chumbley; daughters, Karen Mullins of Abington, Va., and Sherry Hennessey of Augusta; sisters, Arvella Morton of Champagne, Ill., Iva Dean Compton of Indianapolis and Joyce Young of Wichita Falls, Texas; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be Mount Zion Cemetery, Bracken County. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Genevieve Collins, 80, of Crescent Park, died Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati. She was owner of Hearthstone Restaurant in Fort Mitchell and a member of Crescent Springs Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Ronald "Pete" Collins, died in 1988.

Survivors include a son, Robert R. Collins of Greenhills, Ohio; a daughter, Carol Coppage of Crescent Park; a brother, Alfred Gregory of Lavonia, Mich.; a sister, Elizabeth Ramsey of Amelia, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at Spring Grove Mausoleum Chapel, Cincinnati. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to Crescent Springs Presbyterian Church, 710 Western Reserve Road, Crescent Springs, Ky. 41017. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.

Robert W. Egbers, 92, of Cincinnati, formerly of Dayton, died Thursday at Mercy-St. Theresa Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a food broker. His wife, Martha Egbers, preceded him in death.

Survivors include daughters, Joyce Egbers and Emily Egbers, both of Cincinnati; a son, Dennis Egbers of Cincinnati; and one grandchild.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Church, Cincinnati. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at George H. Rohde and Son Funeral Home, Cincinnati. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Xavier University, Development Office, 3800 Victory Parkway, Suite 1, Cincinnati, Ohio 45207.

Bert Epperson, 52, of Ludlow, died Friday at his home.

He was a retired amusement company operator. His wife, Mary Jane Epperson, died in 2000. A daughter, Mary Beth Deininger, died in 1989.

Survivors include a daughter, Bev Epperson of Ludlow; sons, Dale Epperson and Bobby Epperson, both of Ludlow; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075; or Ludlow Life Squad, 234 Oak St., Ludlow, Ky. 41016. Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, is handling arrangements.

Lila Frakes, 90, of Erlanger, died Saturday at Woodcrest Manor, Erlanger.

Arrangements are pending at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.

William T. Frost, 77, of Highland Heights, died at 1:35 p.m. Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a carpenter and builder.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Mae Frost; a son, Bill Frost of Melbourne; daughters, Ola Pedan of Florence, Ala., Beulah Reinhardt and Darlene Kramer, both of Alexandria, Brenda Singleton of Wilder; and Beverly Smith of Covington; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will begin there at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.; or American Lung Association, 11113 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242.

Earl E. Gibson, 83, of Highland Heights, died at 6:30 p.m. Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was an employee of the city of Cincinnati, and a member of American Legion Post No. 11 and VFW Post No. 5632. He was a World War II veteran. His wife, Gladys Gibson, died in 1993.

Survivors include a daughter, Jeannetta Hatfield of Newport; two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Catchen Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at noon Tuesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Henry M. "Hank" Hubbard, 59, of Florence, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired electrician with Ford Motor Co. in Cincinnati, a Shriner and member of the Scottish Rite and Montgomery, Ohio, Masonic Lodge. He was also a retired member of the Ohio National Guard. A son, Henry "Hank" Hubbard, died in 1983.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Jones Hubbard; a stepbrother, Jake Walters of Hamersville, Ohio; and stepsister, Nancy Walters of Ohio.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Hank Hubbard Blood Research Fund, in care of S.L. Clayborn, 11499 Lippelman Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45246.

Hubert C. "Butch" Marksbury, 57, of Dry Ridge, died at 8:35 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown. He was a retired bricklayer with William Dalton Brick Masonry Contractor, Cincinnati.

Survivors include his wife, Karin Rentsch Marksbury; sons, David Marksbury of Pontiac, Mich., Clayton Marksbury of Hamilton, Ohio, and Jimmy French of Dry Ridge; daughters, Judy Hampton and Angie Marksbury, both of Hamilton, Joy French of Pinter, Sonja Simons of Williamstown, Katherine Marksbury and Nancy Purnell, both of Dry Ridge; a brother, Timothy Marksbury of Cincinnati; sisters, Pat Davis of Savannah, Mo., Jenny Breeden of Culpepper, Va., Isa McDonald of Falmouth, Clara Robinson of Burlington and Cindy Morris of Williamstown; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation began there at 11 a.m. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Jonesville.

Charlene Mays, 71, of Taylor Mill, died Saturday at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill.

Mabel C. McDonald, 81, of Bromley, died Saturday at her home.

She was an assembler with Kelley Kiett X-ray Co., Covington, during World War II, and a member of Bromley Christian Church. She was a Girl Scout leader, a past president of Bromley PTA and was honored with a lifetime membership to the Kentucky PTA. She was a Sunday school teacher with Bromley Christian Church for 50 years. Her husband, Richard McDonald, died in 2000. A son, Arthur McDonald, died in 1967. A daughter, Lillian McDonald, died in 1954.

Survivors include sons, Edward McDonald of Ludlow, Gary McDonald of Hebron and Thomas McDonald of Bromley; daughters, Cathy Hamblen of Loveland, Ohio, Judith Hardin of Fort Wright and Cynthiana McCoy of Bromley; a brother, Steve Chisenhall of Kabz; sisters, Marie Ellis of Independence and Hazel Turner of Bromley; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Bromley Fire Department, 226 Boone St., Bromley, Ky. 41016; or Bromley Christian Church, 216 Kenton St., Bromley, Ky. 41016.

John C. Runge, 77, of Covington, died at 12:13 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a retired electrical foreman with Interlake Steel, Newport, a member of St. Benedict Church in Covington, and a an usher with the church. He was a member of the church's Benny Benders group and was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Jean Wellbrock Runge; a son, John S. Runge of Taylor Mill; daughters, Gloria J. Adams of Crestview Hills, Linda R. Gresham of Corinth and Leah C. Wight of Independence; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at noon Wednesday. Entombment will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.

Sara F. Scudder, 80, of Warsaw, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker and a retired cook with Gallatin County High School. She was a member of South Fork Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 441. Her husband, Rea Scudder, died in 1976.

Survivors include a nephew, Joe Scudder of Warsaw; and a niece, Betty Schooler of Warsaw.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Warsaw Baptist Church, 106 W. Deloris M. Steger, 70, of Corinth, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown. She was a homemaker and a retired substitute teacher with Grant County Schools, and a member of Corinth Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Steger; sons, Thomas E. Steger of Greenville, N.C., and Brent A. Steger of Corinth; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were at noon today at Rogers Funeral Home, Corinth. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to National Kidney Foundation, 250 E. Liberty St., Suite 710, Louisville, Ky. 40202.

Marg Wilbers, 77, of Latonia, died Sunday at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.
